Which IMO is the reason the Pinnacle bid has stalled. They agreed a fee with the proviso they could appeal and try and overturn the 10 point penalty, therefore buying a club with a chance of promotion. They then find out that the FL were not only denying that appeal and because of the license issues, could possibly add further sanctions. If another 15 point penalty is added and we start on -25, they are at the very best, buying a club fighting a relegation scrap but most probably already destined for League 2. A big difference in the value of a club with a chance of promotion and one destined with relegation, however because the fee had already been agreed, there was nothing Pinnacle could do about it (other than pull out, of course).

Trouble is, if he is that 'upfront' he won't get the £14M he is looking for.

It's more complicated than that. Malwhinney (sp) is insisting that Pinnacle accept that SFC are in administration and therefore exit via a CVA. The way that the company is set up is that the debt to the creditors is SLH's. The assets (of which SFC is one) are being purchased from the administrator and then SLH liquidated. SFC therefore would be unable to exit via an agreed CVA and under FL rules the extra 15 points is inevitable. If it was only about the 10 points, I'm sure Pinnacle would have completed last week but by signing away their appeal rights and accepting the SFC entity is in administration means starting off the season on -25, which is not acceptable to them as purchasers and I dare say, any other interested party.

We might need him next season.

I don't think you are correct here. I believe that the license is revoked when a club goes into administration and only fully reissued once a club has come out via an agreed CVA.

It's not about the 10 points, it's about the FL wanting Pinnacle to agree that SFC are in administration and come out of admin via CVA or accept any sanction they wish to throw at us. Because of the way we are set up, the fact that SFC is just an asset of SLH, it's impossible for us to adhere to these demands (Pinnacle of A N Other).
