  1. The Alex has signs up saying they're open from 10am that day.
  2. I swear some people can't be seeing more than 60-70 minutes of the match. Sure, you pays your money and takes your choice, but if traffic's the primary concern then perhaps the pub or staying at home are better options. Also I think there's a big gulf between the season ticket waving (which I find abhorrent) and this chant.
  3. Jeez, I suspect you're one of the only ones - which sport are you talking about?! Cavani and Lavezzi are unreal. It was a good little day last year. Plenty of bits and pieces to keep the kids amused inbetween the matches and I would imagine the Markus flag will see another outing going on what JustMike said. Enjoyed the format too.
  4. Very moving article; he's a big man. Supremely pleased with his performance today. May I suggest that #saintsfc fans wishing to say "thank you" to Billy for today's performance show support for the Luey Jacob Sharp Foundation? No effort involved, just have to send a text message with the chosen amount. http://ljsfoundation.org.uk/
  5. Yep, that matches my experience from when I was last at the ground early on a matchday. The players enter through a door to the left of the Megastore.
  6. Every single time I walked to the kitchen today another goal went in, so I'm laying claim to all of them, ha! Apologies for keeping it 'interesting' until late On a more serious note the overall post-match feeling for me is somewhat comparable to MK Dons at home last season. A somewhat baffling comeback that gives us a superb chance to press on and aim for the automatic promotion spots (I'm not greedy, either would do).
  7. Apart from being a Yeovil fan of course

    Who are You?

[EDIT] Hang on, scratch this - looks like I've already posted on this thread when steaming and plain forgot about it

    Who are You?

Bloody hell, thought I must be one of the older ones at 25 but evidently not! Hampshire born 'n bred, even chose Southampton Uni on basis of where my loyalties lie. First game was a pre-season friendly away to Leyton Orient circa '95 or '96 courtesy of my uncle First home game I seem to recall was a fixture against Wimbledon with Shipperley scoring twice. From there on it was a case of making matches whenever I was able to, but am now a season ticket holder in the Northam. My second love behind Saints is music - can often be found at metal gigs post-match!
  10. Yeah, thought as much. Given that the post you quoted was talking about Richardson your comment was exactly as clever as I assumed. Helps if you name the subject of your ire in a sentence.
  11. Who are you referring to as 'they', pray tell?
  12. Last night was quiet, more atmosphere would be preferrable to less! Most of the recent chants carry well around the ground and build as they repeat ('cringey' or not the Lee one is a good example of this) but everything was falling flat. I know there's high expectations at the moment but the impatience is unnecessary when there's only an hour of the match gone. Sing whatever you like, getting behind the lads has made a difference time and again.
  13. Apparently the skates piped up with "Is this a library?" during a quiet spell last night, to which the Reading fans replied, "It's P*mpey's funeral!" Not really useful, just made me chuckle.
  14. That was really useful, thanks! Only have phone/broadband through Sky but looks like I can still log on etc. for the Go service. For anyone else I'll be amazed if you struggle to find a stream when it's a Sky match.
  15. Absolutely true, BUT I think the reason people are getting this wrong is the perspective you look at it from. Points-wise the 44 game season puts all teams on a level playing field at the end of the season. The discrepancy comes if you're considering the league table as it looks now. P*mpey fold = maximum of 0 points taken from playing them. Table as it stands: West Ham's maximum points against P*mpey = 6, Saints' maximum points against P*mpey = 4. Just for a change I'll go for A too.
  16. Someone's been paying attention today! Inter-thread banter, I like it. Mind you I'm not sure I was old enough to buy a beer for that game so it's even less plausible
  17. I distinctly remember being at that game but not the incident in question. Very odd!
  18. Having paid about £500 for a season ticket I'm pretty keen to watch every minute; missing a goal is a killer. If it's not a matchday then I'm normally pining for the next one, so why deprive myself of any of the game?! Scarily I agree with Turkish on something - it seems strange to choose to eat the dirge they serve at the ground if it's not an evening match? If you're that desperate for a beer then so be it - your money and your choice. The end of the Derby game was a bit sad though - you've got Derby fans still singing and supporting their team (who rarely stretched beyond lacklustre and posed little threat) whereas half of ours had already sloped out of the stadium by the final whistle. Again, it's your day and we can't all be happy-clappy superfans but to my mind it seems a little strange to only watch 70-ish minutes of the football and show your appreciation for a comprehensive win with little more than a deathly silence. Actually I tell a fib, I have left my seat early at half time the once. End of last season against Walsall, my girlfriend and I had been on the beers all day and wanted to carry on. Their lad scored that screamer from 20 yards and I vowed never to do it again Can it really be true that all of those rushing down on 35-40 mins are on a bender like that every week? Bit scary if so!
  19. It's good. Too many of our chants die out after the first or second time through, but this one has a decent, driving rhythm that keeps on going. The Tadanari Lee one is a bit cringey lyrically but still works for the same reasons - builds around the ground and creates a sustained noise. I'm all for a buzzing atmosphere and as long as it means something to us that should be enough!
  20. Quite enjoyed our segment to be fair. Showed the club in a good light and I like having a look behind the scenes. The vox pops were pants but then they always are. Less credit to the commentator of our highlights who claimed that it was Martin's second league goal of the season and for them failing to show Lallana's involvement in the build-up to his effort. Ah well, that's what the 'All Angles' coverage on Saints Player is for.
  21. Our fans are often louder and brighter when the crowd's smaller, go figure. Not bothered how many turn up so long as they get behind the team and create a cracking atmosphere. This sort of thread comes across as a bit cringeworthy/desperate, like when the club posts 'news' stories on the OS begging people to come to games (or, dare I say it, like the skates and their 12th Man bollix). We've got a solid, loyal fanbase that generally knows when their support is needed most.

    Twitter abuse

He's also been getting a lot of abuse from West Ham fans for being a 'cheat' (didn't realise he had grabbed Taylor's hand and slapped himself with it). Hopefully the lads on Twitter are sensible enough to ignore the bile, but you do have to wonder whether any of them let it get to them - especially when it's as vehement and sickening as the highlighted example. It's a great platform but does put you in a prime position for a verbal kicking. Not quite so easy to shrug off as a bit of chanting from opposition fans during a game.
  23. I think there's a very important distinction there - which one is generally used in a derogatory manner? Really? Are we really?! Or is it just that we've (hopefully) moved beyond needless, wanton segregation of minorities but can be a little over-sensitive in how we've managed to do so? And is that not a worthy price to pay? Since I first heard this Stewart Lee clip I've used it to counter the "PC'S GONE MAAAAAAAD!" argument (that's the 84% he refers to at the start of the video), because he does so eloquently and rationally. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmkHLiZMJeU In reality 'political correctness' (if you must call it that) should be a non-pervasive ideology that's really just a fancy way of instilling common decency and politeness. Yet the concept is objectified and attacked with venom, usually to fit an agenda that has little or nothing to do with 'PC'. Anyway, we're really going off on a tangent now. Fair enough on the point that this may have been a one-time, regretted comment; it's hardly time to call a witch-hunt - I just find it strange that the content of what was said could be defended.
  24. I find it faintly ridiculous that the OP has been chastised for raising the issue - it's hardly an event you want to be privy to. Seriously, if you're just a football match to enjoy Saints ripping the oppostion a new one, I think it's pretty natural not to want to enter conflict. I've been threatened with a lot more than strong words for challenging somebody in the crowd for less. Sure, there's little can be done after the event, but that doesn't make the issue go away. It's a natural reaction to be taken aback and not pipe up instantly. Perhaps next time that person decides to make a similar remark there'll now be more people in the area aware and willing to challenge? Don't we have a text service for reporting racist abuse and so on? Give that a buzz if it happens next time and see how the club wishes to deal with it. It's one thing for the crowd nearby not to speak against racist abuse, but surely nobody's going to deny hearing it if it comes to that.
  25. That's exactly how it felt in the ground too. Purely a coincidence that the return to 3pm Saturday matches sees us back ripping it up? Obviously we've got some very key players back fit (and in-form, taking Lallana as a case in point) but the 'normal' schedule may suit us better. We controlled the game today in a manner not seen at home in 2012, almost a complete team performance. Burnley were very lucky not to concede more and had a few strange decisions go their way. The most important part for me is that we appear to have the ability to play our best players in their strongest roles - long may it continue. Not to mention a bench full of people that seem to slot in snugly when called upon - and that's even without Punch or Chappers!
