Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition
Saint Charlie replied to Jimmy_D's topic in The Saints
I think a lot of people need to remember how strong the Prem is. Someone said if we had these four strikers it would be great: Lambert, Sharp, Lee, Rhodes. Really? Rhodes has shone in L1 but we need to add some real quality and shouldn't be signing players we think would be good in the Championship, but players that will have an impact on the Prem. 14 of the 38 games are against Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle. We have fought to get up and need to give ourselves the best chance to stay. If we get players from the Championship or below they need to be the very best players in the league. We need to bring in players who are better than our current best players.... -
Fourth Official just gets stuff he sees on various forums etc and then posts it as if he is ITK.

Andrew Davies deserves a place on the bench - was quality for us.

Only thing to beware is if you buy too many Championship players you might end up a Championship team. Is Jordan Rhodes any better than Sharp? Probably not. Is Trotter better than Morgan or Cork? No. A mix of hungry young players with a couple of experienced Prem players with something to prove. Jermaine Jenas - realistic or out of reach? Stephen N'Zonzi is decent, Man Utd have said they will loan Fabio out, Jamie Mackie when QPR go down? -
Things that have changed in our 7-year PL absence...

Man City are actually good. We will face our three Academy protégés. Diving -
Scored a nice goal yesterday and had another disallowed. Rotherham Manager Steve Evans said he was outstanding. http://www.themillers.co.uk/page/ManagersView/0,,10360~2752629,00.html

Surely what he was meaning was that we and he have done very well the last two years but if it stops being so successful and he leaves then remember these great days and make sure his contribution is remembered. The interviewer said surely he was around for the long term and he said of course but you never know in football. Thats a fair comment. Look at QPR with Warnock. If it starts not to work then Cortese will look at it then and make the best decision in his opinion for Saints.

Classic Nigel! Seems confident we will do the job.

Would be madness in our position to not include a keeper on the bench.

If it all goes pooey what about the playoffs?
Saint Charlie replied to Pilchards's topic in The Saints
Well by your logic, we have 2 wins from 2 games away at Coventry this season, one with a reserve team. Face a home game againts them, best home record v worst away...No way we aren't going up automatically. You must be delighted? -

Not worth thinking of but Blackpool (because of their style) are the only team to fear. -
Schneiderlin is hardly a "stroller". I would say he is the best of our midfielders defensively, particularly with the positions he takes up. Also feel that he is the best at keeping the ball, and that will be crucial to dominating the game. "Fighting for the right to play" is all very well, but if we pass the ball well and play our game we will win.

We owe them, they took SISU so we didn't have too!
-
Guly - fourth top scorer, good goal record at home. Clearly Puncheon won't suddenly come in from the cold for our biggest match in years. De Ridder might be needed as an impact sub.
-
Fair comment - they have mentally prepped for playoffs and auto is a bonus. What would hurt them is if we lose and they only draw or lose!

Nice Summary and shows how far in our favour it is: http://www.kumb.com/story.php?id=126195

We have the best home record in the league - we don't need a wildcard! We just need the players who have won the vast majority of the home games this season to win another one, against the bottom side in the league. Now isn't the time for messing around with the team. It should be this, or as near to as possible: -------------------Davis-------------------- Richardson------Fonte-----Hooiveld-------Fox Guly----------Cork--------Schneiderlin------Lallana --------------Lambert-----------Sharp--------------- Subs: Bart, Martin, Hammond, De Ridder, Barnard
-
Fonte was voted MoM at Palace only a couple of weeks ago. Its easy to remeber just the poor games. Also...anyone suggesting Puncheon might play and Guly on the bench - what are you on? Pretty obvious Adkins will pick Guly, who has featured regularly over the whole season...right call.
-
Head to head which we win. Lets just attack Cov and smash them, they are poor.
-
Bamba makes Aarom Martin look assured on the ball!
-
Could be a good sub if Dyer comes on, will make Leicester more attacking...if they carry on like this WH will score soon...
-
All West Ham...

Any streams?
