  1. The new Arsenal stadium the priority for me
  2. I vote for "Alpine". The amount of abuse he receives and the FACT he still comes back for more must make him the bestest most loyal fan......
  3. The distribution factor is why we are quite likely to end up with a new keeper from abroad, see how Swansea have benefited this season. Besides having Kelvin on the bench would mean he would still be a big part of every match day, and we would all be happy in the knowledge that we had a great understudy, and maybe a future as part of the backroom staff
  4. Went to Anfield yesterday, and frankly it would not take much for us to match either Liverpool or Stoke on yesterday's showing. Neither could keep possession, and neither put as much pressure on the ball as some of our opponents this season.
  5. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/mar/17/football-songs-mocking-dead There is a piece at the end of this article saying that Man U are going to follow the Newcastle example and move the away fans to a remote area of the ground.
  6. Just reading the "Voices from the Titanic" book. It starts... The morning of Wednesday 10th April 1912, dawned bright and breezy in Southampton, but the cool spring air was heavy with anticipation. For, in a few hours' time, the biggest ship in the world, the White Star liner Titanic would set off for New York...... The inaugural voyage of this magnificent vessel was expected to be an occasion that would live in the memory for years to come. And so it proved. Eerie parallels to the morning of 7th April 2012. Change the biggest ship in the world to something else and Titanic to PFC setting off for Southampton and we may have a memory that will live for many years to come when the titanic PFC go down.
  7. Is that the same west ham who do not put a keeper on the bench?
  8. 54 Born Worthy Down, grew up in Gosport, now occasionally seen at home in Chandler's Ford, often in Bridgnorth, Sharjah, and latterly Brisbane, oh and near the half way line in the Kingsland. First home game Manchester City 1966, our first game in the top flight. First away game sometime in the early seventies. Not sure, but I was at that Bristol Rovers game highlighted on another thread the other day!
  9. Strange game, we did not get our usual passing game together all match, we played it early for Lee most of the first half, and our chances came from transition or early balls. Not like us at home at all. Ipswich to be fair closed us down all over the pitch, and played well for large parts of the second half. Still, I am sure most would be pleased with four points from the last two games.
  10. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2012/mar/06/blackpool-karl-oyston-players-wages An article by David Conn today includes the following statement from the Blackpool chairman when discussing players wages......... "I am stubborn, I just won't blow the club's money, so we had a big cash surplus," he argues. "If I had spent the £11m on players' wages, nobody would be complaining, but that money would be gone to Ferrari dealers and whatever else players spend it on. So many clubs have fallen into financial trouble by paying players too much – I don't see a massive queue of ex-Portsmouth players lining up at Fratton Park to help Portsmouth now.
  11. BC wanting to take over would be the leagues worst nightmare. Decisions will have to be made (FPPT and further points deductions) and explanations given for those decisions. Much easier for the club to fail to make it to the end of the season!
  12. In slightly related news.... Former energy secretary Chris Huhne has hired Harry Redknapp's legal team to fight allegations of perverting the course of justice.
  13. So, if they go bust, do not finish the season, reform, get back into the FL in say 6 years time, does the minus 10 points that did not contribute to their relegation await them on their return?
  14. Probably the new licence system announced yesterday by the FA, the licence fee will no doubt be variable and will probably include a sum at least equal to the outstanding football creditors debts, which the FA as the licence holder will donate as a gift to those individuals or clubs owed money. This way the PL and FL are not implicated in insisting all football related debts are paid in order to get the golden share.
  15. The take on it from the Grauniad.... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/feb/29/transfer-rumours-walter-samuel-tottenham The Star reports that Brian Howe, once the singer with the band Bad Company, is back in the running to buy Portsmouth from the club's administrators after failing to go through with a bid in 1997 when Martin Gregory and Terry Venables owned Pompey. Bad Company … Portsmouth … fish … barrel.
  16. As you say, this just passes the problem to the new owners, who to get their golden share, will have to settle the football debts. So although the club may sell for a nominal pound, the cost of entering the league is growing by the outstanding wage bill each month.
  17. From second post of the meeting.... -The debt of the club is valued, in total, at approximately £46m, but this does include the debt to CSI, the debenture etc What does it include then, as CSI and the (17m) debenture is £28m in the figures we have been working to......
  18. Maybe they will only pay the pp to the old co or the CVA?
  19. In today's Grauniad......... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/feb/19/portsmouth-administration-barnsley Though they have the smallest squad in the division, at 19, many are on Premier League wages with Premier League experience, notably in defence, and they held on until the last 15 minutes. Until funds were released through administration they claimed not to have the wherewithal to travel or the minimum 14 players to fulfil the fixture. Having hunted for a copy of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Championship, they went by coach rather than air and left the bench two-fifths empty. Stools would have done. And this was a club that won the Cup in 2008 – in hindsight maybe under false pretences. Appleton, a model of wry philosophy, said he could not fine Kitson as he had not been paid. "I try to control what I can control," he said. "Hopefully the Football League show sense and let us get players in or other clubs could start complaining. All we want is a level playing field." That was Hill's point: level for Pompey may not be level for others At last, the papers are revealing the truth of the sorry affair.
  20. Ce T-shirt devrait commencer un bon fil sur TSW Best thread for years guys!
  21. His first job is to see if the business is a going concern, he is liable for losses from the date of appointment, and he must find cash to pay his fees. So he will have to start to cut costs to meet the income - better re-arrange the postponed game quick to get some more pennies in. One of his team will have to investigate and report on the conduct of the directors in the period leading up to administration for the Department of business innovation and skills (formerly the DTI). If the directors are found to have been knowingly running an insolvent business, this is reported and the (DTI) and they must consider any punishment such as being barred from being a company director for a period, or in really bad circumstances they will be faced with criminal proceedings, a couple of directors resigned soon after CSI went into administration!.
  22. Hi Brizzie, as you know I have been going back and forth to Brisbane over the past few months. As you know the mining and oil and gas sectors are going mad in QLD, and even more so in WA. Average salaries have been rising since we started recruiting last September. http://content.mycareer.com.au/salary-centre I was in Perth in 93, whilst a lot has changed, as others have said it is a long way from anywhere and they have a chip on their shoulder about it. Mind you the money is good. On balance I would rather be in Brisbane.
  23. Grauniad reports "High Court beak Mr Justice Norris is satisfied that Portsmouth is insolvent, and hopes the appointment of Birch will allow the club to "stagger on" until a new buyer can be found." http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/feb/17/football-live-blog-17-february
  24. Not sure how much time Birch will have to investigate prior dealings, I suspect his time will be spent cutting costs to meet income and trying to find a buyer before the cash runs out to a point where liquidation is the only answer. I suspect that time frame is very short.
