  1. So the one and only person who was willing to testify under oath that the people in charge were lying turns up dead before he gets the chance. Bloody hell! It's David Kelly and the sexed-up Iraq dossier all over again!
  2. OK you make a fair point, and I understand what you're getting at. But what kind of comments did you expect on here? "Jolly good Arsene, you have been wronged and are clearly correct in what you say, and we completely forgive you for trying to unsettle our rising star AOC during the January transfer window"..? Get real. Criticising another manager for these tactics is one thing, but look at his quote regarding Mancini's comments about Nasri... don't know what should be done. I don't spend my time worrying about what other people say because we are focused on our game. But what we want is respect and we don't make these comments about players who are under contract at other clubs. So not only is he being just a tad hypocritical, he is also being an outright liar when he claims that he and Arsenal would never resort to the same tactics, when he has been guilty of it many many times. But hey ho, you must be right. He is a fantastic manager (and I haven't seen any comments claiming otherwise on this thread) therefore we must just shut up and forget about it.
  3. Yep, was just thinking exactly the same. Signed from Bath City I believe, thrown straight into the first team by Nichol and on his home debut against Liverpool set up Paul Rideout for the first goal in a 4-1 thrashing. But that doesn't make me any less skeptical about this particular rumour though. Seems like a WUM to me.
  4. You know what dune? I'm actually very happy (and not really surprised) that there are less EDL morons in Southampton than there are in Portsmouth.
  5. Interesting development. I wonder how much she will confess to, and how much she will try and pin on other people to cover her own backside.
  6. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2011/01/24/2320474/arsenal-manager-arsene-wenger-reveals-interest-in Arsene, you really are a first class pr1ck!
  7. Just watching Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story on More 4. Following the global financial meltdown of 2008, Michael takes a look at the knock-on effect of the capitalist system and exposes some of the truly shocking practises of some of the world's biggest corporations. It makes me f***ing ashamed to part of the same race as these vultures who prey on the vulnerability of working people for their own profit.
  8. I fear we have still only seen the tip of the iceberg yet. Something tells me that there are a lot more revelations to come. What we are seeing being played out by NI, the Met police, Cameron, Miliband, and many many others, is a combined game of chess and musical chairs. All of the players are trying to position their pieces on the board in such a way that it will minimise their chances of being left without a chair when the music stops.
  9. King Solomon's Mines - on Film 4 now. My god this film is terrible!
  10. Christ on a bike, what is it with all the pedantry on this thread? I know The Wall was written by Roger Waters (I've been to his house near Romsey BTW, though that's a different story) but that's besides the point. Gilmour is part of the band, and if you ask anyone to name a famous Pink Floyd song, which one do you think 99% of people will respond with?
  11. Apparently his defense in court was that he had a 'momentary lapse of reason'
  12. Alright, his stepfather then. Is there really any point splitting heirs!
  13. Loving the irony of the the fact that his father's most famous song included the chorus "We don't need no education"
  14. Hmmmmm. This appears to very similar to the point that Dubai Phil was trying to get across in the other thread. Personally, I do not agree. I think that most people are aware of the fact that journalists often use underhanded means to gather material for press, but most people are genuinely shocked by the revelations of how deep it goes. Yes, it is fair to say that people's ignorance will allow them to adopt an atitude of 'what I don't know doesn't hurt me' and that is part of human nature I guess. I imagine that many people, as has now been proved since the recent revelations, would choose not to buy certain publications if they knew where the information was coming from. And as far as I know, nobody has ever deliberately requested journalists use illegal methods to obtain their titbits, so to say that the public get the press they deserve is, in my opinion, disingenuous to say the least.
  15. £10 duly donated. If you saw my recent "Using a gym" thread, I am hoping to do the coast-to-coast Trans-Pennine Trail ride next spring (plenty of training still required!) and Action for Children will be my charity of choice also, owing to the fact that my girlfriend works for them in Rotherham. Having met all her colleaguise on a night out and realising what a dedicated bunch of people they are, I know just what a valuable service they provide. Good luck mate. I did a similar-length ride a couple of years ago - the central section of the TPT between Leeds and Chesterfield - and it nearly killed me. If you're interested I can send you the write-up I did for my charity contributors afterwards. Also, I believe it was Minty who did the John O'Groats to Lands End ride a few years back. I'm pretty sure he still posts on here from time to time so you may want to get in touch with him and ask him for his thoughts as well.
  16. And now a former NotW deputy editor, who went to work for the Met police as a consultant, has been arrested and interrogated for his part in the whole sorry affair... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14163426
  17. Oh dear Rupert.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-14162545
  18. Or possibly SRS. Now there is one banned poster I don't miss one little bit.
  19. Not really. I'm not the sort of person to look down on others just because they choose not to give to charity. It's his choice which charities he donates to, and it wouldn't matter to me if he never gave a penny to anyone in his life. It's just that given stanley's very nationalistic views on many other subjects, it does not surprise me in the slightest that he chooses not to donate to any foreign causes.
  20. Quelle surprise!
  21. I used to be quite generous up until I got made redundant a few years ago. Finding myself out of work and wondering how the hell I was going to pay the mortgage made me re-evaluate my whole attitude towards money and, as a result, I am now a lot more cautious and conservative with it.
  22. My money is on Turkish
  23. And we all know how well Sven handles pressure don't we
  24. Oh pleeeeeease let this be true. If this whole sorry episode results in Glenn Beck being taken off the air then it will have all been worth it IMO.
  25. So The Stain has been banned because there is some suspicion he might have been an alter ego of Deppo? Well, OK I can maybe take the point that multiple usernames are frowned upon, but did he actually post something as The Stain that contravened the rules? I ask this because I liked The Stain as a poster - he made a good contribution to the forum. So what if it was the same person as Deppo? Fair play to him for making the effort to ensure that the two different aliases had two completely different personalities. And one question for the mods: are you certain it was actually the same person? Because it is not uncommon for certain ISPs to present the same IP address for multiple users, regardless of the actual broadband line they are on.
