I would think that even if it was the former it will be billed as a mutual decision, which on the face of it, is probably best for all parties.

One thing that has disappointed me is that we've still conceded after giving the ball away in so called 'good areas of the pitch'. Areas where we should have been able to recover from but have failed to do so. So the player who turned it over is obviously culpable, but other players need to be more aware and quicker to react when we do loose possession. I think there was some pundit that said recently that we were 'too nice', and I tend to agree - we need to know when to be a little bit more 'cynical' in the right areas when we are stretched.

In reply you got short shrift from me telling you to earn respect and not demand it, it irked you, and yet again YOU PM'd me. Again you got short shrift from me. YOU then sent me yet another PM saying that I was insulting you, even though you had pretty much insulted the entire fan base on a post that you had made, and that I was acting the BIG man. You then did the old 'triggered' thing - you need to explain that - I'm nearly 60 so it went right over me. In order to conclude our dealings I replied telling you that you I found you tiresome and that I probably wouldn't respond to further PM's. Gratefully, I've not received any further from you. When Ralph is talking to the fans, do you not think it might be a good sound bite? It might well be that we fought off a tentative enquiry while the player had good time on his contract. But if any of the big four came in with a half reasonable offer, I can guarantee both the club, and more importantly the player, will listen. If you honestly think we are in a position to keep these players, you're going to be forever disappointed. Exactly. There is not one single player who would stay at our club if Liverpool come calling, not one. Unfortunately the cycle would only repeat itself if we did manage to replace everybody with equal or better quality as well. We cannot compete wages wise therefore we have no bargaining tool, simple economics of football. Back to mid table mediocrity until we find a really rich sugar daddy. I was the bloke in block 534 with my lad...! I don't get too worked up about other fans to be quite honest - each to their own. We moved once the game started and basically sat in a bloody empty bowl, but still had a good day. As for the older generation - I love 'em, (probably because I'm pretty much there myself) life blood of the club. I remember the West Brom tie - me and the boy were sat about 3 rows from the back and this really old geezer and his missus came up and were sat right on the back row with blankets over their lap. Him with his binos and her with her walking stick, what can you do - you can only admire their dedication to the club. Top supporters. The only 'fans' that I don't particularly like are the keyboard warriors on here who constantly do little but whinge about all and sundry, yet rarely if ever, seem to actually go to games. Personally, I had a good day out on Sunday, it's been a cr@p season but I think we need to be tolerant of each other as Saints fans.

I think its all very apparent about who needs to leave - they are easily identified. The real issue is who do we get in, who overseas the coming and going of players, who has the next five year plan. It's obvious who needs to leave, but WTF do we get in to take us forwards?

The sooner the top six knob off to a league of their own the better. The game has been totally trashed by money, however in an average lifetime the very same clubs will dominate. Why shouldn't the so called lesser clubs be able to aspire for the big time, their fans are no less worthy.
