Team is ok but with the inevitable injuries the depth is woeful. That is the problem.

Pretty unprofessional. Fonte has done pretty well out of the club.

We had winning momentum and feel good factor surrounding the club in that first season, plus little media pressure as many expected us to go down. How do you feel the mindset of, for example, Fonte might be now versus then?

Most of what Batman says is spot on. If it were any other PL team who finished upper midtable last year then sold 5 or 6 of the best players then we would all be tipping them for a very tough season. Need minimum 6 new players and thats without the possibility of replacing Schneiderlin and Jay Rod potentially. To do that in 5 weeks is tough, and our early games are winnable so would be a shame to not take advantage of that. If we are near the bottom going into the horrendous late November and December run then will be hard to get out.

I thought Pelle was poor actually apart from his finishing. Too soon to say he is a dud, but not impressive. Dany N'Guessan was great though. What an inspired signing, was great versus Leverkusen and again today.

Need to get Clyne signed up, end of this season he will only have one year to run and then all the Cork/Fonte uncertainty will turn to him.

He was ridiculously strong and made good decisions. I felt at times we were a bit too keen to just cross the ball looking for him every opportunity, but no doubt with the right service he will score goals in the area. He plays a lot with back to goal so key is the movement off him. Tadic doesnt seem to want to run in behind so whoever is on the other side has to, as does the most advanced central midfielder. Otherwise its quite easy to defend against.

We needed 2 or 3 anyway and will most likely end up selling 5 or 6 good players. So thats 8 or 9 ins needed. Have got two, so thats 6 or 7 more required in about a month. Unlikely.

Gnabry is a very good prospect so who eould add to our squad no question.

Didnt Koeman just said "Margett" rather than Targett? Rojo would be good but no decent sources are reporting an interest yet, aside from the Express website that is filled with a load of **** and goal.com who are below Alex Crook on the hit ratio. Lets wait and see.

Club equally to blame for having no contingency plans. We knew Shaw was leaving for months let still havent replaced him. Lovren was clear since end of season. Hardly very decisive.

Gnabry would certainly improve us. Not sure Arsenal would loan Jenkinson to be a sub though. If he comes here then I would worry about Clyne's future...

I expect when the season previews come out that we will be relegation picks for quite a few. Which certainly is a possibility. If the signings are right in quality and number then we could do fairly well (10th - 12th) but right now there is so much work to do and quite a few sub standard players hanging around. The best players lift the level of those around them, we will miss that too.

Thats quite possibly what wi happen. By next summer all of Fonte, Hooiveld, JWP, Jay Rod, Schneiderlin, Cork, Ramirez could be gone for one reason or another. Pretty damning that no first team regular has signed a new contract since Cortese left. Managing Saints this season will be the toughest PL job IMO.

He seems almost too calm about it all. Admits we a definitely getting a left back in though and that the team for Liverpool will be different to tonights. Thank god.

More what is Jay thinking? But for the injury he would already have left IMO.
