  1. Yep. No offence meant to you at all. But I much prefer the club being focused on community activity than ex-player activity. Both could be done, but I'd rather 100% was put into the former.
  2. I'm paid a major retainer directly by the club to post my views on here. I've subtly moved from a sceptical to a pro-Cortese position. I simply can't understand why other fans haven't got their snouts into this trough.
  3. I'd pay 15 quid for one....
  4. Yes, we do have very different views, then. I think the Saints foundation is excellent and community, rather than ex-player, based. good luck to ex-saints, but I don't think they merit any special favours.
  5. Yes. It is. Unless you want some rule that a Benali or MLT backed charity gets special treatment. I love those two guys...but I hate the assumption of some cosy, nepotistic, golf clubby deal.
  6. Why is it that the whingers and complainers are always the most utterly unreasonable people imaginable. If you think X...or "can even consider" X....then you are not a Saints fan. Cortese stands accused of being a control freak and then his critics come up with this extreme, illiberal, dictatorial, offensive, self-satisfied, smug nonsense. Disgraceful and idiotic.
  7. I have a few charities I support. And a couple of Saints players I might be able to persuade to back them. Can I have some free advertising and use of the Saints logo, please?
  8. I've lost track of the number now....but it's something like....of the last 30 league games where Saints have been leading at half time, we have gone on to win them all. This must be close to being an English record for any team ever.
  9. Obviously, it's been a tremendous start. But, I'm not with those who say "so, what, just score one more than the oppo" If you're winning games 5-4, 7-5, 15-12 or whatever, I think you'd identify the need to tighten at the back.
  10. Miller was excellent, I thought. A permament threat and the most likely match winner. I was stunned when he was subbed and put it down to McLaren being clueless until I noticed Miller was actually hobbling towards the bench. I still feared it was set up for McGoldrick to win the game, but he was just appalling.
  11. Unbelievable. Mitchell is out of control, but I'm not quite sure what Bournemouth fans demands now are? They're a pretty small club. Nothing wrong with that at all. But I would think staying in League One would be an achievement and they'll eventually settle down as a League Two or possibly even a Blue Square team. In general, they don't seem to have been particularly gracious for Saints' help in the past and were so above themselves last season, so - while I basically couldn't give a monkey's about them - I'd have a nice chuckle if they went through a miserable period. Their fans certainly need taking down a peg or three.
  12. It is, however, technically possible to get a 155 break (although, I suspect Gemmel may be exaggerating his best ever score....) If you're awarded a free ball before any reds have been potted, you could sink a colour and then the black for 8 points before going on to clear the table for a further 147. Does anyone know if a break in excess of 147 has ever been achieved? My own best is a dismal 26...
  13. Somebody - anybody - please, please, pelase make this thread stop.
  14. No thanks.
  15. My pre-season prediction was 10th. But I'm now thinking more optimistic...maybe playoffs.
  16. That would certainly help our drive to cement a final position in the top 17.
  17. That Walsall thread was a hilarious read. I think it's absolutely okay to call people up when they've been proven wrong. FWIW, I think I was prediciting 2nd place from about game 15 onwards. I was right on this, but wld be happy to be pulled up on anything I was wrong about (I think at one point I said we needed 20 more points to clinch 2nd place and it turned out to be 22). Of course, people say daft things imemdiately after a disappointing defeat (or amazing victory), but I think it's fine to call them up for it. It gives you a good steer as whose views to listen to/take seriously in future.
  18. Probably not. Did you call the police? You can't be too careful these days.
  19. You can't be more definitive than that. If an Everton fan said something about Everton's supposed transfer behaviour, well, it must be true.
  20. Have not been a fan of having him back. But....if he's a free agent and keen to come, there's no downside risk is there? (assuming salary demands are reasonable). Perhaps just let him train with us or maybe a pay-as-you play deal or conceivably a signing for 3 months until the next transfer window?
  21. Just left the ground. Stunning 2nd half display. Unfortunately, each Leics goal was scored at just the wrong time. They are quite a fragile team based on this. Poss play off candidates, but not much better. If Saints can keep up this sort of display, I think we can finish in the top 17:-) De Ridder shld be considered as a starter for us. We perhaps lack a turn of pace w/o him.
  22. Awful gking by KD. He had to come for it.
  23. Well, you're just a happy clappy, head-in-the-clouds, deluded Cortese worshipper, then. I think we'd be lucky to add to our present tally of 12 points this season to be honest. Especially given we didn't sign any decent players in June.
  24. I want Saints to do well. But I fear we are hurtling towards relegation. Is that agreeable enough?
  25. I would consider that a breach of my freedom of speech. This is suppsoed to be a discussion forum, right?
