Steve Wigley and Les Reed in top 20 list of Prem Mgrs
Turkish replied to Topcat's topic in The Saints
I remember it well,. Wigley interviewed by the media at Staplewood whist sitting in his training gear and asked by the media who was running the first team now and his almost apologetic "i am" reply. Joke. -
FC Saints of Southampton is all set to go. We are going to play at Tottons ground and will start off in the Hampshire League when we all get p*ssed off with prices, Sky and get sold to some American goons.
-
For most games this season we could have had a segregation area of 5,000 seats, it wouldn't have made any difference.
-
In league one our average was about 21,000, that is what i would say is our proper fan base that are loyal, loaded or incredilby lucky as you put it. Therefore if the exra 34,000 that went to Wembley all went to an average of 5 games each our attendance should still be around the 30k mark on average. Considering this is such a great time to be a Saints fan i cant for the life of me think why we cant get to this figure and above every week.
-
Lets be honest, if you could pick a team to have to beat in such a game from this league it'd be Coventry. If we dont win it wont be because Coventry have suddenly decided to play brilliantly after 45 games of being sh*t. It'll be because our players cracked, nothing else.
-
Doesn't this highlight how disapointing attendances have been this season though? 17th best supported club in Britain yet only a 2/3's full ground most of this season when it's the greatest time in most of our lives to be a fan.
-
stop being such spineless, bottle job helmets. We are not going to finish anywhere other than second FFS.
-
So loyal fans dont have a life, right?
-
So they are going to see the opposition and not Saints, yes?
-
So what defines a "big game"? Is it who the opposition are? Like the clamour for tickets everytime we play Man United for example?
-
But for other clubs in the country this isn't supposed to be the best time in their life to support Saints. For other clubs in the country aren't banging on about needing a bigger stadium when they cant fill the one they've got regularly. Other clubs in the country they aren't claiming to be on an unstoppable march to the champions league with a team of academy graduates. We aren't any other club in the country. As itchen says there are plenty of reasons why people cant make games, i just wonder why they dont apply when there is a chance of glory and will no doubt disapear next season when we are in the premier league playing Man United and City.
-
It seems you are one of the 30,000+ then.
-
My cats are all season ticket holders and went to middlesborough dressed as dogs to Show how mad they are.
-
It would seem we've got over 30000 that only go to a few games a season. It's very surprising that as this is supposedly such a great time to be a Saints fan and a team full of shouldbe international players more Of these don't bother most of the time.
-
Quite, no way would we have beaten Brighton if we hadn't got that penalty that was miles outside the box.
-
I was at both of those and dont understand. Please explain.
-
I'm sure it'll be at the back of all their players minds before kick off on Saturday that they should roll over for us because in 1993 or something we beat Luton and it meant they stayed up or something.
-
Chaplow is a hero despite having only played well in about 15 games in his whole time here. He fits the profile a lot of our fans have of what makes a decent player and that is looking busy and workin hard, regardless of quality of end product.
-
Dune is on of the best posters on here. I'm amazed he's been given an infraction when bitter helmets like Robsk get away with what he posted last night. Sue whistle in another one holier than thou most of the time but has on several occasions just posted on a thread to aim abuse at me. Not that I care, but there are definitely double standards on here.
-
We had 55,000 at Wembley two years go for what in reality was little More than a glorified friendly. We are regularly told on here we need bigger stadium, this is such an amazing time to be a saints fan, what great football we are playing and half of our squad ahould be in the England team. Yet that doesn't seem to be reflected in the attendances does it.
-
Bollix to that we want them both fresh for next season.
-
Unless I'm much mistaken the recession is still on, people are still skint, petrol prices are still high, the game is on telly, there is a still a booking fee, public transport is still crap and people still have birthdays and their birds ordering them about. They are all excuses I've heard as to why people can't make it this season. All of a sudden this doesn't seem to be the case, funny that.
-
They cost us th game Jamie FFS. Nothing to do with a world class strike or our inability to close a player down on the end of the penalty area.
-
I'm going to sing "on the pitch" the boo and shout "wan*ers" at anyone that does it.
