Even Higginbotham, who cost us more points in our relegation season than anyone else.

Pele was pretty decent for us in midfield. I remember Leeds away 2006/07 where we won 3-0 and he ran the show. He wasn't that great in defence but he only played there a handful of times IIRC. Saying that he put in a great performance at the back at home the Derby in the league (0-1 defeat)
-
Oh, so you don't even know if he actually said there would be one. Just going by somebody's word on here? Must be 100% true then. Personally I couldn't care less if there's a fans forum or not.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/championship/8309832/Southampton-chairman-Nicola-Cortese-hits-out-at-Premier-League-clubs-over-Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-offers.html Not happy with the way some Premiership clubs acted re interest in Chamberlain. Says he threw faxed bids straight in the bin I love Cortese. Apparently there will be a full length interview with the great man on the Telegraph website tomorrow morning

My god yes it was. One of the worst performances ever. I remember there was a small campaign to refund the fans who went. 5-2 flattered us.

Loan period to open.. Do we have a deal lined up?
Papa Shango replied to Saint 76er's topic in The Saints
Not sure why so many on here are so obsessed with Joe Lewis. Has looked very average every time I've seen him. I know it's not all about him, but Peterborough have the worst defence in the league, so can't be that good surely? -
That save in the Newcastle game was fantastic. Even Shearer applauded it. After that I remember playing West Brom at home and he let in a weak Paul Telfer shot right under his body in the warm up, which didn't exactly fill anyone with confidence. Sure enough he made another blunder in the match itself, where we dropped two vital points. Kasey Keller was brought in after that and Blaney never seen again.

Blackpool are above them and have spent a lot lot less. It's not impossible to do well without spending an absolute fortune. They have plenty of good players too. I probably wouldn't have sacked him, but I can understand why they did. Clearly something is not right there at the moment, and they showed at the start of the season they have the talent in the squad to be much higher up the league. They've been in free fall recently and a change could be just what they need. A lot of WBA fans aren't upset he's gone.
-
We could win them all, but probably won't. You probably had Notts County and Tranmere down as Saints wins too. Five wins would be a good return. Can see us slipping up at Colchester, a **** of a side and a bit of a bogey team.

Rumour has it Di Matteo lost the dressing room. No way back when that happens.
-
How so? Sometimes changing managers has a positive effect. I reckon they'll stay up.
-
Totally agree mate.

Surman was never in the same class though. A very average player who had one good season followed by two terrible ones.

Yawn. Get a life dullard.

No idea if these rumours are true or not (I have serious doubts) but as docker-p said, some of these responses are ridiculous and racist. Just because they are from the Middle East doesn't automatically make them bad, and it doesn't necessarily mean they would care any more or less than our current owners (Or any British owners for that matter). The folks at Man City, as well as pumping huge money into the team are spending huge cash in completely regenerating the area around Eastlands (One of the poorest areas of the city, which will create hundreds of jobs). Doesn't sound to me like people who don't care. Would people prefer that or someone like Mike Ashley at Newcastle?

Nothing to do with believing his own hype IMO. More to do with being burnt-out. The kid is in desperate need of a rest. As mentioned by NickG above the same thing happened with Bale, who had a poor second half to the season. As soon as Lallana is back Chamberlain should drop to the bench for a while.
-
Just got back, totally gutted. Feels like a defeat. One of the most ridiculous games I've ever been to in my life. Will post more detailed thoughts tomorrow when I'm less tired and angry. All I will say is 4 points from two away games isn't a disaster and we're still in a great position. Credit to the Saints fans today though, cracking support on the terrace. Loudest the away support has been all season. Great to hear fans singing Cortese's name at last. Like the 'Saints will tear you apart' song too.

That's fine, I never said he was anything but awful at Forest. He did reasonably well at some clubs and not so well at others. Point I'm trying to make is the same people who rubbish Megson are probably some of the people who think Alan Pardew is some sort of managerial genius (Judging by the ridiculous overreaction when he left) yet Pardew's record is not much better than Megson's. Played his part in taking Charlton down two division's in three seasons, thinks Hayden Mullins is better than Javier Mascherano etc... Nigel Adkins basically did at S****horpe what Gary Megson did at West Brom (Just at a different level). Most seem to think Adkins is pretty good. I think the ginger Mourinho will do alright at Wednesday.
-
Megson was a disaster at Forest no question, although to be fair it was a joint effort with Joe Kinnear. Megson only took over during the second half of their relegation season when Forest were already right down there.
-
After he got them promoted. They were struggling at the wrong end of what is now the Championship for years until Megson came in and completely turned them around. Did brilliantly in getting them up to the Premiership. Budget was very limited, so staying up was always going to be difficult (As every manager they've had since has found). But he got them back up after that. Go ask West Brom fans what they think of Megson. They were chanting his name and calling for his return for most of Bryan Robson's reign in charge, so he can't have done that badly. Nigel Adkins got S****horpe relegated too. Is he a bad manager?
-
He did well at West Brom. Was decent in his short spell at Leicester, and did well initially at Bolton who were really struggling when he took over. Not saying he's the greatest manager in the world but he's more than capable for a League 1 team. His record isn't really much worse than Pardew's, who many Saints fans see as some sort of managerial god for some reason.
-
Agreed. Brings back memories of Derby singing it when they beat us in the play-offs. Thankfully it's never really got going with our fans.
-
While Megson is unpopular with just about everyone, he's actually a better manager than most people give him credit for. Mandaric knows him from his Leicester days too. Could be a good move for Wednesday.
