The latest player to be spotlighted is Brighton starletSolly March. [h=4]The scout reports...[/h]We check on a player attracting a lot of attention in the Championship, Solly March has recently broken into the first-team picture at Brighton - and is impressing a lot of on-lookers. March began at his local club Lewes, and quickly progressed through youth ranks before making his first-team debut by the time he was 17. But he was quickly attracting attention from a host of Premier League and Championship clubs. Arsenal, Newcastle, Sunderland and West Ham were all keen on taking March, but it was his Brighton who won the day - the club his father Steve played for as an apprentice. March penned a three-year deal with Brighton in late 2011. It took March just over 12 months to really find his feet at the AMEX, as he was then pushing for a place in the first team. Early in 2013, March was included in a number of squads and made the bench for Brighton - but did not feature. The following season saw him heavily involved pre-season and it has been little surprise that Oscar Garcia has recognised his talent and has brought him into his first-team squad. And perhaps the teenager is fortunate to be working under such a progressive coach as Spaniard Garcia - given that March's game is certainly leading from the technical aspect. Standing at over 6ft, March is a truly elegant performer - often played on the wing, but looks perfectly suited to a number '10' role, pulling the strings behind the front-man. Comfortable on the ball, and with both feet - March has the skill set that you can't really teach but is natural. However, he has shown playing out wide that he is willing to fit into a system. He has an eye for a pass too and learning when to play it is clearly something Garcia is working on, but he is clearly quickly emerging as a fine young player. [h=4]The scout says...[/h]Clearly has a wonderful future ahead of him and he appears to be in the perfect place at the moment. However, with talent like this it is hard to hide from the Premier League scouts and Brighton will have to work hard to keep hold of this prospect. [h=4]The Scout rating...[/h]Shooting: 7 out of 10 Passing: 8 out of 10 Tackling: 6 out of 10 Heading: 6 out of 10 Pace: 7 out of 10 Vision: 8 out of 10 Current ability: 7 out of 10 Potential ability: 10 out of 10 OVERALL SCOUT RATING: 59/80 Current value: £4million Potential value: £18million

A few photos of the Dell and one or two faces you might know.
BARCELONASAINT replied to Norm's topic in The Saints
I started going to the Dell about 1970 as a 6 year old and have wonderful memories as man and boy of our old ground. Very different times and very enjoyable. Thank you for uploading those pictures. Gave me something to smile about and remember when football wasn't all about mega million pound players and super rich foreign owners. -
any news Guan???

someone nip down to the airport, only one flight in from Glasgow tonight at roughly 8pm and one from Edingburgh same time.

Tyreke Johnson, who is being touted by many within the Swindon footballing fraternity to have a bright future in the game, showed glimpses of his talent. He went on a surging run and it was his blocked cross that earned the corner that would provide Swindon with their best chance of the half. ......This from a report last year.

74: #BHAFC pull one back as Lua Lua cuts in from the right as dispatches a shot that comes off Clyne and loops over Davis. #saintsfc [1-3]

i take it back, class save from Forster

Forster does not like he can be arsed tbh

very astute of you sir!.....and for reasons which should be obvious i will not divulge why just a sibling returning home should have such a big impact! All i can say is the lad is between a rock and a hard place.

People need to understand the situation with Ings has been going on for well over a month now. I sat in a meeting over a month ago when it was divulged that Ings at that point had two offers on the table, one from Liverpool and one from Saints. He obviously had decisions to make. What has made it harder for him is a very personal family matter that is making it difficult for him to decide where his future lies. The very personal family matter lies in Southampton where someone has come back recently and settled here. He is extremely close to this family member and if people understood whats going on there they would understand why he is having a hard time working out what to do. I have had no update since that meeting i was lucky enough to sit in and don't know what the current situation is.....but that is it for whats its worth as of just over a month ago.

This is completely what i have alluded to in my previous posts.....as my as i thought the Don was a "go getter" i had my concerns he was playing with fire and being totally reliant on KL pot of gold never drying up. Thanks for the post, makes perfect sense.

This 100%, i'm starting to think we have got the most stupid forum members on gods green earth. I would be embarrassed to know some of you personally the way you reacted this summer and totally blamed the current board for......There is only 1 person to blame for this and its Cortese, selling the players something he could not deliver because it wasnt his money to be making empty promises!!!
-
it's not the club thats a joke....it's some of our so called pathetic fans that have not got a clue about modern day football and who holds all the power. So Saint Garrett you honestly believe that the club could have kept hold of the the 4 that have left for 2 of the biggest football clubs in the world and massive wage increases. Jesus some people are deluded on here. We are all ****ed to see good players leave but the majority of us understand there is nothing the club can do once a player wants to leave.....except get top dollar, and to be fair Saints have done that. Now we need to spend it well.
-
Koeman has also asked fans to be patient as the club look to sign new players, after seeing defender Luke Shaw, midfielder Adam Lallana and striker Rickie Lambert all leave the club. "We are working on it," he said. "Our job is to be prepared if someone leaves the club. "The board knows we need new players. There is no need to hurry. We have a good squad but we would like better players to be competitive."

hurrah 1-0 Jos

I still find it hard to believe that so many supposedly grown ups on here are still all too willing to blame the current board for player exodus. Do you honestly believe that the board have suddenly had a change in stance from last season???.....I for one don't. What i believe i clearly evident is that NC sold a vision to MP and all the players and stated as fact what he was going to do to take us to the percieved next level......the bit he failed to tell them was (i'm playing with someone elses money and she hasn't actually agreed to any of the promises i have made) I have no doubt he hoped to charm KL with his vision and get the ok to spend spend spend. As we all know this didnt happen and he jumped making KL look like she was about to cash in on the club. Of course the reaction to MP leaving has been the domino effect as everyone from MP to the players have realised what NC had promised is not about to come true. Could the board have stopped these players from leaving???.....come on this is the real world and of course they could have made them sit in the reserves but its never going to happen if you want your assetts to be worth something. The board are making the best of a bad situation of which the majority is not of their making. Of course it is human nature to have to blame someone, god knows that culture is all around us and the present board and KL are easy targets.

really enjoyed that and would suspect most football fans would. Keep it up, already looking forward to the next bit.

Dusan Tadic - DONE DEAL, official and everything
BARCELONASAINT replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
As much as i find you the ultimate depressing pessimstic git going, it is then posts like this that make me giggle insanely......only you Alpine, only you! -
In principle i totally agree with you.....however this is the real world of the Premiership and apart from the mega rich rich clubs like Man City, Chelsea etc there is no way we could afford to make players miss out on premiership games....the players know they have the club over a barrell on this one.....no way we could suspend 2 let alone 4/5 of our players without us being relegation fodder. And you are right, contracts are not worth the paper they are written on!

I've been supporting Saints for well over 40 years and have enjoyed the highs and lows and had my heros in every Saints team throughout the years.....however i have found myself NOT getting worked up at all about what has gone on during the last year. I took the reasonable view that all good things must come to an end eventually and was therefore not surprised or so mortally wounded by events that have unfolded over the last 12 months. NC could never carry on the way he was going and most sensible people saw that. MP bought into NC dream and undoubtedly saw this as a brilliant chance to make it on the worlds biggest stage. Did either of them have any loyalty to Saints....NO of course they did not, it was a job and thats all. The more and more i think about MP the more i honestly think he was a very calculating snake in the grass....I honestly hand on heart do not believe there was anything the board could have done to keep him.....he had made his mind up months before and again i honestly NOW believe he very deliberately made sure we lost to Sunderland in the FA Cup....he knew he was off and i believe he knew that no Europe would mean alot of the players who were already of interest to bigger clubs would have nothing to keep them here at Saints. Yes it's all probably a bit conspiracy theoryist but i wouldn't be surprised if this was exactly what was played out. As far as the players go they are just employees and not one of them has loyalty to the shirt....all this badge kissing stuff is utter crap. I will still support the club.....but long gone are the days when any of the players were my idols.........on a side note, i know from reading the posts that alot of you are totally passionate about the club we all love and support BUT remember THE PLAYERS ARE EXTREMELY WELL REWARDED FOR THEIR SERVICES AND DO NOT JUSTIFY ANY OF US IDOLISING ANY OF THESE OVER PAID PAMPERED PRIMA DONAS!
-
Moan moan ****ing moan, it's just a bloody football top. Some of you are really pathetic!
-
Cheers Batman for thepositive post. I will only ever post what i believe is genuine information for fellow Saints fans. Those that have good memories on here will remember that it was me that broke the news several weeks before the Dutch duo were appointed! (Portoloo) I try and keep factual
-
I don't know who False Libero is and what he/she does for a living but it was spooky that we both broke this news two weeks ago on here on the same day. I don't know if he/she was at the same meeting that day that involved the Ings family, but we have both been told the same news that Dannys Ings was deciding between an offer from us and one from Liverpool. The only plus side in our favour is that he is very close to family members that are here in Southampton.
-
funny enough this is my feelings as well. Wasn't bothered, i get no joy from watching England play, this has been a brilliant World Cup with exciting attacking football from most teams except England who are awful but what makes it even worse....it is our English players that earn such ludicrous sums of money and yet compared to everything else at the World Cup they are the worst players. There is a certain irony there me thinks!
-
I don't know why so many people on here got so worked up when Poch went and thought this was the beginning of the end.....I stated at the time and stand by what i said then.....there was no way KL was going to let either Cortese or Mopo get one over her and undo everything her father dreamed off. I wasn't sure about her when her father died and had my reservations, but by the end of last season i was convinced she was here long term and she has proved this right today. Thankyou to the Liebber family for your continuing support of our club.
