  1. Wouldn't disagree too much with that, it felt like one of those days where it simply wasn't going to happen for us. Very coolly taken.
  2. Quite happy with the way it's going really, low-key suits us. If we manage to keep sneaking under the radar and surprising people we won't go far wrong. History will be kinder to Nige.

    New Kits 2012-13

I just hope that the aap3 logo is made of something that doesn't crack and start peeling off this time. Loved the design, fit and material quality of the shirt just gone, but the sponsor panel on mine looks like ****e now.
  4. Sort of, I'm left mid or left wing generally. Have played up top but only really at Power League (5-a-side). Might be worth a couple of training sessions to see how we go?
  5. Spot on, thanks for that. Got one reply this evening about possibly joining in with some training when it kicks off again but will be good to keep my options open in case that falls through
  6. Afternoon all. I've been meaning to get back into playing for a while but didn't grow up in the area and don't really know where to start. A quick Google has turned up the City of Southampton Sunday League and Southampton & District Football League so I've fired off some emails to teams on those websites, though I've not heard back yet. Most of the content on the league websites seems to be geared towards entering a new team rather than if you're an individual wanting to get involved - would be good if there was somewhere you could register your details for it to be fired it off to clubs that are short of players. So, anybody part of a team (or knows of somebody in one) that needs a left midfielder?
  7. I don't really know anybody that uses it like that. Personally I mainly use it to converse and share news/thoughts (it's particularly easy to dip in and out of to keep abreast of current affairs). There's a lot of different informal roles that people play on Twitter - specialists/pundits, networkers/socialisers, thought leaders/influencers. Anybody that's using it to post "just had sum toast lolz" is using about 0.01% of the platform's potential. In short it's perfectly possible to have a presence on there without giving your entire persona or life away, which is what footballers would ideally be able to do. You get petulant attention seekers in all walks of life - it's not as if Twitter is more prone to it than you'd encounter in your every-day life.
  8. Like most forms of social media it is what you make of it. Twitter's actually better than most though as it works on an opt-in basis. You follow the content that interests you and are only ever a couple of clicks away from unfollowing or blocking anybody that pees you off with inane drivel. As for why Adam decided to close his account... Well we don't know the ins and outs of it, do we? I believe he's now engaged, wouldn't be all that surprising if it touched a nerve. Perhaps his partner's cheated in the past, perhaps the allegated events recently came to light between them and he's very raw about it etc. etc. All ifs and maybes, his business. For me it comes down to that guy being an utter moron. If this truly was a selfless act (as he claims) you wouldn't pick a public medium to air it. Nasty attention-seeking little boy.
  9. That shouldn't be the only option though. The camaraderie and banter between our lads on there has been fantastic this season and very entertaining. It's also a great way for the players to be able to interact with fans e.g. Jos' squarehead and Cork's boots competitions. Very sad that a small number of people can ruin it for thousands of others.
  10. Same score as me. Didn't note the ones I missed at the time but quite a similar list to you - left the ones quoted that I definitely forgot.
  11. Runs from 1996-7 up to date. If you're anything like me it's the Championship wilderness years that will take longest to fill in (repression of the revolving door of personnel perhaps?!) http://www.sporcle.com/games/Freddie/football-league-xis-southampton Some of them are a bit odd (think 2008-9 had about 6 midfielders in it) but a good little time waster.
  12. Though it'd be a strange tactic. I'm sure if people are determined to renew or get in early they won't be throwing themselves into the Itchen about having to wait a couple of weeks more to find out the cost. Mind you, there are some proper weirdos on here. If people living hand-to-mouth need to know then it's not as if we can't guess at a ballpark figure. It'll be an average price of what, £35 for an adult ticket per match in the goals/wings? A new season ticket last year was 87% of the price of buying tickets at full price, renewals were 75%. So it wouldn't be an unreasonable assumption that renewals will be around £500 and new purchases £580. Obviously adjust that figure to more if you sit on the halfway line or less/significantly less if you're in the concession bracket/sit in the family section.
  13. Quite right, 24 assists this season from Fox, Richardson and Butterfield has been an appalling return.
  14. Does this mean the West Ham fans can have their tinpot little boat trip now?

    Fifa 2013

Live Season's included in the game now isn't it? It mostly just involves them buggering up formations but occasionally real-life form is reflected.
  16. Well I'm sold.

    Fifa 2013

That's exactly it. We were massively under-powered at the start of the season but are a solid 3 1/2 star team now. Handy as I pretty much always play as Saints online To be honest I can't see the stats rising that much beyond the usual EA 'Premier League players are better than all of the Championship ones!' boost. With the recent updates most of our first team approached 70-ish overall and the lower end of the Prem doesn't stretch far beyond that. For completeness sake here's the best Saints squad you can build on Ultimate Team (cost a pretty penny I can tell you!) Look at the difference between Lambert and Richardson:
  18. Likewise, they're just names now! Ghosts of a past that seems a more distant than it possibly can have been. Sod a Worst XI, we could easily make a 'first team' and reserves from the misfits we've had to put up with.

    Iago Falque?

Falque's stats on FIFA 12 overshadowed everybody in our first team until a more recent update. Mind you EA do work on the basis that every Prem player is better than every Championship one.
  20. Well that's ironic. Yesterday I tweeted this: "I've now entered so many competitions to play at St. Mary's, one of them has to pay off sooner or later!" Dane Russo retweeted it.
  21. I suppose the main benefit of that is keeping Saints Player. Though it's true that most games will be televised I prefer the All Angles Covered highlights to re-watching full games I was at. Plus it's nice having all of the interviews uploaded and the odd little extra e.g. from pre-season and the promotion vids of the past couple of seasons.
  22. If bold images and large, legible headings aren't aesthetically pleasing then what is?! The rotating banner carousel grabs your initial attention and gives the headline articles the important they deserve (up to 15 stories no more than 2 clicks away). Important parts of the page are well highlighted and the modular design means that all other information is consistently well segregated. Yes, there's quite a bit of info on that homepage, but the headings on each box are pretty prominent which enables you to skim through and pick out which you require (not to mention the fact that you can add/remove sections as you please). The navigation is a simple, single-line and so all held in one place (well, if you ignore the floating 'shop' and 'tickets' quicklinks at the very top). There's a prominent search bar that actually churns up relevant results. Good social media integration... The list goes on. Just thought that was a bit of a bizarre comment to come out with given you followed it up by accepting our own as OK - one of the most unnecessarily cluttered sites you'll see!
  23. Yep, the City site is a class act. Demonstrates strong commercial awareness and delivers a sound user experience, the likes of which the templated, sterile Perform Group ones could never attain. As a web designer by trade I'd love to have a dig at working on an upgrade but I'm not confident that my tender few years of experience could fully do it justice. Might be fun to put together a mock-up though
  24. Likewise. I can recall it all (mostly with dread), but not necessarily the chronology. Such a rollercoaster, really puts into perspective how good things have been since Markus invested.
  25. I thought the quote on the BBC site sounded like something Cortese would've written.
