I haven't insulted or abused anyone. And if they want to infract me for pointing out why the original thread should not have been locked so be it. They would be my first infractions, and it seems that only those with numerous to their names are allowed to post with impunity on here anyway.

Excellent post. I too have paid since the beginning, which for me means posting a cheque from abroad every year. Also, not just so I can post more than three times a day. It is extremely rare that I do post that many in a day. However, I don't think it is only myself who is beginning to wonder if it is worth the effort any more....

We are not worthy of explanations, nor is it possible to question/argue the worth of a thread. Mods ARE Gods!! (or so it would appear....)
-
But surely discussing if the acquisition of an opposition team would have been a good signing for us IS discussing Saints???
-
This sort of thing ought to be discussed in the HDAJFU thread, if you ask me
-
Trolling, WUMing, taking threads way off topic, etc, is all totally acceptable; but talking about football, and which players that have actually been signed by our opposition during this transfer window, is not allowed. This site really is going down hill.................. Yes, yes, i know, this will be locked soon as well..............................

Good post Glasgow. He is certainly better than all of their 2nd choice LBs.

I'm certainly not bothered about Chamakh, a bit of a donkey in my opinion. I have never really rated Downing that much, certainly not at international level. Yes, he can have a good game now and then but I don't think he really offers anything we don't have. In fact, he is a typical West Ham signing - relatively high profile and high wages; and I thought they had debt problems?? Come to think of it, are West Ham becoming Liverpool rejects? - Cole, Carroll, Downing - any others??

Excellent!!

Further to my above, before this also gets locked without any debate as to it's worth, I thought the idea of the HCDAJFU thread was to flag up players posters thought could do a job for us. In other words, ones we should try to sign. This is completely different from discussing the players signed by oue opposition and debating how they would/wouldn't have fitted in at Saints.
-
HCDAJFU = He Could Do A Job For Us HCHDAJFU = He Could Have Done A Job For Us (but has now signed for someone else) Two completely different aspects. Incidentally, the Premier League abilities (or lack there of) of players already at Saints would not really fit into either category. That would be something more akin to, IHSGETDAJFUATL (Is He Still Good Enough To Do A Job For Us At This Level). It's amazing how a load of off-topic, trolling, sheite is allowed to remain on threads - and the threads keep going - yet perfectly good debates (not in a 100 plus page thread, less than half of which is anywhere near to the topic) are closed. Good job Mike!!!!!

I agree, especially about the bit in bold. I think we will finish anywhere between 9th and 16th. Obviously hoping for the higher end of that spectrum, but (if we do improve upon last season) I don't see us finishing anything much above 14th.

I forgot about him. Yes, I agree. We wouldn't get anyone ahead of ManUre though.

We finally get a decent thread going, without it being hi-jacked by the usual suspects and a MOD goes and locks it, stating, 'it's what should be discussed in the HCDAJFU thread. Yes, the same one that has recently had 3 pages of slagging off Fox, hardly on topic that is it? Yet, the posts remain and the thread is left open. The thread I am referring to is, of course - http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?46147-Downing-amp-Chamakh-jealous-If-not-then-who-SHOULD-we-have-signed#.UgqS2I0ziSo To answer the OP on that one, I would have liked: Soldado Bony Van Wolfwinkle in that order. But will also be very happy IF we do manage get Osvaldo

Accrington Stanley, if only for BT's sake
-
Perhaps it's because we need around 25m cash up front to sign some star striker? Just as likely, imo. (or wishful thinking, at least)

And let's not fortget that income probably includes their parachute payments as well. I bet it won't be 34% next year after the parachutes stop!

Give it a frickin rest you nobber!!! We all know you haveAdkins, since before his appointment. I can only specula that he knobbed your missus, or sister, or mother, which could be all three given where you live!!! I am not unhappy to see SDR go, in fact it was more than expected. Tried hard. Good goal at Reading. Below standard for us. But, good luck to him in the future.

I would be happy with a 'lower league position' of 4th. Seriously, as others have pointed out, the 13 or so leavers will have zero impact given how little they contributed last season. I do get your point though. I also hope we bring in more than 1 more player. But only 1 or 2 more. If we were to bring in Damiao, Benega and Naughton I would be over the moon.

Thanks for that Sue. Sounds encouraging.

I will make a wild prediction here: every CB who plays in the PL will make mistakes at some point during the coming season; these mistakes may then cost their team points. I, too, would not like to have either Jos or Jose as our first choice CBs. I would also love it we were to bring in another top CB (i.e. an Astori) to partner Lovren, therefore making Maya 3rd choice. But I would rather we got a top quality striker.
