  1. Nothing wrong with the flare. Not like the guy threw it at our fans, no harm done and it looked pretty darn cool. United fans weren't as good as they have been previously when they've been down here, but they were still by far the best fans we've had at SMS this season. Top class support. Wish our away support was more like theirs.
  2. Shame that **** Steve Evans is managing Crawley.
  3. Bart wasn't here in the Prem.
  4. Definitely Kelvin. Some people have short memories. Kelvin has saved us countless times. Remember Sheffield Wednesday away? Brighton penalty etc?...
  5. To be fair about 75% of United's travelling hardcore support is actually from Manchester. And even if they're not from Manchester, fair play to them for actually spending their time and money travelling away to follow their team. It's the United 'fans' who never bother even attempting to go to games and live nowhere near the place that bothers me. And besides we've got plenty of fans that aren't from Southampton. You only have to look at some of the locations of users of this forum to see we have supporters all over the world.
  6. If only you'd mentioned this earlier.
  7. Not sure why people are moaning about the United fan with the flare. It's not like he threw it in the Saints end. Looked pretty cool.
  8. They're Man United, they do what they want!
  9. I brought this up on the Man United build up thread. Yeah 2007 wasn't on TV. The game was on a Sunday because United were playing Portsmouth at home on the Saturday.
  10. Morgan did it on a cold Tuesday in Oldham recently so why not. The whole 'fancy dan foreigner won't fancy it in the cold' is a really lazy stereotype anyway.
  11. A few thoughts Very good performance, have no real complaints. Wasn't expecting anything other than a comfortable United win, so to give them a scare and match them for much of the game was a credit to the team Never mind Chamberlain, I wouldn't be surprised if Ferguson starts to keep tabs on Schneiderlin after today. MOTM for us without doubt. How some fans don't rate him is ridiculous. He is a top draw player. Danny Butterfield looked good. I'd rather have him at right back than Richardson. Dan Harding probably had his best game this season today. Don't think much to some of United's fringe players like Gibson and Obertan. Ryan Giggs completely changed the game when he came on. Even at 37 the guy is a class act and a credit to football. Scholes has still got it too. We gave him way too much space. Contrast that to the subs we had and that was the difference between the two teams. Bit disappointed with United's support which is usually first class. Was ok at times, especially after they took the lead, but they're usually a lot louder than they were today. Our support was pretty good though. On the plus side, no distractions now. Getting out of this league is obviously number one priority and we have no excuses now. Massive game on Tuesday at Exeter.
  12. Here are the all important FM stats for those asking.
  13. With any chance of signing Charlie Austin now officially gone, I'd be very surprised if we made any big transfer now. Maybe a striker on loan, but that'll be it.
  14. I have a theory, but I'm sure I'll get absolutely slaughtered for saying it so I won't. You make a very good point though.
  15. As people have said, absolutely ridiculous to fine the club for playing players in their 25 man squad. Who are the PL to say that wasn't actually the best side they could have put out for that particular game anyway? Surely it's all subjective what players are better? That said it would be crazy for Holloway to resign over £25,000 after all the good work he's done.
  16. Not sure why everyone's having a pop at Kaiser Soze. It's quite obvious we were interested in Austin, and may well have had a bid accepted at one point only for other clubs to come in on the deal. He was always going to choose a Championship club like Burnley over us though.
  17. My favourite memories of Paul Wotton are from last season at Northampton away where two fans stood right behind me got in a punch up after an argument over whether he should be in the team or not. Also Brentford away last season with the non stop chanting of "Paul Wotton football genius".
  18. Wouldn't be surprised if Real Madrid put in a late bid.
  19. Nothing to do with us being in League One then?
  20. First Saints Game:- Bolton at the Dell, August 1997. Lost 0-1 First Away Game:- Tottenham, 1999/2000 season. We lost 7-2 after leading twice. Best Away Trip:- 2003 FA Cup Semi. If we are talking league I'll say Preston 2008/09 Favourite Saints Memories:- The whole FA Cup run of 2003. Any wins over the Skates. Getting Hoddle the sack. 3-2 win over Arsenal at SMS (Niemi triple save, Delgado etc). Wembley last year. Worst Saints Memories:- 1-4 @ Fratton. and relegation x2 Preferred Strand St. Mary's:- Itchen Preferred Stand The Dell:- Milton Road St. Mary's or the Dell:-St. Mary's. Wasn't able to get a season ticket at the Dell so I'll go with SMS. Have only missed two games since it opened. Best current player:- Adam Lallana. Favourite Players technically other than Le Tiss:- Djamel Belmadi Favourite Players cult wise other than Le Tiss:- Marian Pahars. Antti Niemi Favourite unsung heroes:- Morgan Schneiderlin. Chris Perry. Favourite Manager:- Gordon Strachan Most hated Players:- Peter Crouch and Martin Cranie. Worst Players:- Too many to mention Worst Manager:- Steve Wigley Where will Saints be in 5 years time realistically:- Back in the Premiership.
  21. No Lallana= No chance. Not that I'm bothered. Obviously saving him for the League is much more important.
  22. I'll try and explain slowly. Well you see teams like Wigan, West Ham and Wolves have LESS points than Blackpool. Which mean they have to win MORE games between now and the end of the season than Blackpool. Based on the form over the whole season so far Blackpool have proved they are better than all those sides. They are also above teams like Fulham and Birmingham. The teams in the bottom three have shown very little signs of putting a big run together and getting out of it. I never once said it was 100% guaranteed they will stay up, of course there is a chance that Pool could drop into it and the sides below them could overtake them, but the odds are very much in favour of Blackpool staying up right now, anyone can see that. As for the form guide, so what? Chelsea were near the bottom of that a few weeks ago. West Brom and Wigan have the same amount of points in the form guide as Pool, and Wolves are hardly doing great either, so it's not like all the sides below them are looking like rocketing up the table. Blackpool's performances have been very good recently despite the results and they've shown they've got enough to get the 10 points or so in the next 15 games that they'll need to stay up (Which really isn't a lot). And like I keep saying, worse comes to worse they'll be at the same level as us anyway next season. They won't be in League 1 though like we could be. You can argue about the exact % chance they have of staying up all you want, it was just some number I threw out there. The point is they have a more than reasonable chance of still being in the Prem next season. We have NO chance. Anyway you're completely missing the point (again). I like how you still haven't addressed any of the other things I said in that post you cut out either.
  23. See above. You're completely missing the point, I never said they were safe. I like how you cut out the rest of my post and didn't dispute anything else.
  24. And there are 5 teams below them in the table. I never said they were 100% safe, but there's more than a decent chance they will stay up. Chances to play in the Premiership don't come along every day. If he only played there for a few months before getting relegated than that's more than we can offer anyway. He does well in that time and he could get picked up by another Premiership team. Or more than likely Pool will stay up and he'll have at least 18 months of PL football. The WORST that'll happen if he goes to Blackpool is they'll end up at the same level as us next year. Or he could go to us, and we might not even get promoted. You are completely deluded if you think we are a better option. If I wasn't a Saints fan and in Austin's shoes I would choose all of the other three clubs interested over us. So would anyone with a brain.
