Why do some posters revel in players/managers doing badly?
Turkish replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Quite, people do do that and if they see it a different way to the popular view then it's considered trolling and wanting the club to fail. I was very critical of the club during last summers transfer window, i didn't feel that we addressed the positions that needed strengthening as much as we should have and time has proven me right, with only three of the six players signed last summer featuring in our first XI this season and arguably only one of them considered a certain starter. However this season the club have got it bang on and made 3 quality signings in the positions we needed them. I also critiised MP a bit and said at the start of the season that the jury was still out on him, i've been proven wrong on that and we can now see exactly how and where MP has improved us. Happy to hold my hands up to that one, People often confuse criticism with wanting faliure when actually it's quite the opposite. -
For once you are correct Matthew.

What a shame there isn't a tellnicola@saintsfc.co.uk address. It'd be perfect for all the mboard football finance experts to ask serious questions.

'The best coached team in the league by miles..'
Turkish replied to Ulrich van Gobbel's topic in The Saints
I don't think its a striker that is the missing piece, we've two good proven goalscorers in the squad. The missing piece is what Ramirez was meant to be, that creative player who can do something a little different. We don't create many clear cut chances. We are superb defensively, have an excellent keeper, two good strikers but IMO we are that creative attacking midfielder away from being a real force. The problem is there aren't many around who are affordable for us. -
I thought there was a global anti saints agenda In the media?

Surely all that matters is how many shots he has?

Of course some peoples cirmcumstance, like i'd imagine yours are, whereby you're a Saints fan that has moved to another country so it means going to games is very rare so i appreciate that. My own circumstances have changed recently which mean that after years of going to 95% of home games a a fair few aways i wont be able to attend anywhere near as much as a i used to. I'm more refering to the type of person that choses to support a club for no real reason and claims to be a fan. Like the bloke i've mentioned before that i met on holiday once who was a Norwich fan but decided he needed a premier league club to support so chose Chelsea, picking a team, buying a shirt and watching them on telly when they are on doesn't make you a fan.
-
i wouldn't say it makes you a supporter, Loads of people buy football shirts. Do the thousands of Barcelona shirts you see around England these days mean that all these people are Barcelona fans?
-
It depends on what your definition of a supporter is. Anyone can buy a shirt or sit on the sofa or in the pub watching a game, anyway can check the score of a game on their SKy sports app on their Iphone and then brag about how their team has won or dislay faux dispair about losing a game. It's easy to claim to follow a team when they are doing well in the premier league, that doesn't make you a supporter, it makes you a consumer. Supporters are people that actually do something for the club, that go to games, back and support the team in good time and bad and dont disapear like 10,000 so called Saints fans did in 2005 when we were relegated.

A nice happy clappy article praising ALL things southampton!!

There is already a thread on this. *locked* -
You clearly weren't at the game. Your laughable point about hitting the bar and disallowed goals count for nothing yet then go onto say that because we had more shots at goal than them and more shots at target this in some way counts for something. Contradicting yourself Les. Whilst we were good value for the point, played well and defended well, the fact was that we threated little and Man United hit the bar twice, once when really Rooney should have scored and Boruc made at least two excellent saves. Whereas despite having more posession only really made De Geye work once with Clynes shot near the end with the rest of his saves being simple ones, even from Osvaldos golden chance when he should have done much better. Whinge all you want about bias and agendas but the fact is Man United created more and better chances than we did. We did what you need to do at those sort of grounds, defend well, kept possesion well and took one of the few chances you get at those grounds. Thats not bias, that's FACT sunshine.

Fans' team match at Man United - Saturday 19th October
Turkish replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
My first XI a side games in about 5 years told both in terms of fitness and the ability to play a simple 10 yard pass!! They were a very good side with some excellent players, particularly the lad in centre midfield who was superb and their two strikers. All very fit and play together every week. Good finish from Mr Grant for our one moment of glory. -
Thanks Glasge, i knew that you would be one who appreciated my efforts, so many on here are eaten up with their own agendas, jealousy and bitterness it's a bit unhealthy. YOu're not though, thats why you're one of the best posters on here.

Another one getting all upset that I recommended Schniderlin to Saints and now he's here.

Stop being so bitter Jeff.

Ivr just found the email From: 'Turkish'@hotmail.co.uk To: tellrupert@saintsfc.co.uk Subject: Exciting Young French midfielder Date: 19th september 2006 12.41 Dear Saints I am writing to you today to advise you of an excellent young player I have seen whilst on holiday in France last week. Whilst there I decided to take in a game between Strasbourg B and Rennes with my friend who is very knowledge on French football and is friends with a coach at Strasbourg. The young player in question is called Morgan Schinderlin and is one of the most outstanding players I've ever seen. In the game in question he scored two goals, set up one and put in an incredible performance, creative going forward with outstanding passing ability, strong in the tackle and outstanding work rate and position sense. Schniderlin is 17 years old and highly regarded in France. My friend advises me Strasbourg would be willing to consider bids in the region of £1m. I implore you to watch Schneiderlin closely and consider bidding on the player, he is one of the most talented youngsters I've ever seen and I watch a lot of young football! my friend and I are confident this player is a potential premier league star and as his reputation grows will attract interest from the top clubs around Europe. Thank you for reading this email and considering my recommendation. Kind regards Turkish* *names have been changed to mongboard logins to protect the identity of those involved in bringing Morgan to the club.

I was frustrated with him, he hadn't delivered what id expected him too after his amazing performances for stasbourg. Given how skint we were at he time it was looking like a waste of money and my reputation was on the line with the club, I'm glad i have been proven to be an amazing scout as well as a humble and knowledgable mongboarder.
-
Hod my hands up to being frustrated by Schniderlin, hence my post. However I spotted him first, I recommended him to Saints after seeing him play for Strasbourg B in 2006 whilst holidaying there, Even advising Rupert how much he would cost. These are FACT and no amount of jealousy and bitterness will change that!

Listen pal, I watch a lot of French football and recommended him to the club in 2006. Just because he had a bad couple of games when he got here and I got a bit frustrated with him doesn't take away from the fact that I saw him before any of you and maybe if is never emailed tellrupert he might not be here now.
