It's an open ending. But it's not. Looking through Twitter people are really ****ed off with this ending. Can't really understand why.

I'm so, so bored of threads like these. If we'd have won last night, even just barely scraping through, this thread wouldn't exist. Gaston Ramirez is not good enough, that's why he's at Hull. He wanted to leave. He has left. Does anything more need to be said?

Well, I do hit one, move on to the others, but I'm not putting an awful lot of effort into it. I've certainly no desire to play it again.

Sheff Utd 1-0 Saints Post match carnage.

On FF's point regarding us maybe benefitting from 'beginner's luck' this season... Just a thought, but is quality in the league a bit poor this season, bar perhaps Chelsea and City? Arsenal would be lost without Sanchez, Liverpool ARE lost without Suarez, there's nothing particularly remarkable about any side outside of the top two this season. Might explain why ourselves and West Ham have done as well as we have thus far. -
Giving this one a hell of a bump, it's only 2+ years old... Bought this for a few quid as it was on sale. My God it was dull. If mashing buttons is your idea of fun then it's definitely for you.

So, whoever texted in Solent to say that the team are 'a disgrace to the city' - have you had chance to calm down yet? -

Disappointing, but my God we have some melvins sending in their thoughts on Solent... -
It was a shocker of a reserve league though, unless playing Wycombe's second string is a good test of ability. He did well at Bournemouth I seem to recall, but that was League One/Two.
-
You've heard? He never talks about it, I'm surprised anyone knows.
-
Not a bad shout at all. Wonder if Whelan will come good on his promise to leave though. Have you heard he broke his leg in an FA Cup final?
-
Waddock isn't very popular in football, to my knowledge. New Oxford owners had no hesitation and ditching him for ex-Skate Appleton, plus Wycombe got shot of him very quickly after they were relegated to League Two - he having got them into League One in the first place...

I recently went to Reading for a job interview, after the takeover was completed. There were a lot of people at the club not knowing what was going to happen to them whilst the takeover was stalling, a lot of players were forced to wait to sign new deals as they didn't want to give them out whilst it was in the balance. Can't have been easy for Nigel but results weren't good either. I think a reality of his success with us was that we had by far the biggest wage budget in League One and threw a lot of resources at Championship promotion, he's unlikely to get that somewhere else. His job at S****horpe though was fantastic.
-
Yet he went to Forest for a million? Sounds as if everyone thought he was ready to me. That was the other name I had in mind, but I was fortunate enough not to see him live. I think the worst miss in a football match I've ever seen was by Bradley Sh*te-Phillips, the thieving little git. Coventry away, 2007/08 I think, 1 - 1 draw. Yep and when Leicester tried to buy him over the summer, Ipswich quoted £8m. Unbelievable.
-
This. Unfortunately I can't see him back in the Premier League ever again, but he will do a very good job for a Championship club.
-
Indeed. I still have nightmares about David McGoaldrought. Still, I maintain, the worst striker I've ever seen play for us.

Derby fans are getting more and more annoyed by Leon Best. He's reported to be on £35k a week, wages Derby are paying in full during his loan spell, scoring absolute zip in 13 appearances. But anyway, I thought this thread was mainly about Lallana, Lovren, Chambers, etc.
-
Considering that I saw this thread mentioned Forren at one point, I don't think it's fair to say we're just having a go at Lovren all the time...
-
Nope, I didn't say that. I don't get where this 'he wasn't that good at Lyon' stuff comes from. If I recall, we apparently got an absolute bargain in £8m and were punching well above our weight to sign him because teams like Spurs were interested. My memory of this isn't that fuzzy. I agree he had a lot better cover in Wanyama, Cork, Schneiderlin etc. That appears to be Liverpool's problem, they're unbalanced. They play an attacking system with attacking players ahead of a shaky defence. Reality is though that even before Lovren signed for them they weren't brilliant at defending, they just had strikers that would consistently bang in the goals so it wasn't a problem. Sturridge is crocked, Suarez is gone. They're totally exposed.
-
I can see Lovren turning it around. We know how good he was for us. Then add into the mix that you're not going to stop giving him chances to prove himself when you've spent £20m on him. He'll keep playing and eventually he'll have a run of good games.
-
Have they heard of de ja vu in Portsmouth? Bring someone in, they do okay for a bit. After a while it unravels. They then get sacked. Whittingham, Barker, Awford. It'll more than likely happen to Waddock next. They're going to spend so much money paying off people that only spend a matter of months in the job that they'll be in more trouble, if they aren't already.

"Fish slides in on O'Sullivan as Accrington break quickly and the referee points to the spot #pompey" They've become a parody of themselves...

Portsmouth 0 - 1 Accrington Stanley

He also got fellow Hampshire side Aldershot promoted out of the Conference. Vital experience that'll come in handy next year I'm sure!

‘You’ve got supporters listening to supporters on football decisions.' Echoes of 'We've got our club back!' back in 2006. I said at the time it was the worst thing that could have happened to us...
