We don't miss Osvaldo, we miss the player he was meant to be, indeed is but not for us. You don't lead the line for Italy is you aren't a good player. Whilst some were begging him to sign I had reservations about him given his history and also his motives for joining, if stories are true he rejected us several times before he eventually signed, obviously I don't expect Italian internationals to claim they always dreamed of playing for Southampton but he certainly needed some convincing. The cynic in me says that maybe he took as as a short term move, his real desire was to stay in Italy but Roma were unwilling to sell to rival so he came here for the short term before returning to where he wanted to be. MP clearly wanted him though and I thought he'd be able to handle him but it seems not. Its a shame because he's clearly a good player and a bit of a character which clubs need but unfortunately for us the wrong sort of character as well as money a a great opportunity wasted.

I was slaughtered on here when we signed Osvaldo for daring to suggest that he would replace Lambert in the first team and that in the future he would be a less significant player for us. This was impossible , Rickie was brilliant and irreplaceable if Rodriguez was to be dropped so they could play together this was fine, but there was no way Lambert would become squad player. We're all now seeing why Osvaldo was signed and okay that didn't work out but the fact remains MP and a few of us on here saw this scenario unfolding and were lamblasted for suggesting it.

If this was the case then the ideal time to rest him and give him a break would have been last weekend. Rather than resting the 32 year old 'injured' striker the manager decided to rest players a lot younger and fitter than lambert.

our record against the top teams is pretty poor. only 2 wins against the top 12 sides. We're good at seeing off the weaker sides, not so good at getting results against the better teams. I'm sure i'll be accused of cherry picking but that's how it is.
