Exactly what I wanted to say. Not only are we not in the Champions League, we haven't qualified, and the season isn't over. In the words of Yogi Berra, it ain't over 'till it's over.

And we wonder why MLG likes it so much.

They are very proud of their history - yet they fail to learn from even earlier history. Take Icarus. He was given wings but told not to fly too high or too low. Too high towards the sun and the wax holding his wings together might melt, causing them to fall apart. Too low and he risked falling into the sea and not being able to get out of it. He did fly too high (the Gaydamak years) and it did fall apart (administration), he then got caught up in the sea unable to get out of it (Championship, administration, League One, League Two). Maintaining something in-between would have been okay (the Mandaric years). Icarus' greatest supporter, his father, lived in hope that he'd be able to get him back from the underworld, but alas it was not to be (you can figure that bit out for yourself).

I think you're both way off with those pictures - they both look like they're worth something.

My most vivid memory of Guly is when we played Hull at home, 2 - 1 win, Championship promotion season. First half we fed the ball to him, he was being marked tightly. He just let his marker push him out of the way each time. He didn't look interested at all, shrugging his shoulders, slapping his hands to his side when it didn't go his way, not even running to get the ball back. We go 1 - 0 down with a couple of minutes before half-time. Some might say a disgraceful attitude. Second half, he has a shot saved, pounces for the rebound, scores within three minutes. Sets up the second goal seven minutes later. A player that drove people mad and made them laugh, scored some important goals. Interesting spell with us.

Just been reading a fanzine of AFC Wimbledon's, post-Liverpool: "Southampton must still be ****ing themselves over selling Lambert to them" Interesting angle. I don't think many predicted it would go as badly as it has for him. I do recall however a Liverpool season ticket holder who lives in Preston telling me he went to the Preston v Liverpool friendly in pre-season, said he stuck out like a sore thumb as early as that.
