Just read the Championship pull-out of the local paper up here (written from a Hull City point of view). Predicted that we would finish 15th but then they obviously know bugger all about Saints because apparently Jonno Quick Forte is our "Star Man."
Having a full competitive England international was the highlight for me. Growing up with the Dell and Northlands Rd, I never dreamt that Soton would host England in either football or cricket. Now of course, we've had both.
I think this pot seeding system causes a lot of the apathy people have towards WC and EC qualifiers. We end up playing the same old teams year after year after year. They should just seed the top eight and then have a free draw for the rest. That way we could have a proper "group of death" from time to time and a relative minnow having a chance to qualify from a weaker group. Would make it much more interesting.
De Ridder on the wing! Dum der dum dum dum dum.
Southampton's Belgian King! Dum der dum dum dum dum.
He is quick with a great cross,
Saints' gain and Ajax' loss.
De Ridder's the real thing!!
Coat please!!
I'd be a little disappointed with 10th TBH. I don't think we'll go up but think the play-offs are a possibility. 4th to 8th would be a decent season IMHO.
I think it Fifa should immediately rescind the medal. Very disrespectful to the competition and to all those who campaigned for many years, to get the rest of the non playing squad a medal. I could sort of understand and forgive him if he had fallen on hard times and was destitute but the respect I had for him as a great Saints and England player as all but disappeared with this news.
I agree with most of this but surprisingly do actually quite like the new kit. Maybe the plainness of it all?
Still maybe next year? The long overdue return of Hampshire's colours for the one team in Hampshire!
