Some perspective on wages and debt in the Premer League/at Saints
Turkish replied to ant's topic in The Saints
Again they said that this time. There has to come a point I guess but the premier league is a global brand. Can you see that changing anytime soon? It's not even the best league or contains the best teams in Europe yet still people around the world can't get enough of it. -

5 years ago they won the FA cup, finished in the top half of the premier league, had a team containing 5 england internationals and were about to embark on a European campaign which would see them host AC Milan. This time last week they hadn't won a game in L2 and were about to host Morecombe. If that isn't Bubbble bursting then what is? -
a rich mans Hooliveld?
-
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont care if we lose now.
-
Why is it controverisal and why is he belittling Southampton? He makes a valid point, we only play with one striker and we've just signed an Italian international for £13m who plays in the same position. It would appear that Lamberts place could be under threat coming off the greatest week of his career. Some of you might not like to admit it but it could be the case.

how are you meant to be logged onto here posting on the Saints v xxxxxx match thread whilst at the game if the club dont sort out the WIFI? I'm going to send a strongly worded email to Mr Cortese. Its ruining my matchday experience!!

They've been saying "the bubble will burst" for the last 15 years and every TV deal is bigger and bigger. The bubble will only burst for clubs that spend well beyond their means and then get relegated stuck with players on big contracts with no sell on fee. The top clubs will just continue to get richer and richer. -
what, you mean that lazy, fat, lumbering carthorse, the bloke who half of his goals were penalties and was so slow he could outpace a double amputee on a skateboard with no wheels? He'll find his level at someone like Reading and i wish him luck there. Osvaldo is an incredible striker, the striker to take us onto the next level. He should at least be able to match the amount of goals Lambert scored last season.

I bet they issue banning orders to fans that do this.

The two most embarrassing things about this is the 'outrage' from the 'tradionalists' about 30 odd seats that no one will see on match day having a white hash tag on them. And at the other end of the spectrum the backslapping and celebration by some that having a hash tag on about 30 seats that no one will see on a match day is some genius piece of PR and marketing. Liverpool, man City, Chelsea and Everton are providing fans with free WIFI where they can advertise on people's mobiles, we have a hash tag on a seat that you can only see when the ground is empty. The Southampton way- LOL
-
True. There are too many helmets glued to their phones during the game as it is.
-
Evertons will have that. They'll also be able to vote for MOM using phones, get an on line programme on phone, on line betting and so on.
-
Man City have got it using Cisco, probably the best solution on the market. Everton currently have theirs out being bid on by Cisco, HP and Ruckus. Liverpool had theirs installed a while back and it doesn't work, or didnt in preseason trials, they went for Xirrus, much to my amusement. There are several good solutions on the market that can easily handle crowds at SMS.

Be good to have two big lads up front for when we stick it in the mixer if we're chasing a game. If only we had a couple of pacy wingers to get down the line and get the crosses into the back stick.
-
Ahh, that's a relief, he's the man to run onto Rickies flick ons then? From a good old fashioned up and under.
-
I can't believe we've let one winger go and missed out on another one FFS and we still need a terrier in midfield and a small nippy striker to run onto Rickies and Ossies flicks when we get it into the mixer. We need a couple to pacy wingers in before the window shuts or no way will we be able to play an effective 4-4-2.
-
Ah, so he did manage to get out of lovrens pocket in the end then.
-
Is he telling reading fans on their mongboard he played golf with a long term saints fan who said Pochetino is light years ahead of Adkins in terms of tactics and motivation, very popular with the supporters in general!
-
In still not sure when Adkins went from being the next great English manager and the new Alex Ferguson to being the bungling, cliche ridden, clueless bumpkin who was our of his depth. Still Pochetino has proven he is the man to take us to the next level, by matching Adkins points per game record since he's been here.

Nicholas Lyndhurst says Only Fools & Horses would never be made today
Turkish replied to TopGun's topic in The Lounge
Only Fools and Horses is comedy gold. Fawlty Towers too, can you imagine them making a comedy these days which takes the p*ss out of Germans about the war, people hard of hearing etc. It wouldn't get made and if it were to ever slip through the net all the soppy tarts would be spamming the BBC to express their "outrage" -
Its all controlled anyway, the old bill turn a blind eye to a certain amount 'slipping' through.

Not be a celebrity sportsperson that tries hard and fails and then does a stint on reality TV.
-
Yoshida will benefit from playing alongside a proper centre half like Lovern. He was our best centre half last season but that wasn't saying much.

I'm going to the game dressed as Roman Centurian to honour our new signing. I'm also going to stand at the side of the pitch waving ice creams and signing La Sole Mio at Daniel everytime he comes near the touchline. I hope he's a sub so when he's warming up he'll see me and realise how much we all love him.
