Could be worse, we could have a former manager and owner in court on tax evasion charges relating to our club, we could have a winding up order from HMRC against us, and we may be wondering if we will survive long enough to get a points deduction.

I tend to go with the theory that the FL are waiting for HMRC to finish them off, but this £10.8m is a problem for them if they do not. Shifting debt and assets, such as the ground and any charges, in the case of PFC is regarded by the FL as gaining an advantage unfairly, this was one of the clarifications arising from our case regarding holding companies and if they are linked. So they either owe CSI £10.8m, and they must repay it, which they cannot, or they shifted the ground and the charge to CSI to gain an advantage by using the "cash" to strengthen their squad. Either way if HMRC do not get them, the FL under pressure from the other golden share holders will have to act. The FL would always want to protect the "integrity of the competition", but this could be viewed in two ways, the scenario above, a club gains an advantage by shifting debt, or the full fixture list is completed. The FL would much rather have this sort of event happen close season when points can be deducted before the competition starts. They do not want to be in the position of expunging results, or deducting points which may affect the ability of a club to find a buyer, though I think it has gone beyond that last hope for PFC now.

Over 80, a former player in the days when in his words "the money was not enough to keep him in beer and women". Always look forward to his spot on 5 live.

Some time back the football league made a fuss about clubs who did not pay their taxes, and how they would be punished. Perhaps they were trying to head off the football creditors case. Either way, I am sure those with good web research skills (there are lots on this board) will be able to find the relevant articles. My search on the FL site came up with the following: 1) A link to the regulations (not enough time at the moment to search all that) 2) That referee Kevin Wright works for HMRC, so I presume he cannot be appointed to PFC matches for conflict of interest reasons. 3) An interview from December 2009 between the FL and supporters groups with Malcolm Clarke and Dave Boyle, "Clarke is the elected Chair of the Football Supporters Federation (FSF) whilst Boyle is the Chief Executive of Supporters Direct (SD) and both men are well known within the corridors of football's highest powers acting as crucial links between the terraces and the boardrooms" Which includes this quote "Last season (2008/09) there were massive points deductions for some clubs in The Football League which was needed at the time to prevent another situation like that at Leicester City but we welcome the measures of The Football League to get clubs to give assurances about payment of tax bills before entering financial difficulty, not after. The Football League is moving on, there is now much greater regulation at the front end which is stopping clubs from living beyond their means. We hope and believe that this will result in clubs paying their tax bills and the arrangement that HMRC can notify the League of defaulters is very healthy." Well that does not seem to have worked then! Time to cultivate the link I have with a member of the senior management team of the football league.

When this thread finally comes to an end, it would be fitting if Fitzhugh Fella could write a eulogy as the final post

It surely has to be liquidation, you can only go into administration if you are a going concern with cashflow problems and protection from your existing creditors will enable you to survive. Presumably that is why AA is using the language that he is. No way are they a going concern, and as administrator for CSI it is his duty to get the £10.8 million back for the creditors of CSI, not to extend the life of PFC by not seeking repayment of the loan. This is where the involvement of Chinney and his liens on both companies becomes very messy.

And if that succeeds, then clubs will be choosy who they sell players to, because they might not get paid!

Footballers chewing chewing gum while playing
positivepete replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
May I agree with Alpine?! The FA makes a point of warning against this habit on safety grounds, but as usual do nothing to stop those associated with the Premier League and the high profile they enjoy. There have been a couple of football related deaths as a result of choking on chewing gum. A few years ago the campaign was a big as the goalpost safety campaign in Junior football. -

[quote=david in sweden;1223148 Really sounds like an interesting bid.. I hope that SFC help him to adjust culturally....Hiroshima must certainly be a bit different from So'ton. Hiroshima play in an athletics stadium with a capacity of about 12,000 so he will see the difference there. Mind you the town park is a bit bigger than ours

Saints 0 Bristol City 1 - Post Match Reactions
positivepete replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Just back from the game. For those of you that were not there, sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition. Brizzle played well, and credit to them for that. The ball did not run for us tonight, it happens. We are not suddenly a bad team -
Hi KS, sorry I missed you. Glad you had a good time. Should be back to take in a Roar game mid to late January. See you in the Caxton!

Bought "two together" in the Kingsland today, before the match, and the closest to the centre I could get was back row of block 28 or back of block 36

Just back, Morgan MOM today, best player on the pitch by a mile. Cork had his best game for a while. Very good first half hour from both sides. Two very good headers from Guly, he put an extra shift at right mid when DeRidder went off.
