It'd been worth it if we had something to show for it. A good cup run, a semi final, a final, bo*locks, who knows, even winning the damn thing. But no, that isn't what the management of SFC wanted and some of the fans were duped into believing that it was all about building for the next season where we take our rightful place in the top 4. It's a real shame that arugably the best team we've had in 30 years has got nothing to show for it but it's an even bigger shame that the management and some of our fans were too arrogant to think that the time to push for some silverware was then and that given the way the draw opened up in the FA Cup it'd be a long time before we'd get a better chance of winning a trophy.

Typical that it's fashionable now for Jos to be the forum whipping boy. No he isn't good enough to start and should ideally be used as little as possible but wil we get a better 4th choice? Hoolveld really struggled when we first came up, but so did everyone and he didn't help having Davis behind him and Fox to his left. Lets not forget Hoolveld played in two of our best performances towards the end of the first season when we beat Liverpool and Chelsea.

As someone that writes a football blog i'd expect you to know abit about football, this comment proves not. You seriously think Gazzaniga and Boruc are much of a muchness?
-
You've done well, used to the forum hardman and now a far more amiable character.

That's what I thought. Were picture of him in Belgium weren't there?
-
Rumour on TUI that he has been sacked for breach of contract, refusing to train. Means we retain his contract and registration but don't have to pay him. Seen on the UI so no idea if true or not.

The Cortese junkies were absolutely indignant that our unstoppable march up the table would ultimately result in us taking our rightful place in the champions league in our 50,000 capacity stadium with or team full of academy graduates all ignoring Man United and £100k a week because they loved the chairman. It hasn't quite panned out like that as those of us who had a realistic view said it wouldn't. The league cup was beneath us as we saved our players for the push for 7th, the FA cup, the Europa cup, well who needs it, we're better than that. So as the best players do what some of us always said they would and go and play for the top clubs earning the top money and we need to replace them, the cortese junkies are currently experiencing something similar to the scenario to the one in Trainspotting where Renton was locked in his room trying to get off the smack. They'll get over it, but its a long and difficult road.

Yet some believed that it was going to happen. That players would turn down the big clubs to stay with saints because they believed in 'the vision' that 100k a week at Man United was nothing when you play with your mates at saints for 30k a week. And now their pint sized hero had gone that isnt going to happen anymore.
-
You're wasting your time fella, the won't have it. Cortese could do no wrong, the players were here because they loved him and would never have left if he'd have stayed. It's far more convenient to blame everything on the people who inherited the situation than the one who caused it, as that would mean a lot of back tracking and admitting they were wrong by the cortese junkies

Such as?

What WBA players got offered moves to top 4 clubs Jamie?
-
His hero has gone and his champions league dream is over. He was like a junkie and Cortese words were like heroin, now he's gone cold turkey and is clucking. Its sad to see but unfortunately that's what happens when you can't handle your addiction.

FFS people, all this complaining, remember where we were 5 years ago!!!
-
I look forward to these claims being dismissed by MLG.
-
According to an agent I heard in the radio the other day his head is already at southampton.
-
Its great that we are even linked with these players, credit to our ambition.
-
He wouldn't pass a medical for a start.
-
Absolutely agree, I mean they could have said they ripped up all the bids and chucked them in the bin, but then sold the players anyway. Now that would be ambition.

I love the fag packet maths that we seen on here from time to time.. So we sell Lalana £25m Lambert £4m Shaw £30m Lovren £20m Schniderlin £30m a leg Pochetino compo £2m Osvaldo £7m = £118m + £35m we had anyway = £153m Sign Pelle £7m Tadic £10m Calasie £10m Forster £8m Virgil £7m Blind £10m (yes blind who is being linked with Barcelona) Vlaar £5m De vrij £12m New left back £10m Danny Ings £8m Redmond £6m = £93m Leaves us with £60m to spend in January happy days. And if anyone tries it on wanting more than £10m for a player they are taking the p*ss coz they know we've got money, they should just sell them and not try and get a good price! this is DISGUSTING I tell thee. This is when we ring up Arsene Wenger for one of our made up conversations about signing Cazrola who hasn't played much or something,
-
Surely this was ambition? It does matter if it wasn't true or achievable, all that matters was it was said, therefore they have incredible drive and ambition.

It certainly was the best football statue anywhere #butnotasheexpected
-
So who has got theirs and put a selfie on twitter/Facebook? What name did you get on the back? I'm hearing they are small sizes and being recommended to go up 2 sizes, fitted and no room round the middle! Bad luck Alps XXXXXXL for you sunshine.
-
'Ian Brennan has done a fantastic job, it's very rare that I am lost for words but I saw the statue last week and its awesome- a tremendous tribute to the great man. Fans have waited a long time for this and its going to be fantastic. I really believe that this will be the best football statue anywhere both in size and level of detail" Those words never fail

He's not young and hungry though??

Hilarious. Well I remember it being on a Thursday night and getting there late, it being standing room only left and being at the back with everyone singing 'we want branfoot out' at the end I'm pretty sure the red card idea wasn't discussed until later on when the meetings were moved to hulse road because captains corner was too small a venue. BTW it was the legendary nirvana joiners gig that pat will tell you 100s of people were adamant they were at.
