    Billy Sharp

Seems like Barnsley were prepared to pay Billy's wages: http://www.barnsley.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=332876
  2. He's got a good goalscoring record for England - that's 3 goals in 11 games for the u19s and he also scored 3 in 6 for the u17s.
  3. Couldn't agree more. Lallana had a poor finish to the season (post injury) but he did well prior to that. Yes, his shooting can be powder-puff at times and sometimes he tries to do too much but to say that he isn't premier league quality is just plain wrong.
  4. Another positive piece here: http://blog.squawka.com/2013/06/17/bargain-of-the-summer-saints-beat-liverpool-to-transfer-of-croatian-defender/2013061710901
  5. Complimentary piece about him here (linking him to Chelsea): http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1622409-scouting-rumoured-chelsea-transfer-target-dejan-lovren
  6. Courtesy of google translate: Southampton Sevilla and want to be with Diego Castro Diego Castro (30 years) has a contract until 2015 and is one of the mainstays of Getafe. The president Angel Torres expects concrete deals. Diego Castro is one of the most sought after Getafe players and there are two teams interested in signing him: Seville and Southampton. The Andalusian club denies it, but have thought of him as a possible replacement for Jesus Navas, a player who has left Arsenal. Diego Castro, but is right-handed, played either by one or the other band, even more common on the left side. The other party is the English of Southampton, team coach Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine coach has requested hiring Diego Castro, whom he knows well from his time on the bench for Espanyol. Recently, Diego Castro spoke of his future before the holidays begin: "I'm open to all possibilities, here in Spain or other experiences, but I signed a long contract with Getafe and here I am happy and calm". Diego Castro (30 years) has a contract until 2015 and is one of the mainstays of Getafe. The president Angel Torres expects concrete offers, "If they finally arrive, we sit down and negotiate."

    Bale celebrating

You must be reading the wrong papers then. Living in Cardiff I get to read a lot of local press about Bale and he's always quick to acknowledge the part we played in his career.
  8. Top man, top manager. He could (and should) have been our manager for may years to come. Thanks Nigel for a fantastic couple of years - can't remember enjoying being a Saints fan as much as I did during his tenure.
  9. Absolutely disgraceful decision.
  10. Liverpool are looking to loan out Sebastian Coates apparently - thought he looked good in the Olympics for Uruguay. Gaston may also appreciate a fellow countryman at the club.
  11. To the tune of Pinball Wizard: Ever since I was a young boy, I've played with a leather ball. From Soho down to Brighton I must have played them all. But I ain't seen nothing like him he made me look a fool That quick, short and blond kid Shaw plays a mean long ball
  12. Think it was actually Chambers with the equaliser... the commentators have been getting him and Curtis mixed up all evening
  13. Southampton FC ‏@officialsaints GOAL! SAINTS U21 3-3 BRIGHTON U21 (LEE 84) #saintsfc
  14. Looks like we might be paying 800k for Davis according to this http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/sfl/2012/07/21/fifa-tell-newco-rangers-they-re-owed-nothing-for-stars-who-left-but-club-will-receive-800k-for-steven-davis-86908-23910816/
  15. Seems as though he can also play right back (bottom of article): http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/clubfootball/news/newsid=1660853.html?cid=rssfeed&att=
  16. He shows up well in this video (highlights of match againstt VVV-Venlo - scores ones, sets up another): One of the comments underneath seems to rate him higher than the left back the Dutch took to the Euros (Willem).
  17. Yet another player linked: Juanfran Moreno http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.goal.com%2Fes%2Fnews%2F21%2Ffichajes%2F2012%2F07%2F04%2F3218605%2Fbetis-espanyol-granada-sporting-y-osasuna-quieren-el-fichaje%3Fsource%3Dbreakingnews&act=url

  20. It was due to a work permit we couldn't sign Adebayor (as a 19 year old): http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11700_2272487,00.html
  21. I thought he played well against us up at their place - gave Fox a bit of the run around. Looked to have decent pace and a few tricks.
  22. Best of luck running the marathon (I trust you'll be wearing a saints shirt).
  23. So it was you I was bidding against! Thought it might be somebody on here.
  24. Agree completely with this. He had a great game on Tuesday - playing a number of great crossfield passes (one which led to the goal), making numerous interceptions and even breaking into the box on a couple of occasions (not bad for a holding midfielder). He always seems to be so assured on the ball, even in the tightest of areas and just keeps us ticking along nicely.
  25. jordansibley: On the bench for Saints tonight are: Cork, Sharp, Martin, Connolly and De Ridder
