He's only played about 4 games of us FFS!!!
-
I suppose so, as long as people are deluded into thinking we are signing the likes of Jamie O'Hara and Micheal Owen they are going to be disapointed. On another note, those banging on about Morgan being unproven at Championship level, well so is Chamberlain and Lallana only has one full season there, we need to be looking to improve on these two as well in that case. FFS

writing him off, 21 year old lad after 4 appearances, not forgetting he got a fairly bad injury on his debut.
-
Morgan played there as an 18 year old in his first season here and did okay, he has come on leaps and bounds since then. Apart from his time with us Chaplow has played his whole career in the championship or premier league, he is a proven Championship player, who has done well at all his clubs, apart from Preston. Hammond has done a job in the championship. Stephens only played 3 or 4 times for us, you cant judge him on that but is highly rated. I dont think 2 from those 4 for central midfield is a bad choice to have and I really dont know what sort of players people are expecting us to sign.
-
why? You've got three players that have played at that level before and a very promising youngster who is wanted by Everton. I think it looks a good midfield 4, easily good enough for the Championship. Who exactly are you expecting?
-
If he has then Iniesta might be surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp, HCDAJFU.
-
I'd prefer Scott Parker to be honest.
-
What about getting Martin Cranie back? At Cov now, surely he'd be up for it, always thought he was decent. Talking of ex centre halfs Matt Mills would be quality signing but i cant see him leaving Reading even if they dont go up.

It'll be the micheal Owen signing. FACT.

Best get back on with your 4,000th paintshop pretend saints kit mock ups then.

What really concearns me about this song as it appears that the child is a victim of abuse from it parents/guardian. "wash your mouth out son (child)", what's all that about? Is he being bullied into supporting Southampton? Surely loving caring parents/guardians would present the evidence to their child for both scenarios of which team to support and enable them to make an informed decision for themselves, should such a decison need to be made of course.
-
The whole song is questionable. "i asked my mother" What about those children whose mother is no longer around for what ever reason? What about orphans? This song also promotes murder and the use of firearms, For one i hope the fathers gun is licenced and secondly no wonder there are so many wannabe gangsters with blaze attitudes to gun crime around when the use of firearms is percieved as cool inside football stadiums.

/\ i think Norwich bid for him, but P'Boro wanted £3m for him.

I'll be spending most of my time on here mocking people who think current England internationals are queuing up to sign for us.

I agree with this, the last thing we want to do is dismiss people from areas of Southampton and the surrounding areas. We shouldn't sing "I come from Southampton, the pride of the South" either because as pointed out on another thread, we have a large percentage of fans who come from outside of the city boundaries and this is dismissive of them. I think we should drop "OWTHSGMI" as well, Saints were catholics and surely this song alienates any believers of other religions in our fan base, some people, particularly C of E, Muslims and Jews might even find it offensive and we most definitely dont want to do that.
-
It could be worse, we could have either of these songs to enjoy. The Hull thing is probably the gayist thing i've ever seen inside a football stadium, whilst Villas is just plain awful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gmReDmRCjg

I agree, i think it'd be really cool to sing that, Nigel would love it to and we can do it to show him how much we appreciate him and how funny his interviews are. Maybe next season we could have a themes fancy dress day as well with everyone dressing up as bus conductors to honour Nige? I think when opposition fans hear us singing it and then work out what it's about they'll be rolling round in the aisles with laughter at our wit and good humour.

not at all embarassing either. FFS.
-
Just as well we only need him for the championship, where has been prolific over his career.

Plus the areas around Southampton are not as densely populated, Southampton really only has Winchester, Eastleigh and parts of Fareham as other towns in our catchment area of any note, none of them are particularly big. Newcastle, although being only slightly larger than Southampton as a city itself has Gateshead, South Shields etc which are large densley populated areas. Leeds is a large city and has Wakefield next door which is a very large town and a Leeds strong hold. In fact most northern and midlands clubs have large towns near them to draw support from, although it terms of size might be quite a big area, in terms of population it's probably not that great, plus the area isn't exactly renowned for its passion in football.

Fris-Hansen whoo whoo He doesn't come from Italy we've no first hand factual evidence he f'cking hates Pompey

You cant just base it on the size of the ground. As mentioned Spurs only get 36k because that is all their capacity will allow, that is also Arsenal got whilst at Highbury, they now get 60k a week. Chelsea would sell that many as well. Newcastle are one of the biggest clubs in the country but you could argue that about any club in the top 10, if Everton, Leeds or Aston Villa had recieved the investment chelsea had would they now be bigger? Chelsea have a massive fan base, particularly in the home counties and are now a worldwide brand. They have always, apart from a period in the early 80's where they struggled, been seen as a very big club. They were always considered Londons glamour club and also attract a very wealthy fanbase, i think a recent survery showed Chelsea have more fans earning over £50k a year than any other club. Also for the record Chelseas record attendance is over 80,000 whereas Newcastles is just over 60k. They are not miles apart but I dont think there can be any arguement over which club is bigger, potentially or otherwise.

Would Joey Barton, Nile Ranger etc consider it a step up career wise to join Chelsea?
