  1. I think things will become clearer after next Saturday. Who stays and who goes may well be effected by us either playing European football or not. Europa football might be a bit of a nightmare for the managers of those clubs in the competition but i bet the players would rather be in that competition than nothing....otherwise whats the point?
  2. interesting couple of changes considering whats possibly at stake.
  3. I just love this club. Brilliant atmosphere there tonight. Some powerful speaches that really make you feel this club is in safe hands. Really enjoyed it tonight and i will be very surprised is Fonte is going anywhere.
  4. Barry Gale.....bloody legend!!!
  5. I totally get why so many fans hate Brendan Rogers for the remarks he made about our club last summer and why they would love to see players leave an average Liverpool side for a team that will win something. However this thing with the likes of Sterling wanting to move, Shaw, Chambers and to some extent Lallana.....I can totally get why these players moved if i forget about football for 1 minute. I bet everyone of them has an agent or family member telling them "look at JRod"....his career could have been over and will he ever be the same player again (i bet there are loads of example of such players). A footballers career could be over so quickly and unless they are major top earners they will probably have to find an alternative career. Can anyone of us blame them for chasing the cash cow while it is still available to them??? Is there one of us that would not do the same to make sure we never had to do a normal job in our lives and in the process secure our families future??? My heart tells me i would play for SFC until my dying days irrespective of money......my head tells me to stop being a stupid ****er and take the money!
  6. to be fair i watched the first half and thought we were the much better side. We could easily have been 2 up when they scored their first. 2nd was a cracking strike but poor defending on the edge of our own box........didn't bother watching the second half.
  7. I have a sore throat this evening from singing and cheering so much. Manes record wil around for years to come and i'm happy i will be able to say I WAS THERE! Excellent last home game of the season with some beautiful football that was reminiscent of our first half of the season form. I so want us to keep this squad together with a few quality additions. Thank you Saints for a brilliant season, so much more than most of us could have expected last summer.
  8. seriously do we want Europa league football?.......we have been **** poor since January. The transfer window proved to me we were not serious about Europe unless they were deluded to think we could maintain our 1st half a season form throughout the whole season...really??? We have no way got a squad capable of competing on both fronts. Don't get me wrong, i think this has been a brilliant season considering what happened pre-season....just a shame we have been so poor since January
  9. I posted much earlier in the season that i had it on very good authority that we were in for INGS and that Liverpool were also interested and he had a decision to make. I wasn't prepared to say at the time who this had come from other than a family member he is very close to. I have heard nothing since that post and have no idea where INGS will be next season but i will now say that the information came directly from INGS sister who lives here in Southampton. For what it's worth i think he would be a useful addition.
  10. Bournemouth have been very good
  11. hope no one ever forgets how much we owe not only to Markus for saving us but to Katherine for keeping the dream going. Fantastic memories from that day.
  12. terribly sad news. Gutted for him and just hope he recovers to play again. Puts a real downer on what has been an incredible season. Really hope this does not effect the rest of the players in a negative way.
  13. I'm confident the management know exactly who will NOT be here next season and already know who their replacements SHOULD be. Obviously those replacements still have to sign. The only very slight doubt may have been the very slight chance we had of getting a CL spot. That might have tempted one or two to stay, although i'm not convinced that would have been the case. Money talks above all else for 99% of footballers and a CL spot by itself would not have been enough to hold onto the 2/3 players that are almost certainly off in the summer.
  14. not at all hopeful about this, i have an awful feeling we are about to see another Jrod situation after another "nothing" incident. Really hope i'm wrong and it is just about a couple of weeks rest in time for Everton.
  15. I have loved this season and the great football that has been played. Did i ever think we would qualify for CL....No, i'm realistic and we do not have the squad depth for that. Yes we can qualify for Europa and yes i will be chuffed about that and dont understand anyone that would not be. We would need to increase our squad depth by at least 3 players i think for Europa and domestic football.
  16. we could open up a very healthy gap between us and 8th place today if we win and West spam dont win. That would make UEFA cup football at least all the more likely. Haven't totally given up on CL but UEFA is more realistic
  17. I think the majority on here are realistic and accept that 99% of players have no real loyalty to the football club that employ them and this has been the case for years. Matt Le Tiss was a one off. All they care about is the size of their wage pack. How many have we seen go to clubs and double or triple their salaries BUT play little football for their new club due to the squad sizes. Any one that wants to leave should go but on OUR terms. I am confident they will be replaced by better or equal quality players....thats one thing our management team have shown this season.
  18. I think he has mellowed over the years and calmed down alot.....my experiences of him when he played for us are not good....he was a complete arrogant ****. Too much money when young and believed the hype about himself.
  19. West Brom have the idea....when the goal is in sight bloody well shoot!!!!.....c'mon Saints, as much as i love Barcelona and the way they walk the ball into the net we are Saints not bloody Barcelona.....SHOOT!!!
  20. this has been a cracking game and i fear Spurs and Liverpool are both really playing at their peaks now. I'm not being pessemistic when when i say we will lose to both these these sides, i just can not see us beating either side. Kane and Sturridge are both too quick and strong. I sincerley hope i'm wrong....ohhh and goal Liverpool....lol
  21. whatever happens over the next 14 games we as fans have had one hell of a ride this season. I am so proud to say i support the Saints and have done for 40+ years through good and bad. The only thing that depresses me is seeing some of our players slated by our own fans. Come on guys, these are the players that have had us up in these dizzy heights all season. Back every last one of them to the end of the season!!!
  22. Ramirez has been so lightweight. Has to go down as the most expensive flop ever as far as Saints are concerned. Really wanted the lad to do well at Hull just so we might stand a chance of selling him. Who would want him now. He just is not cut out for the Premiership. Hull by the way are a team staring relegation in the face, they were awful
  23. Ghana 2-1 up!!!
  24. This is a difficult one to call......In over 40 years of supporting Saints i am for the first time starting to believe we could be a top 4 club. This squad of players believe it is achieveable and are working incredibly hard for one another. We are doing what the top clubs do, play brilliantly at times and still grind out results when our backs are against it. My biggest concern is the same as alot on here....the depth of our squad for the run in. You can bet we will need to at least keep up with our current form to keep top 4 and to do that i believe we need our best players....those that have stood in have done a fantastic job. For theses reasons for the Palace game i would be sorely tempted to rest players like Pelle, Fonte, Clyne, Bertrand. I'm sorry if i appear selfish because i have seen Saints lift the F A Cup, but i honestly think Champions League qualification and everything it would bring to Southampton is more important than the F.A.Cup in todays football.
  25. I remember the first time i saw him play and i turned round to my mate and said "he's the worst player i have ever had to watch wear the Saints shirt"....to be fair he certainly changed my opinion of him and he is rightly remembered fondly by Saints fans. I hope Chicago see the player he was for us!
