Alternatively, nothing sums up the way this country is going more than people taking someone’s death (a someone who has done nothing but serve this country for about 80 years - and I say that as a republican) as a “what’s in it for me” moment.

Rate Saints business in the Summer 2022 Transfer Window
Chewy replied to Barsiem's topic in The Saints
Put this in the transfer window thread so re-posting here. -
I’m really torn on assessing the window; for every part of the pitch and squad except one we’ve done excellent work. Most of the (expensive) deadwood is gone, and more will be at the end of the season; we’ve added exciting youth everywhere; we’ve strengthened the leaky defence; we’ve added pace; we’ve added height and strength; we’ve kept all of our exciting talent except for Dibling … who’s now back. So much to be happy with. But two points off for me for not addressing the glaring issue everyone identified. I fully appreciate the club tried but ultimately we’ve missed big time. I’m delighted Adams is currently on form - I really like him and want him to do well - but he’s hardly prolific. Since Broja stopped scoring mid season we’ve been woeful in front of goal, and since then until a week ago our form has been nailed-on relegation form. Literally dreadful. The defence is better, we should create more and own games more so we can’t compare exactly, but not getting a striker is a very significant and reasonable concern to have. The relative lack of games until January helps this season so hopefully we’re not exposed for too long, but it’s a gig enough issue for me to mark an otherwise exceptional window as 8/10.

Firstly, many thanks as always to Over Land and Sea for the excellent work yesterday on keeping track of all this. Always appreciated by me. Looking at the longest contracted players (26 & 27) shows what excellent work the club has done recently, and also how exciting the future looks. A couple of years ago we were strangled by having players we didn’t want on long, expensive deals. Now (apart Liz which still confuses me) we’ve got exciting talent. Ok, so not all of them will work out, but equally their wages won’t be excessive. There’s 12 players on deals ending 26/27 and you can make the following team (excluding Liz) Bazunu Livramento ABK DCC Larios Aribo JWP Lavia Edozie Mara Morgan Realistically both Mara and Morgan are not out and out strikers which helps demonstrate the gaping hole in our squad, and of course Morgan (though very highly rated) is yet to kick a ball for us. But that leaves us 10 of the 11 spots filled until 2026 with real talent and potential. Add in the prospects of Pearce, Payne, Edwards, Ballard, Doyle and now the returning Dibling and I think there’s real cause for optimism. Great work by the club. If only we could have nailed that number 9 we need …

Yes DT, yada yada. Really tedious hearing the same sh1t on repeat …

Assuming we get the striker we’re after, anyone calling this summer’s window a huge disappointment is utterly deluded and a perfect example of the modern spoilt brat supporter.
-
What??? I mean, he’s not Messi, but what are you talking about??
-
Nope, not quite. We would have a new record but MLT created that new thread and ruined it for all of us.
-
If there’s one line that will make MLT come out of his hiding today it’s that one - “Hardest plate ever”. So much wrong with that sentence 🤣🤣
-
Very sad, one of the best from my earliest saints team. RIP
-
Was that about the same time they sealed the Aubameyang deal? Broja wants to play some football, I still think he’ll leave Chelsea this window. Whether that’s to us or not is a different discussion altogether though
-
Thanks for the recommendation. just want to check a couple of things - is it a good watch, and is it Saints related?
-
You do realise you can only sell players that other clubs make an offer for, don’t you?
-
The dugouts, obviously 🙄

He’s been gone too long

City Liverpool Chelsea Spurs United Arsenal West Ham F*** knows x 7 Forest Everton Leeds Brentford Bompey Fulham Pochettino to replace Brendan Rodgers Vieira to replace Arteta Liverpool to win nothing City to win treble but fail in Europe again United no better I think we’ll be fine, a more exciting team with some good days and some really infuriating days. Think Ralph will see out the season and will be resigned. England will have a bad World Cup. Truss will be PM MLT will still be annoying everyone Turkish will bump the Rainbow Shirt thread every six weeks to try and snag a bite And despite getting all of the above right, I will still fail miserably at predicting the lottery numbers.
-
I’d start my shopping at Chelsea: Colwill Vale Broja Counting Mara that leaves one more, and I’d be looking at loaning a full-back.
-
Thanks for the info. Personally still hoping we make the Broja deal work - a front pair of him and Mara would be an exciting prospect!
-
Sorry to be pedantic, but this isn’t newsworthy; He manages to look stupid at least once a day.
-
How did that go?
-
Fair point. Although £5m for my toe nail clippings would be better value than £20m for Carrillo.

I’m still waiting for answers about a) the definition of summer and b) the difference between 1 or 2. Of course if you answered them you’d have had to admit you were wrong. F me you’re boring. But carry on, the vast majority of us think you’re a t1t anyway. Looking forward to some more of your hilarious gifs in response …

Who listens to Paul Merson? Or reads the Star???
