Middlesbrough fans sing Steve Gibson's name (Or did at least). The Skates used to sing about Mandaric.

True. Although all of your suggestions are rip offs from Man United. Would be nice if we could come up with a few original songs that aren't sung by loads of other clubs. The last decent/funny chant we came up with was "Swing Lowe"

People have been saying the bubble will burst for as long as I've been following football. Maybe it will at some point, but I can't really see it for a while.
-
Why is it a shame? He's been sh*t, should have gone long ago.
-
Good for him, but I hope the kid doesn't get burnt-out. He could end up playing about 50 games this season. Might not be the worst idea to give him a rest at some point.

Just because there are more fans doesn't mean the atmosphere will be better. We had 1500 odd fans at Exeter last night, yet the away end was virtually silent for most of the game. Some of the noisier away games have been where we've taken fewer fans (Like Oldham)

Agreed.

Actually think this one is quite good.

Illingsworth is an absolute tool. Some of the stuff he comes out with is hilarious. He compared the current regime at the club to the crooks at Portsmouth a few weeks ago. He also said at the start of the season we shouldn't have got rid of Lee Molyneux as he is better than Dan Harding (swear to god I'm not making that up). -
We don't really though, do we? I remember Oldham fans singing this when we played up their a few weeks ago, and then sitting down when the stewards told them to.

Be nice if we can get some original songs going for players. Most of the songs in this and the other chants thread are either recycled versions of songs we already have or rip off's from Man United (eg Anderson-son-son). Would be cool if we had a few songs that weren't sung by every other club.

Not a classic performance by any means, but it's all about picking up three points at this stage, doesn't matter how we do it. It's the type of game we would have lost/drawn in previous seasons. I'm sure people will again be calling for Kelvin to be dropped after their goal, but remember he made a couple of brilliant saves to keep the score down when it was 1-0 Exeter. Thought Dany N'Guessan looked very good. He created a lot with his pace and strength. My only complaint from him was missing that chance in the first half that hit the bar. Thought we missed Guly last night, wasn't that impressed by Barnard. Chamberlain was relatively quiet. Thought our away support was the quietest I've heard all season. Dead silent for most of the game.

The idea that you can only be a real fan if you support a lower league team is ridiculous. Also, anyone who says they prefer League 1/Championship to the Premiership needs their heads examined.
-
What a great transfer window. Chaplow, Guly, N'Guessan and Forte in. Lallana and Chamberlain staying. Couldn't ask for much more really. Good job Cortese. Thank god it's over now though and we can concentrate on getting out of this ****ty league.

Wasn't the whole idea of having a subscription based forum to prevent things like this happening? Bit poor really.
-
Be shocked if Lambert ends up at Newcastle. Don't think their fans would be happy at all if they replaced a £35million striker for a lower league journeyman who is nearly 30.
-
Don't know a great deal about Forte, but his goalscoring record isn't exactly brilliant. 9 goals in 91 for Scunny.
-
No chance. And I say that as a big Suarez fan.
-
Surely Chaplow can be just as good a leader with or without the armband?

Here's the excellent Zonal Marking's perspective on the game. Thought it might be of some interest. http://www.zonalmarking.net/2011/01/30/southampton-1-2-manchester-united-fergusons-switch-back-to-a-system-with-width-turns-game/

Indeed. I think you'll find Crawley are not very popular with other non-league teams, who will all be rooting for Man United in this one. Doesn't help that they are managed by a crook either.
