  1. Anyone know when fixture list comes out? Are they just waiting for the play-off final?
  2. Totally agree. I'm also amazed that ponderous referees don't lean on VAR more.
  3. Eddie Howe....He went to Burnley....and then you went down. A sad tale.
  4. They seem very persistent about this!
  5. Penalties is a weird one. Would be odd to win the golden boot if your team somehow got 15 or so penalties and you scored them all with just a handful of goals from open play. But you can't just discount penalties scored. If Vardy scores 2 out of 2 and Ings 1 out of 2, you would have to give the award to Vardy if they were otherwise tied for goals.
  6. I find it's usually mentioned as part of a turnaround..."they lost 9-0, but now they're pretty damned good" sort of thing.
  7. Most likely mid-table for us...somewhere between 8th and 14th. Requires a near miracle to break into the top sixth. Something would have to go very, very badly wrong to be bottom three. That said, if I can get 1000/1 on Betfair for us to win the league, I'll have £100 on it. Not because we have a realistic chance of doing so, but we might just get off to a good start and then I can cash out at 125/1 or 80/1 after six or seven games. Made a tidy profit on that a few years back, we had a chance of going top, I think, when we went and lost 2-0 at Arsenal after 5 or 6 games. Our odds had come in about sixfold in the meantime.
  8. We can’t easily compensate for losing Ings, that’s obvious. Sure, Obafemi and Long up front doesn’t look like a goal rush, but we’d probably just need to provide better support from attacking midfield - Armstrong, Redmond and Djenepo all have goals in them. I also think Redmond can play as a striker if needed.
  9. What’s the academy looking like for centre backs? Anyone who can feasibly be 4th choice? Also, are any of the first team remotely feasible makeshift centre backs? I know Bertrand has played on the left of a back three, but has he ever played in the middle of a back four? Could Romeu slot in there if we got desperate? I’m agreeing with those who say that spending millions on a fourth choice centre back seems like over-insurance, but am struggling to think up any credible options at all if we lost 2 of the main three. Maybe we need to go for a Danso-style loan deal? What’s the position with Yoshida? Out of contract? Was he sold or loaned to Sampdoria? Not 100% against him returning for a year, but I guess that bird has flown.
  10. Thanks. I didn’t realise he didn’t use his actual surname as the name he goes by!
  11. Thanks for this. What’s the situation with Romeu - can’t see him listed. He has one year left?
  12. New contract for Bertrand. Sign up KWP or another suitable right back. Get in this Weston guy or some other CM. Get Salisu over the line plus a back-up CB. Sell PEH to the highest bidder. That’d do, no?
  13. There’s always going to be a slice of luck one way or another and it can be decisive, of course. The aim has to be that you’re skilful enough that a slice of bad luck doesn’t matter. Bournemouth & Watford weren’t.
  14. Obviously there are people in the stadium now - coaching staff, stadium staff, medical staff etc etc. If people can gather in pubs & restaurants now, without face masks, surely we can move to some sort of attendance at games by Sept 12th, even if it’s only a few hundred/thousand carefully sprinkled?
  15. FWIW, which probably isn’t a huge amount, I’ve been told that if matches can go ahead with reduced capacity, then priority will go to season ticket holders in hospitality. So many variables - what % of capacity will be used etc - but I thought I’d pass it on. A season ticket in the Channon suite/Saints bar costs £1,920 btw (including 3 free drinks and lunch voucher per match)
  16. All things equal, the fact that it’s only seven weeks until the new season strikes me as ideal. Real momentum can maybe be rolled over, but also you have to figure some rest is needed too.
  17. Relax, little one. You seem to be in a permanent state of upset and distress. Don’t get upset. Smile a little.
  18. Villa probably just about deserved to stay up. Assuming they sell Grealish, I guess a lot hinges for them next year on how they reinvest that cash.
  19. JWP could end up towards the very high end of the total club appearances table. No one is ever going to break the Terry Paine record though, I guess (820-ish?)
  20. A lot of confusion seems to be going on in your head. Try to relax. Deep breaths. Maybe a glass of water. Bless. Just bless.
  21. Kind of hard not to give Adams MoM, but I went for Romeu, who was excellent. With Hojbjerg edging to the exit, I hope he becomes a first team regular again.
  22. Worst case scenarios absolutely are in play. Saints aren’t going to say “we can’t possibly do anything but let you run down your contract, tell us what you want and we will accede to it”. Any, as long as people realise they shouldn’t pay too much attention to tedious internet bores who name themselves after great sportsmen, we should be just fine...
  23. Very satisfying end to the season. Next season can’t come quickly enough.
  24. Vestergaard is just terrible
  25. Strongly suggests PEH sold, no?
