It’s surely oven ready by now?

Looks like great business if these numbers are right. KWP and 8m+ for PEH was at the high end of my hopes. Good job on not folding like a house of cards.
-
Really dire today. Such a shame, i know Steve has worked hard to keep the site going, but this could kill it off entirely.
-
As reported, looks an okay deal especially if there are add-ons for PEH. I would have hoped for KWP+6 or 7m. This seems about there. If, as other reports indicate, Saints playing hardball, we might get there or above it. Reasonable business overall it seems. Not stunning, but reasonable.
-
Not disagreeing. We held firm before eventually bowing to the inevitable and getting a good price. Dropped VVD from a number of matches too. No reason to think we should act much differently on PEH.
-
We got £75m for him. A very fair price at the time.

I confess though that it’s great having you as a regular poster. Any lively forum always needs a chap like you. The one who brilliantly proves that their ignorance is no barrier at all to expressing an opinion. You do bring a smile to our faces, sweetie.

Well, good of you to put your hand in the air. Given I negotiate for a pretty good living (albeit not sales of football players), I’ll keep my hands down thanks.
-
I’m sceptical about that tbh. The idea that the negotiation involves Hojbjerg and Spurs agreeing a package that is perfect for the former and Saints then just need to accept almost any offer Levy makes is not how any negotiation works.
-
His apparent determination to only go to Spurs might make our negotiating position trickier, but it surely makes his salary negotiation harder too? Why would they offer him a bumper salary if he isn’t willing to sign for Everton no matter what? Why not offer him a more modest salary and add the savings to the transfer offer to Saints to get the deal over the line?

I don’t know if they’re also waiting to see who progresses and doesn’t in the later parts of Europa League and Champions League as I think these teams won’t start their games until after Sept 12th
-
Anyone know when fixture list comes out? Are they just waiting for the play-off final?
-
Totally agree. I'm also amazed that ponderous referees don't lean on VAR more.

Eddie Howe....He went to Burnley....and then you went down. A sad tale.

Random Ex- Academy Player Transfer News no-one will care about...

They seem very persistent about this! -
Penalties is a weird one. Would be odd to win the golden boot if your team somehow got 15 or so penalties and you scored them all with just a handful of goals from open play. But you can't just discount penalties scored. If Vardy scores 2 out of 2 and Ings 1 out of 2, you would have to give the award to Vardy if they were otherwise tied for goals.

I find it's usually mentioned as part of a turnaround..."they lost 9-0, but now they're pretty damned good" sort of thing.
-
Most likely mid-table for us...somewhere between 8th and 14th. Requires a near miracle to break into the top sixth. Something would have to go very, very badly wrong to be bottom three. That said, if I can get 1000/1 on Betfair for us to win the league, I'll have £100 on it. Not because we have a realistic chance of doing so, but we might just get off to a good start and then I can cash out at 125/1 or 80/1 after six or seven games. Made a tidy profit on that a few years back, we had a chance of going top, I think, when we went and lost 2-0 at Arsenal after 5 or 6 games. Our odds had come in about sixfold in the meantime.
-
We can’t easily compensate for losing Ings, that’s obvious. Sure, Obafemi and Long up front doesn’t look like a goal rush, but we’d probably just need to provide better support from attacking midfield - Armstrong, Redmond and Djenepo all have goals in them. I also think Redmond can play as a striker if needed.
-
What’s the academy looking like for centre backs? Anyone who can feasibly be 4th choice? Also, are any of the first team remotely feasible makeshift centre backs? I know Bertrand has played on the left of a back three, but has he ever played in the middle of a back four? Could Romeu slot in there if we got desperate? I’m agreeing with those who say that spending millions on a fourth choice centre back seems like over-insurance, but am struggling to think up any credible options at all if we lost 2 of the main three. Maybe we need to go for a Danso-style loan deal? What’s the position with Yoshida? Out of contract? Was he sold or loaned to Sampdoria? Not 100% against him returning for a year, but I guess that bird has flown.

Thanks. I didn’t realise he didn’t use his actual surname as the name he goes by! -

Thanks for this. What’s the situation with Romeu - can’t see him listed. He has one year left? -
New contract for Bertrand. Sign up KWP or another suitable right back. Get in this Weston guy or some other CM. Get Salisu over the line plus a back-up CB. Sell PEH to the highest bidder. That’d do, no?

There’s always going to be a slice of luck one way or another and it can be decisive, of course. The aim has to be that you’re skilful enough that a slice of bad luck doesn’t matter. Bournemouth & Watford weren’t.
