Kieran Freeman? Has had terrible luck with injuries since joining but is a highly-rated right back

He’s also suggesting the price would be nearer £18 million...

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/dusan-tadic-leaving-southampton-for-dream-club-ajax-was-easy-decision-a3874586.html Dusan Tadic has revealed it was an easy decision to leave Southampton for 'dream' club Ajax because he had nothing left to prove in the Premier League. Tadic, who played as Serbia lost 2-0 to Brazil in Moscow on Wednesday to exit the World Cup, has signed a four-year contract with the Dutch club for an initial £10million, which could rise to £11.4m He spent four years at St. Mary's, scoring 23 goals in 162 appearances for the club. The winger said: "I'm very happy because Ajax is one of the biggest clubs in Holland and the world. It was always my dream to be at Ajax. It was an easy decision because I had a lot of opportunities in the Premier League and other countries but I think Ajax is best for my future. "I did good in the Premier League. In four years, I was for three [of them] in the top five best assisters in the Premier League and probably in the top ten of creating chances. I'm very proud because Southampton is not the biggest club in the Premier League and the Premier League is the toughest league in the world. "I showed I can play there at high level. I had beautiful years with Southampton - great club, great people, great supporters - and I'm very proud of my four years." Tadic said he was leaving Saints with the blessing of manager Mark Hughes, who guided them to Premier League safety after replacing Mauricio Pellegrino in March. "I'm sure that Mark Hughes, with his assistants Eddie [Niedzwiecki] and Mark [bowen], will do great for Southampton. I wish they had come before," Tadic said. "It was a pleasure to work with them. They will do a great job without me and I felt it was a moment for me to leave. We [me and Hughes] had a message today. I'm pleased to work with him and his assistants, they're great people, great coaches. They're best possible choice for Southampton. All people in Southampton should be happy to have them at the club. "I'll miss supporters. And you're very good journalists," joked Tadic. "Very honest! It was nice to work with everyone and I was very pleased with everything. What can I say? The Premier League is the best league in the world and you [the English media] should be proud of the standards. "What will I not miss? The weather! No, seriously, There's nothing I won't miss. I really enjoyed football. It was a pleasure every day, every moment. Everything was nice."

Wonder if Harrison Reed will be going the other way as part of the deal?

It isn't simplistic at all. He has voted 'consistently' for a cut in spending on welfare benefits - out of 54 votes he has voted 52 times against, 0 for and been absent twice. The same with higher benefits for illness and disability (14 votes against, 0 for). By all means try and find his arguments against each of the bills but I think it's pretty reasonable to infer what his beliefs are from how he votes.
-
I don't think you can argue that it's meaningless - this isn't one vote taken out of context - his voting record show he has consistently voted against welfare benefits and gay rights (7 votes against to 0 for). I think you can draw pretty good conclusions from how ministers have voted over the course of their career.
-
There's so much to dislike Rees-Mogg it's hard to just pick one thing: Consistently voted for reducing housing benefit for social tenants deemed to have excess bedrooms (which Labour describe as the "bedroom tax") Consistently voted against raising welfare benefits at least in line with prices Consistently voted against paying higher benefits over longer periods for those unable to work due to illness or disability Consistently voted for a reduction in spending on welfare benefits Consistently voted against an annual tax on the value of expensive homes (popularly known as a mansion tax) Generally voted against laws to promote equality and human rights Consistently voted against allowing marriage between two people of same sex Consistently voted against equal gay rights

And according to that second story he’s entitled to 15% of the transfer fee - he may well be keen to push through the move

Bit like Owen Hargreaves on BT Sport saying Utd were unlucky not to be given the offside ‘goal’. Unlucky that the linesman and referee applied the laws of the game...

Absolute nonsense from Poll - second phase my arse. He touched the ball - what is the keeper expected to do

I think that's true although to be fair we do play a very young team at U18 level. We were bolstered last night by a few lads (still u18s) who normally play for the u23s (Vokins, Slattery, O'Connor and Valery) so we were a bit more experienced. FWIW I really like the look of O'Connor - looks a very classy player in midfield.

Seems Swindon were in for him as well. Interestingly a couple of posters on their forum believe that Jack Stephens is going on loan to a dutch side.

A little more on the deal here, including a possible pre-season trip to the states and a women's team: http://soccer.nbcsports.com/2016/04/14/southampton-sign-long-term-deal-with-american-brand-under-armour/?

Agree with this entirely. This (very long) video discusses why statistics can give a false impression of a player when used in isolation: https://vimeo.com/127160940

Ralph Krueger on BBC Radio 5 Live Sportsweek this morning 01/11/15
vin replied to matthewb's topic in The Saints
Pretty good interview... right up until Krueger started reciting the Southampton mantra. There's a big whiff of the David Brent about Ralph... -
Decent loan signing imo. Did well at Swansea and Cardiff, not so great at QPR. Reminds me a little of Dean Richards - touted as the next big thing from an early age only to struggle to fulfil his potential - before joining us and reviving his career. Hopefully Caulker turns out to be as good as Richards was for us.

Yep, they certainly took a group last year. Got thrashed in the final of their section by Brentford if I remember rightly.
