I agree he'd be an excellent signing. What about Ronaldo? He isn't the player he once was and is now at Corinthians. Surely he'd love to finish his career (in the third tier) of a top European league. Whilst on the subjects of Brazilians, Kaka hasn't settled at Real, he is the right age to go on the full journey to the premier league with is.

In that case the courts have just sent out a message that it is okay to look at child porn.
-
My thoughts exactly, no one is saying there should be no punishment, but a fine, community services, maybe even just a three year football ban with the threat of something more severe if caught again would suffice. Most of these guys weren't know to the police as troublemakers, what it is is a good story for the echo, who absolutely loved it, headline news on 6 occasions now i believe and a few easy nickings and a bit redemptin for the police who IMO created a situation where this could have happened by letting both sets of fans out at the same time.

They couldn't all the pubs were shut. In anycase regardless of what they should have done, do you agree or not, that jail for shaking a fence and shouting is ridiculous? Particularly in consideration that the child porn guy was spared jail due to the effect on his business and the guy here was not.
-
Stephen Jordan, 49, of the same address, who pushed and pulled at the fencing, told police it seemed the good opportunity for “a toe to toe” fight. It was feared his business, which employed 14 people, would go under with a prison sentence. Michael Byles, 24, of Aldermoor Road, Southampton, handed himself after seeing his picture in the Daily Echo. He had been filmed grabbing the fence and shouting aggressively From the echo website, two jailed for grabbing or shaking a fence. One of which has a business, unlike the child porn businessman he was not spared jail due to this though. Although to be fair i would probably jail someone for 'folding a brick' they must be as strong as Sansom.

This, anyone who puts their life on the line for other deserves respect and a few concessions is a worthy token to them. The ones on here that seem to be against it are the snobby, usual suspects who seem to take delight at sneering at anyone they consider a lesser being with them. On this thread alone describing soilders as f*cking morons, thick and only joining up to play with guns. Even saying every country needs cannon fodder, what a shame we dont have compulsary national service anymore, i'd love to see people like this tell their commanding officers just what a f*cking moron they are.

Nottingham Forest did quite well last season with a few loan players and i believe they have loans this season also.
-
the bloke is a legend, not just a great player but a great bloke too, sport needs people like him.
-
Thomas Pekhart was an awsome signing.
-
they wont now you've posted that on here now will they you pikey.
-
Because some of them are mental. You personally didn't say we can sign anyone we want but a couple of other people on other threads have said we can sign anyone we want and if we are serious about promotion we should pay them as much as we can. As for your comment about Beattie loving the club and the area he didn't think twice about leaving both when Everton waved £40k a week under his nose did he. Connolly didn't leave SUnderland for us, he was released by Sunderland and was a free agent, big difference. That is the only way we would ever get a player of this calibre. We are a league one club and if anyone thinks proven premier league players would turn down offers from other Premier League or even most Championship clubs to play in league one, then they are deluded. Saints fans or not, i'd tell my brother or dad they are mental if they suggested it too.
-
This, but you forgot the 'we should sign xxxxx' and 'why haven't we signed 20 players this summer?' threads.
-
but you are not being offered that, you are being offered to play for Rangers.
-
Oh right, thanks, i just though like a lot of people on here all top players didn't care what level they played at and we can sign anyone we want.
-
To be fair, i can see the logic. Strikers are all about goals, so surely they would all want to play at as low a level possible so they score more goals a season. I fully expect David Connolly to quit Saints and drop down the Southampton Junior 7 so he can bang in as many a season as possible.

Still more attractive than playing league one football.
-
Okay, but in summary 1. Given the choice of playing in the champions league or the Johnson Paints trophy, which would you chose? 2. Given the choice of winning a premier league title in another country or the third divison title in your own country, which would you chose? 3. Given the choice of playing in front of 45,000 and one of the biggest clubs in Britain or 21,000 for a medium sized underperforming club, which one would you chose? 4. Given the choice of a good chance of winnning a domestic double or even treble for the duration of your contract or a title this season then become a midtable, developing Championship team, which one would you chose? I rest my case.

So you went out with a geek before she was famous and you were both at school? Sad c*nt. that bird Rachel that used to do the morning show with Rick on Power FM once was in the Orange Rooms one night and i brushed against her as i went to the bar, i didn't try pulling her as she worked with a c*ck and it didn't suit my super cool image and reputation, sounds a bit like your story.

Joining an SPL team is dropping down one league. What is joining a L1 side then? This is dropping down two leagues!! At the very best most optimistic case we will be a PL side in two years, absolute best, he'll be 34 by then, in reality it's probably going to take 3 years at least. In reality this is his last decent contract, if i were him i'd rather play champions league football and win scottish league titles in front of 45,000 fans at home than in L1 and the championship. There is no argument for Saints.
-
Yes he signed, for £50K + a week a believe. Then quit after one game as he knew he'd made a mistake. What would you think if that had happened to us? Are you another one that just believes transfers happen over night? Do you not think Beattie knew about Rangers interest long before he signed or that they just made a bid one day and the next he joined? I dont want to p*ss on your parade so you carry on believing current premier league players are falling over themselves to join us.
-
No you didn't Stu, stop bullsh*tting.
-
But Jamie, some people seriously believe he would pick us over Rangers.
-
Oh please, so why did you bring it up then? You were using it as a point that a 'top' player will drop down the leagues. However, Sol Campbell signed and quit after ONE game, because he realised it is a **** division he was playing in. If anything he is an advert as to why no top flight player should droop down a couple of leagues. As for Rangers, well he has a great chance of winning two proper cups up there and the scottish title and play in the champions league and will play in front of 45,000 fantical fans every week and play in one of the biggest Derbies in world football 4 times a season. Regardless of if they have to qualify for the champions league or not he still has the chance to play in it, something he would never get if he joined L1 Saints! If you seriously think we are a better option than Rangers you are mental and i clearly have to much time on my hands trying to explain this!
-
Because the Sol Campbell thing worked out brilliantly didnt it. Where did he end up after ONE game for Notts County? If you seriously think Beattie would chose us a league one side over Rangers, one of the biggest teams in Britain and the chance of playing champions league football and winning at least one trophy if not more a season, then you are mad. Also can you say why would moving to the scottish league be seen as intent of retirement and dropping down two divisions, when you have the option of PL or champions league football, not be?

If rumours on here from a few weeks ago are true then Xavi is on his way too, i've love to see them both in a saints shirt before the end of the transfer window.
