Not at all; I believe our front 4 can, and do, rotate amongst themselves during the game.
  2. Can't argue with much there.

Thought he played very well after he came on today. Was the hub of all our attacking play and linked well with Osvaldo. Hope they both start against Norwich next week. I think we should have enough to beat Barnsley without either.
  4. Saints match on SS1 at 8pm (UK time) Thought we were the better team. Would have won had we had a proper ref; the one today was dire!! JWP excellent; Lallana had a good game; Osvaldo looked good, as did Ramirez when he came on.
  5. I had a few thumbs up and positive comments when wearing last season's shirts in Ukraine recently (from Ukranians and Russians - they love the EPL over there). Despite being in Southampton when it went on sale, I refused to buy this year's shirt.

    New Orleans

One of my trips there for the entire week of Mardi Gras (1990, iirc). It was completely amazing. Also, all bar one of my visits were on Grey Funnel Lines (the RN) so included 10 hours of sailing up the Mississippi. (The odd one was a road trip from Florida.)

I went there a few times late 80's, early 90's. Can't remember the names of any bars, cafes or restaurants, but I always had a great time there and love the city. Also a fan of The Saints and their great stadium.
  8. I doubt he will have his full debut against Barnsley. Maybe he will start on Saturday, maybe not - but I really don't think he will start, or even be on the bench, for that one. The line-up for the Barnsley will be much dependant on who starts Saturday: Clyne/Chambers - Maya/Fonte - JWP/Gaston/Puncheon - etc. However, I honestly the starting 11 for Barnsley will be those most least likely to start with a fully fit squad: i.e. Kelvin/Gazza, Jos, Fox, (prob) Chambers, Cork, Steve Davis, Punch, Guly, Mayuka; with a few of the youngsters thrown in: Isgrove, Turnbull, Rowe, etc.
  9. If a parent's concern over sending his son to Saints' Academy is that if when the boy turns 17/18 and wants to sign for 'one of the big clubs' (thereby, not staying at and playing for Saints - should he be good enough at that stage) but 'Nasty Nic' might do a tough deal to make this (and the players onward development) difficult to happen then I am happy for their child to go and 'use' another academy for their own good/greed. Oh, and if your son is 10 then he might too old anyway - Saints recruit at age 7.
  10. Surely the implication here, if any, is that it is not a good idea for young, developing, players to sign for Arsenal - as they are too tight-fisted to pay for their playing time. If Wenger wanted him so badly because he was such a good player who would win the Arse matches then he would be played for as many minutes as the manager needed him on the pitch. I doubt 'The Don' held a gun to Arsenal's head as they signed the sale agreement.
  11. Phew, thank feck for that!! I thought he was talking about Saggy Chops!!!
  12. Rosie as in rhyming slang (Rosie Lea) - tea? Or Rosie as in reference to Harry - dogs?
  13. MLT was not our 'original penalty king'. Some of us can remember a certain David Peach who, though a left back, was also a cert to score from a spot kick.
  14. As above.
  15. Exactly. Claus was a liability when Killer wasn't alongside him.
  16. How can Maya be the weak link when, imo, he was our best CB last season? I honestly feel he is better than both Jos and Jose (on the ground at least, they are probably better in the air). That is not to say we couldn't get better - which we probably will do, in time. However, singling Maya out as the weak link in our squad is a bit unfair.

    p.s there may be

If it is a loan it will have to be before 2 September. No loan window in this league.
  18. Just before half-time in Chelski-Hull there was a great shot of Jose and Bruce talking to one another, with both wearing their respective club ties. That's how it should be done. I hope Pochettino learns a few things from Mr Mourinho!!
  19. Come to think of it, he is probably still bitter about us getting automatic promotion ahead of them; after they spunked a fortune to achieve it. I am still gutted they won the play-offs. It would have been funny as f... had they not gone up.
  20. I am as certain as I possibly can be that WHU have a much higher wage bill than us. Add this to the amount of they debt they have, again, especially when compared to ours and I think Gold would be better keeping his mouth shut!!
  21. Spot on. As I posted on this topic a while ago, imagine if we still had Bale, Walcott and OxC. (I know he injured at the moment, but...) We could have easily fielded a starting 11 yesterday with all but 4 being from our own academy. And that is not even looking too far back. So, in a couple of years time, we could conceivably do just that.
  22. More people are killed in the UK with knives than guns each year. I guess, by your reasoning, we should be more like the States and all bee allowed to go around toting side-arms......
  23. Based on what average price per ticket? And, does it take in the additional player expenditure they have recently added above and beyond their amended, amended, amended, etc, business plan?
  24. Who played? Who scored?
