How far are we off a Top 6 place (fifth or sixth in all reality)?

winning the champions league and fa Cup one season and the Europa League the next doesn't equal success? F*ck me. -
Short memory. He is now, but at the time Walcott left us he was one of the hottest properties in Europe, Bale wasnt. He was a very good young player and a promising full back, he's a totally different player to the one that left us. You claimed Walcott & AOC havent fullfilled their potential because they havent played much, this is incorrect as ive proven. I used 2 full seasons as that is how long AOC has been at Arsenal so its like for like, Bale played less in that period and is the better player, by some distance.
-
utter speculation. in their first two full seasons at arsenal Walcott and Chamberlain played more times for them than Bale did in his first two at spurs, which player has progressed more? For the record AOC 59 appearances Walcott 71 Bale 42

One of the positive things is you'll be able to go on and on and on and on and on and on on here about how great your life is living abroad

I disagree on chamberlain, I don't think he's done anything to suggest he's a top 6 player since he's been at arsenal. He might have the potential but not done it yet. Walcott is at a push, is he better in his position than what is at the other top clubs, you'd have to say, no. Bale is obviously top class. So that's one, possibly two that are genuine top 6 ability based on current performances.

Would he be as good as Chaplow at adding bite to the midfield?

Don't forget Lloyd James.

So Nick G, is 6th no longer a Realistic aim for this squad with no new signings? -
Queuing for season tickets and the new kit.

Blackstock and Best were signed when they were about 17, not officially academy products. Anyway, do you genuinely think them along with Mills, Surman, Gillet, James, Lallana, are top 6 squad players?
-
The9, it looks to me like they are signing young, hungry players who are guranteed to improve and playing them with their own academy products. Isn't this the 'Southampton way'?
-
Exactly, which shows its a once in a generation thing for big clubs that have been setting the blue print for others and with the exception of Ajax, won't have bigger clubs cherry picking their best players.
-
Following, rather than setting one, yes?

Get a 3 year old one if you are worried about depreciation. Car giant are worth a look, they buy up a lot of ex lease and comapny cars and seem to be well priced and have been well looked after.

I had the saloon version, cylinder went twice, alternator, cam belt, brakes, fly wheel, got to the stage where it was one thing after another. Got a 320d saloon now and its simply a different level of car.
-
Does that not suggest to you how hard and rare it is for a club to produce a homegrown player that is genuinely the quality of a top 6 club player? Yet some people seem to think we are going to produce a team full of them all at the same time.

8 out of 8.

Quite a few people have said the others too, not in the way I did obviously which was just to make the point, but have said people will come to Southampton because its a great place to live, near the sea, airport etc.

It's a bit odd that your last 7 posts over 4 days have all been about me or in response to me. Odd.

Yeah I remember us being linked with him, think it was last summer.

They even took the guy that get sacked on the apprentice last night!

Audi A4 or BMW 320 mate, they do cost a bit more but they are worth every penny. Plus far less things go wrong with them. I brought my first BMW 6 months ago and its a pleasure to drive and feels really well made, had no problems with it all so far. Compare that to my car before which was a Saab, £2k cheaper to buy but cost me £3k in repairs over 18 months.

I reckon if we put it on twitter and Facebook it'll be in the echo by next week and discounts will follow by mid June.

I've been offered a couple of jobs without being interviewed, that's what happens when you have a good name, reputation and contacts and they want you.

This forum has a history of outlandish claims about how easy it is going to be to crack the top 6. That all you need is a decent manager and a good academy, that our top young players will ignore the overtures of top clubs to stay here and play with their mates from when they were 11, that top foreign players will join us for less money because Southampton is a nice place to live, what with being near the new forest, thier wives will love West Quay and they can go for a walk and a cream tea in the new forest on days off. You need to learn your forum history before starting mugging yourself off again last time we got into a discussion sunshine.
