  2. you dont think it might have been down to the fact that when he met with us last time his wife was 5 months pregnant and he didn't want to uproot or be away from his family under those circumstances?
  3. You obviously don't get it. There are two compelling reasons to sign him. Firstly he was brilliant for us 8 years ago which means automatically just like Beattie, he would roll back the years and perform even better. It's imperative to our promotion hopes we sign them both, come to think of it what are Matt Oakley and Niemi up too these days? TCDAJFU in the positions we are lacking cover. Secondly and most importantly, Bridge is a Saints fan. We all know that playing for the club you support, especially when it Saints turns you into a footballing god. Remember it's vital to have a team of Saints fans for our champions league hopes. FEt him Sam Vokes, Brian Howard and Wade Elliott along with the return of Beattie we're as good as champions I reckon. It's at Times like this we need a FOTB and he'd really earn his coin by telling that clueless twonk Cortese where he is going wrong.
  4. any of you fitness fanatics trained with these? I recently started and it's the intense work out i've ever know. I've the usual gym stuff like weights, running, rowing, cycling etc but nothing comes close in term of sheer intensity. I did a course a few months ago via my Krav Maga club as on of the instructors is also an RKC instructor and been shown the turkish get up, swing, snatch, goblet squat and clean and press. I'm doing a circuit at the moment of 20 x swings followed by a turkish get up each side and then repeat non stop for 20 minutes and i'm ready to drop after about 10 minutes and stuggle through the next 10 hanging out my arse. Give it a go!
  5. WHy wouldn't he be? If any of the others have a problem with it Nige could ask them to show him their England caps and championship medals.
  6. I would agree with that, we go there at least once a week and have done since it first opened. Been to a other places for a change or been in other town and they've never got anywhere close. Cracking review in the echo recently, she's got it spot on. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/leisure/food/restaurant_reviews/9301923.Coriander_Lounge__Southampton/
  7. Are you seriously putting Adam Lallana in the same bracket at Carlos Tevez, Balotelli and Ronaldo?!!!
  8. SO am i right in saying you'd prefer that we struggle season after season with a team of nice blokes that skip to training everyday just grateful for the chance to play for Southampton. Ones that try hard but ultimately get shown up week in week by superior players than sign players with a bit of an attitude but are skillful, entertaining. The type that if they played for us just might actually fullfil this vision COrtese has that you lot keep banging on about of playing in the champions league?
  9. He's not going to play again this season is he. Out or two months, will need a month to get fully fit then it's his trial in March so his mind will be on that. The best we can hope for is he becomes this seasons Connolly and plays a few games late in the season and grabs a couple of vital goals.
  10. A lot of our fans seem to confuse pace and effort with ability. The clamour to sign Antonio for example. A decent player for a midtable league one player, quick and strong so therefore he must be brilliant right? The fact that he cant get anywhere near Readings team suggests otherwise. SDR is the same, he's great coming on as a sub running at pace against a tiring defence but has been found out when he has started games. He is quick and exciting to watch because he runs at defenders but his end product is often found wanting. If they can do some work with him on the training ground to get this right we cold have a hell of a player on our hands, but what we have at the moment is nothing more than a good prospect and impact player off the bench. We shouldn't be surprised quick, exciting skillful players WITH an end product dont cost £1m and play in the championship. They cost £12m upwards and play in the top 6 clubs. On another note unless Lee Holmes is injured again i cant for the life of me understand why he hasn't been given a start during Chaplows injury, now this is a lad who has an end product, great on the ball, can pass and cross and a good player, he just cant stay fit sadly. If you could comine SDR's pace and effort and Lee Holmes intellegence and delivery then you have a fantastic footballer.
  11. I quite agree. We even said on the way back that it was a real captains performence, really drove the team on. He's been good all season.

    Fox's sub..

What a strange post. Why would he bring on another centre back and have to completely change the formation to accomdate them?
  13. It is every other managers and chairmans dream as well, it's one thing to dream it, another thing to do it.
  14. the take away from the Corriander Lounge. We have never been anywhere else since going there 18 months or so ago.
  15. Difference being Cork was on loan for the last 4 seasons anf no chance of getting near the Chelsea side, Hooiveld & Chaplow out of favour at their clubs (Chaplow joined s from Preston BTW) and Jaidi was a free agent after being released by Birmingham, Should we be in top flight next season what compelling reason would there be for a player to chose us over say a Sunderland or WBA player or to leave them for us? Are we a bigger club? Not really, Have they alwasy dreamt of playing for Southampton? Unlikely. Is it a step up career and club wise? Probably not. It's going to come down to money and our ambition at the end of the day. How much do we want players that are going to make the team better, even if it means upsetting a few people.
  16. There are few things better than getting into a bed with fresh sheets and duvet cover on it.
  17. Who is this Turkey you speak of?
  18. Absolutely, people forget in the summer we all agreed playoffs was a fantastic achievement this season. Top half would be good.
  19. Not at all, but a lot of them spoken about how glad they were to be joining a club like us and it was a step up for them club and career wise. In this league and the league above there will be bigger clubs. Players wont join us because they are joining a bigger club.
  20. That's what happened when we got relegated. THe salary cap meant we had loads of average players and not many good ones. It's all very well having a salary cap and not wanting to upset the other players but sometimes you need to push the boat out if a class player comes available at a good price. Take Van Der Vart for example, not for one minute saying he would have joined us over Spurs but £8m fee for a player of that class is a steal , is it worth breaking the salary ca for a player like that available for that price? Damn right it is. And if your current average midtable player on your books doesn't like it, then ask him to show you his league titles medals & international caps.
  21. This bit suggests booking fees are also going to be banned Examples of these charges are a £6 per person, per leg "administration fee" charged on all but one card by Ryanair, an £8 per booking charge by Easyjet - plus 2.5% when using a credit card, a £4.50 per booking credit card fee from British Airways, and a charge of up to 17 euros (£14.16) per person by Air Berlin
  22. Where was it??
  23. Good work Steve Nichols, battered the fella. WHen was this Scotty? White collar charity boxing?
  24. As we go further up the leagues there is going to be a point where players arent going to feel honoured to play for a massive club like Southampton like the likes of Hammond and Lambert said when they joined us in League one. Players wont be nice blokes who are pleased to be "on the bus" as some of you put it. A lot of you seem to slate players for having the wrong attitude and being a bit of a big time charlie who might upset the team spirit but the higher up the leagues we go the more arrogant the players are going to be and the less of an honour it is to play for a massive club like Southampton when they can chose other massive clubs as well. There will be more Carlos Tevez types, who are just after a big pay day. We've seen a few of you turn your nose up at decent players because they want too much money, bit of an attitude etc etc. Kris Boyd the most recent one. So when do we bite the bullet and decide that we have to pay a bit more, the players wont be nice blokes overjoyed to be here and that the might actually be a bit of a c*nt but they are great players who will push us on a level??
