Brendan Rogers had Southampton and England u21 set-piece specialist James Ward-Prowse watched at yesterday's game at Everton. @murraygroves No wonder he was ****

For some reason the everton fans think that the only reason we gave them a game is cos they had some changes and we had our strongest team out !!!

Gaston had the 2nd most shots on goal behind Luke Shaw, I think he should get a game

Some area's we apparently can improve on, don't think we could disagree too much, creating chances, offsides, one on ones, concede fewer fouls and win more aerial duels. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1902708-southampton-5-areas-the-saints-can-improve-on-in-2014

They seem to of started to do a tactical review so far and we get a nice name check for our muscular pressing http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/dec/27/tactical-review-strike-partnerships Pressing and possession Tiki-taka began to lose its lustre last year as people grew bored of Spain's sterile domination, but this was the year when a genuine alternative emerged. Or, perhaps, to be more accurate, a variant to the strangulation by possession that characterised Spain at the World Cup. The destruction of Barcelona and Real Madrid by Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League semi-finals offered the symbolic moment of change, but the revolution was less one of style than of degree. Both Bayern and Dortmund press, both look to win the ball back high up the pitch, both look for rapid transitions; the difference to the Spanish model is that they do it quicker, with greater muscularity and with a greater willingness to lose the ball with a risky vertical pass. That pressing does not have to be allied to an obsession with safety-first passing is perhaps best exemplified by Southampton. According to stats at WhoScored.com they have made the third most tackles per game of any Premier League club this season – an indication of the ferocity of their pressing – and, even after their recent wobble, have had the second most possession in the division, and yet they have also played the joint most long passes and have only the 10th highest pass success rate. They win the ball back, look to get it forward quickly, and dominate possession not by looking to retain the ball but by reclaiming it efficiently. Looking at Premier League possession statistics, there is an intriguing gulf: Arsenal have had the ninth-most possession this season with 54.7%, while Stoke have had the 10th-most with 47.9%. There will be anomalies and variants in individual games, but that suggests the Premier League is essentially split almost down the middle: nine clubs look to dominate the ball; 11 are prepared to sit back and absorb pressure.

I just think we are muddling through in the middle position behind the striker with Jay Rod on left and Adam on the right, we've tried JWP, SD in there who aren't massively creative which then is putting pressure on Adam and Jay Rod. Either give Gaston some time in there as his through ball to Adam was excellent the other day and by all accounts has been working hard behind the scenes, have Dani in front and then I think we could see a truly creative front 3 behind Dani = more chances. If Gaston is on the way out then Banega or someone similar who has played the press with their current team.

I'm the same as krissboy as I have to say I am very happy to select the best players we have eligible for us as a nation as everyone else is doing it, as long as they are qualified I would select Morgan straight away. If you look at our outdated philosophy ages ago about our manager must be english, that eventually changed so I cannot see why we do not pick the best players available as our competitors are doing it and our cricket team does it so why not football ? is it an ego thing ? Obviously our footballers have self interest at heart but we either be **** for ages while everyone else advances and realise that the world is a multi-cultural society and if someone is willing to be our citizen it should make them eligible for our teams. Diego Costa for Spain, Cacau for Germany, Portugal had Deco just some quick examples, imagine if we had costa instead of welbeck !!!!
