  1. It does make me laugh on here sometimes. Lets see, since the anti christ went KL has opened the doors of St Marys to the ex hero's of past glorious seasons and her new staff have tried to re-instill the importance of our clubs history.......but without any of us knowing the FACTS of why Dodd and Williams have had there contracts terminated certain posters are reaching for that big red panic button and assumming the club is about to implode. Why? because they don't come out every 5 minutes infront of some irratating Echo reporter and tell the whole world about everything that is going on every day inside the corridors of SFC. Do people honestly think that SFC have terminated the contracts of these two without a very good reason? especially if it is not related in anyway to Poch's future?.......come on get a grip and try enjoying the summer and the world cup without worrying every 5 minutes that our club is not updating us on the renaming of the LeTissier suite.
  2. I'm not sure why anyone is surprised or concerned about the lack of a definate statement from MOPO stating he is staying at SFC no matter what. Personally for what its worth i believe MP who has shown he is a very shrewd and clever man when dealing with the British press is again being very shrewd and clever but this time with the Saints board. MP knows he could now walk into some very good jobs if he wanted them, his stock has gone up massively this season. He currently has a brilliant young team that IF kept together and with a few quality additions will be challenging next season to break into that top 6. Why would he move now when he has that?.....He is unlikely to get one of the top 4 team jobs so if its here in the UK he stays who else? Spurs....personally i don't see it. Everton...won't happen, Man Utd....ditto. IF the SFC board match his ambitions and dont sell our best players i believe he will stay.....he is playing the waiting game and i personally don't blame him one bit.....and so are the players IMHO
  3. love watching MOPO doing interviews, he already knows what answers to give before his translator asks the question......there is nothing wrong with his English, he is just very shrewd with English journos....and quite rightly so in my opinion.
  4. 8/9, it has been brilliant watching this young team grow and play such entertaining football.
  5. It may seem an outlandish view but here it is for what its worth.....I think our previous chairman honestly thought we could break into the top 4 and hence the signings of Gaston and Osvaldo....Osvaldo i believe was the firepower he believed we needed, and we all know how that ended. As much as i like Gaston and believe he is very talented, he is not the correct player for the Premier league. Once we started to fall away from the top 6 before xmas and Osvaldo then turned into physco nut job it was obvious we were not going to be a top 4 side (lets be honest it was never going to happen but i kind off admire the ex chairman for his belief and vision). Everything since then has shown that we did not want to qualify for the Europa cup....and at risk of upsetting those that wanted to see us march into Europe i personally believe we would have been mad to contemplate Europe with the size of squad we have.
  6. hope i'm wrong here but i can't see us pick up another win in the remaining games. Jay Rod is a massive loss and one we can not fill at the moment. I can't see Adam, Rickie or Luke risking injury so close to the world cup now especially after seeing what happened to their team mate and to be honest that goes for the rest of the players that may have world cup aspirations.
  7. anyone that honestly would replace a cup with our premiership status is mad. We haven't been a mediocre mid table premiership side playing dull hoof football.....we have been totally entertained by this brilliant young side. There have not been many games this season where we have not played wonderful football....can anyone immagine this side with the likes of Sturridge and Suarez leading our front line (no disrespect to our current strikers)......anyone thinking we would keep hold of this quality bunch of lads in the Championship is deluded.....a cup would be nice but not at the sacrifice of our Premiership status.
  8. Thanks for that Trousers. Gives a good indication that we have little to worry about.....i would have sleepless nights if i were a fan of some of those clubs with massive debt
  9. looking at the statement today i feel quite positive about the future of our club. I bet if you compared our club debt to every other Premiership club we would be in a very healthy position! Out of interest i was speaking to someone at the weekend who is part of the Portsmouth fan consortium and to put things into perspective you only have to look at Portsmouth to see how bad management at every level and taking massive gambles can kill a club. This guy was very pessemistic about Portsmouth future.....he had no reason to lie to me, we were just two blokes disscussing football and the way our clubs are run. It must have been very hard for him to admitt to a Saints fan that their club is dying due to ridiculous management.....oh and the F.A.Cup, yep you can guess where you can shove that now.....it will count as nothing to him if they completely dissapear!
  10. why do you find the need to start new threads to just go on about the same stuff you do in every other thread. You really do need to get out and enjoy the sun more....you might even find mixing with real people is fun!
  11. I'm not sure the title should be "Is the Europa league beyond us".....more "do we want Europa football next season".....personally i think our current squad is too thin of quality to compete both in the premiership and the Europa league. We have a very strong 15 players at best and then we are paper thin. I'm sure Saints have looked at other clubs that have qualified for Europa league that have similar squad depths as us and seen them struggle...Fulham and Swansea spring to mind. Forget what the fans want, and i'm sure we all want to see Saints playing in Europe BUT i don't think we are ready for it and our attitude towards the cups would seem to back this up. Just my opinion.
  12. City not having a good week lol. Nice to see MP there, i think that shows his committment to be there for this game at the tail end of the season. Looks very promising that he will stay.
  13. over 40 years of watching Saints and seeing some very good Saints sides in those 4 decades i can honestly say the current team is the best footballing side i have ever seen wear the shirt.
  14. I appreciate Alpine that you don't go to games and probably watch very few so to you the end result is all thats important. However i watch all the games and i want to see attractive football which no one can argue we MOST DEFINATELY DO PLAY! Yes like every other Saints fan i want to win every game but i accept that will not happen. I am perfectly happy with this season. The football has at times been brilliant and we have had some great results along the way. Do i want to watch the style West Ham play? no i dont and i dont care if they won the league playing that brand i still would not want to watch it if Saints played that way!
  15. I'm very tempted to say you are a complete tool Glasgow but obviously you would like that then you can you can accuse me of being a Mopo apologist. However i would point you in the direction of a good optician. The football this Saints side are producing is some of the best i have ever seen a Saints side play and i am well placed to make that judgement having followed the team for over 40 years. Yes we have lost games and yes we have lost games where we have totally outplayed the opposition, but the football has been a pleasure to watch and i have been entertained ever since Poch walked through the doors. Even yesterday we were very good for large parts of the game in particular the first half. We are minus a couple of pieces of the jigsaw puzzle.....we may never get them i accept that, but no one can say that we have not been entertained by a brilliant young Saints side since Poch arrived....and as much as i liked NA he did not have the side playing like this!
  16. The slit wristers have already started. We played very well for an awful lot of the game. The difference was exactly what i said it would be in the build up match thread, Liverpool take their chances and do not!....If you can take away the dissapointment of losing and look at it coldly you will see we have a very exciting team that will only get better. I'm not down after that performance.
  17. would loveto see us win. Two of my best friends are Liverpool supporters and would love to be able to give them some stick. That said i think Liverpool are terrific going forward and with SAS up front they are so dangerous. I think Liverpool will beat us because they will take their chances and we will not....thats where i believe the difference lies.
  18. My opinion has nothing to do with Saturdays result but rather what i think is a realistic view in this era. I don't for one moment think any decisions made at the club are made with consideration to what the fans of our club think and its my opinion that anyone that does think we are thought about is naive. Long gone are those romantic days. Its all about money and nothing more. It has been obvious from the first rounds of both cup competitions this season that we were not seriously interested in either and i am sure that this was a financial decision. Personally i think this says alot about where we are going. Don't get me wrong, i have loved the last 5 years, the ride has been fantastic and this season has been brilliant with the best football i have seen for years from a Saints side. I must confess i worry if those days are coming to an end. Whatever it has been a great ride.
  19. mate i know what you mean.....but being relegated, in administration and lol having Ryan Smith and Forecast in the team i accepted....afterall this was Saints and i was used to years of struggling with the occassional high point........but then Saints suddenly promised me so much and i dared to dream.....the last 2 weeks has left me with that feeling people are said to get before they die "impending doom" and like it or not thats what i have about our club now....god knows i hope i'm way wrong here. I'm starting to look less and less at this site and hate what its become.....I should have known better than to hope!
  20. to be honest i have lost all interest now after what has gone on in the last couple of weeks. 40+ years of supporting Saints and i have never felt like this.
  21. As i have already said, on the face of it this is a very encouraging statement from KL.......But as Saints fans we have all seen many false dawns and empty promises.....I will hope this statement is a true and positive intent.....but i'm not about to start shouting from the hill tops.....time is the only thing that will tell....and if the players buy into this statement of intent!
  22. On the face of it, it is a very encouraging statement. I believe in the good old saying "actions speak louder than words"
  23. Both Gaston and Lovren arrived at Southampton airport last night with the rest of the team. Both were in leg braces but in good spirits and laughing away with the rest of the lads. Team spirit looked really good and can only assume that neither player is as badly hurt as first thought.
  24. I want to remember Le Tiss as the player he was, the one player i would happily pay to watch. I have had the pleasure of playing with him after he retired and speaking to him on several occasions and everytime has been a pleasure. He is as normal as the next man on the street, no airs and graces.....for these reasons I wish he would just be very careful about what comments he passes on recent events....Alot of people on here are using the words "he was just an employee of the club" to describe NC....well that goes for ex players as well. Both men should be remembered by the fans for how they both saved this club, NC for getting Markus to invest in us and then running the club brilliantly and Le Tiss for almost single handedly keeping us in the top league season after season and staying loyal. Can we as fans not just accept these facts and not rip apart two men that have done so much for our club?
