This is indeed a great and deserved honour for TP and a good move by the Club. However, (despite an earlier comment) I am still somewhat confused and perturbed. SFC Ltd was never in administration and if John Mortimore was appointed Life President you can not just appoint someone else! (even if the company was taken over). If he wasn't appointed Life President the Club have never made any announcement re his standing down. Also, I do not see how the Club can continually fail to recognise Lawrie Macs huge part in Saints history. (And please do not start on about him taking money from the Club when it was skint - there has never been any real evidence of this!) LMc is still an enthusiastic supporter of the TEAM (at his own expense) and is tremendously active in the Charity World, not least the Disabled Olympic Games. It will be very embarrassing for the Club when he receives a Knighthood, which is highly probable, and Cortese still cold shoulders him.

Precisely! There may be other directors of the Holding Company (The name escapes me) but as far as I was aware, Cortese is in sole charge of Southampton Football Club Ltd. Other than Reed (I've forgotten his title) there is no one else who has an input to the position of Manager, Purchase of Players and Team Selection.

Well said that man! There are too many doom and gloom merchants on here. We might well have had the draw. We created a few good chances, hit the bar, were denied a penalty and their first goal should never have been allowed. I refuse to get worried until after Xmas. NA should stay.

Hey you Talk Sport Knockers! Alan Brazil is the best 'general sports programme' presenter there is. He is a excellent broadcaster. H & B very good and so are some of the commentators. 'Mouse' acts the part of the idiot for the others to feed off. All in all its pretty good although I miss Mike Dicken, James Whale, Jon Gaunt, Porky Parry and Mike Collins.

My thoughts: What a fantastic job Nigel Adkins and the squad have done. Where were Reading last season - Championship Play Off Final, West Ham - Premiership, Blackpool - Premiership. And Southampton - Division One! To repeat what a fantastic performance. Thank whatever God you look to that we and the Players do not have to go through the Hell of Today!

Excuse me! I live in Woking and there are hundreds of Saints fans here. Just see the Station and the M3 on Match days. I'm sure there are quite a few in and around Guildford as well.

Look forward to an answer re a cup/medals for 2nd Place. The Winners of the Play Offs get a cup and medals. I believe all finalists get medals. Coming (a very close) second has got to be better than going up via the Play Offs. What do the 2nd placed team get. (Other than Automatic Promotion)

Feck Me! It seems that the English Prem (+ 1 Scottish Prem) and Championship are heavily reliant on ex Saints players. 3 involved Swansea v Arsenal and two scoring plus all the others playing regularly and Rudi scoring all the time! If we could have held onto them all they wouldn't be talking about Man U and Man C!

In all this fuss about Guly and the goal no one has mentioned this:- a) Why was Guly on the near post? (Left Back position) b) Why wasn't Harding on the near post? c) When Strikers attempt to defend it invariably ends in disaster. Why don't they stay out of the way and let the defenders defend?

It's been a great battle that's for sure! I think Huddersfields relentless run has kept saints up to it to the last. Well done us but they deserve promotion as well and hope they get it. It's a crazy system that a team that finishes 6th could get the promotion before a team that is virtually joint second!
