it doesn't. I just find it highly amusing. For the last two years Carroll has been terrible, now it's fantastic news that he's not playing against us. So is he terrible or not? It's all very confusing.
-
There was an army of people telling us how terrible Carroll was and has been for the last couple if years. Now it seems he's not so bad and we should be slapping ourselves on the back that he's not playing against us.
-
Wow. Amazing how a good news thread has changed the entire perception of this player. He's gone from a useless cart horse to a Handful who can cause us all sorts of problems in less than two pages. If only we'd had a good news thread for Danny Fox. He'd have been the new Roberto Carlos by the time you'd finished with him.
-
Straw mans argument, are you sure? So Carroll isn't good enough for England but a bit of a handful on his day, right? About the same level as Darren Bent then I guess?. Didn't see too many bricking it that he was playing for Fulham on Saturday. Would it have been 'great news' if he's been unavailable?
-
Oh no munchkins, it's not this thread, this is one of celebration that the donkey won't be playing against us. This forum had been indignant over the last 2 or 3 years that carol is a terrible player and a donkey, I thought that was the long held mongboard view so the good news thread contradicts the default view. Carroll is a Terrible player except on this thread where the cyber high fivers are out and celebrating the news that this terrible player and donkey won't be available against us

Not just me that is seeing the irony here that so many people are saying it's great news that Carroll is banned and will miss our game that it's a bonus etc and that it will rule him out for England yet at the same time the consensus seems to be that he's a terrible player, a cart horse etc. So why is it great news he misses our game?

Monk as manager? I guess that's Chico Flores out the door then.

Saints long term deal with adidas to be terminated?
Turkish replied to doggface's topic in The Saints
Cortese was personally involved in virtually every decision made at the club. -
How do you know people make things up, or don't know people at the club, or people that have had dealings with the club? Just because you don't it doesn't mean that applies to everyone.

When you say 'proof' what exactly do you want? Names and direct quotes?

He didn't leave for that reason mate. We all know this isn't true because a while back there were a group of posters on here who were indignant that you didn't need to be bankrolled to make the champions league. All that was needed was a decent manger and a good academy. This little group of posters were adamant that this was the case, I'm sure you remember them, they were shouting this from the roof tops in our championship days, the intelligent posters they referred to themselves as, other names they gave themselves were the enlightened posters and the positive posters. The intelligent posters have gone a bit quiet on the subject lately no doubt sitting back and smugly enjoying how right they are.

Well the point was he was hero worshiped due to some people believing everything he told them. I questioned it and how he would do it and was called a troll and negative. We don't need a bigger stadium, we won't make the champions league any time soon and cortese isn't here so who is right, the ones who sang his name and hung onto his every word and like little children at Christmas excitedly Hoping this mysterious character they'd read all about would deliver their wishes or those of us that were a bit more realistic and questioned how likely it was to happen?
-
There were plenty of others that hung into every word cortese sake because he told them we might play in the champions league.
-
Cortese won't be delivering it.
-
Some might say negative others would call or balanced and realistic. One thing is for sure, I didn't hero worship and blindly accept every PR spun word said by someone because they told me we were going to play in the champions league in a 50,000 seater stadium. Of course questioning this and the method of achieving it was negative, but guess what? I was right again.

Not playing the victim at all pal. It's a fact that I'm often accused of trolling and talking sh*t yet I get a lot right. As for sources and evidence to proof is there to see. I was sneered at for saying what I did about Adkins and look what happened there. I remember when I said about Di Matteo being offered the job before MP and also when Chelsea were linked with Clyne in the press a while back that they weren't interested in him and said my source was a director at Chelsea who I wouldn't name (I did name him and how I know him via PM to a couple of people on here I have a bit of time for) and was melt with the usual sneering made up comments about the paper and ink salesmen trying to flog Bruce buck a few reams of a4 so that's why you won't get a source out of me, sunshine.
-
You see it's funny. When Adkins was here and I said several times he was a dead man walking, that he had little to no say in transfers and cortese didn't rate him I was given all sorts of abuse and trolling accusations. Several people were big enough to apologies at the time Adkins was fired which was fair play to them but the usual status quo remains that if it's something people don't want to to read it's bullsh*t and trolling. Well like I've said before, for someone that talks a lot of bullsh*t and spends my time trolling I seem to get an awful lot right.

'The committee' wanted to sell lambert the summer we got promoted so I wouldn't be at all surprised if cortese was willing to sell him in January. However given that cortese was meant to have resigned in October and was working his notice it would have been a pretty vindictive move on his part. And we all know he wasn't like that don't we everyone.
-
Funny that. I thought all our players were only here because of the previous chairmans vision and drive and now they all want to leave. he must be lying.
-
Having been unfortunate enough to have seen the first 10 minutes I can understand why the yanks kill so many of their own in combat 'friendly fire' now
-
If Roy is good to his word he said he'd pick players based on club form as well as what they did for England. On that basis Lallana is guaranteed a place and Rodriguez should get another chance In the next friendly.

I certainly feel that we now have the right management team in place to sail the good ship southampton calmly and efficiently on the next leg of its journey to our ultimate destination. With Katrina at the wheel, ably supported by Rogers Reading the maps and Les Reed holding the compass the ships crew has never been more united and focused and this has been reflected in their upturn in performance we have recently witnessed. Katrina has certainly driven us through the choppy water some were predicting and the iceberg that some were insisted we were about to hit a few weeks back appears to be little more than lost, wayward seal which has been clinically dispatched of as the ship continues its course unhindered.

Except that's not what I said at all is it. What i said was this persecution complex that players don't get picked for England who play for us is a load of nonsense. You've got arguably two in the last 25 odd years in Richards and Oakley been mentioned who might have been worth a go bit both had 5 or 6 better players ahead of them in their positions but that's about it. Everyone else in the past who has been good enough has had a call up. Of the current squad Shaws selection is inevitable but he's still only 18 and Clyne is the other one who is ready now and you could argue deserves a cap, but let's not forget he isnt certain to start for us at the moment.
