  1. Agreed. He’s great at defending in the box, pretty exposed playing in a high-line, high-pressing team. Unfortunately for us that’s how we’re set up to play. I like him, he’s just not right for these tactics
  2. Sam McQueen might be a u23 left back option I guess?
  3. My one deleted post wasn’t rude, offensive or off topic. No warning, straight red and I literally didn’t touch him. it’s like Stalin had the whistle in my game.
  4. Name was Savin I think.

    Danny Ings

I think other clubs interest won’t become known until the merry go round is nearly finished late in the window. Kane, Haaland, possibly Messi, Lukaku, Isak etc … once we know where they’re all playing we’ll know who needs a striker (maybe desperately) and who has money left.
  6. Neither young nor hungry. And no resale value due to his age.
  7. Meteorologically, summer extends to the end of August, thus including all of pre-season and the start of the league and league cup campaigns. Please could you explain what you mean by summer, so I can fully understand the point you’re trying to make?
  8. Saintsweb at its best. We have a transfer thread for transfer rumors which is mostly people arguing about shit entirely unrelated to transfers. We get a rumour so start an extra thread because ... it’s a real rumour? And the thread descends into people arguing about unrelated shit. Again. And no prizes for guessing who’s in the middle of the pointless arguments once again.
  9. Maybe we could do a player plus cash deal. We need a left back and they’ve got a decent one

    Danny Ings

The equations not quite as simple as I’m going to make it because one man doesn’t determine a clubs season alone, but if Ings’ goals next season keep us up, it’s worth far more money than we’ll get for him in a transfer fee this summer. Factor in wages but also fee and wages of a replacement who is unlikely to be anywhere near the same level ... I think the financial argument says keep him. He may have other ideas of course.
  11. ReasonS then. Reasons, not reason. Hate inaccuracy.
  12. Yeah, his wages.
  13. Can we clone Armstrong? Need him centre mid and number 10
  14. Back 6 all pretty good, front 4 less so bar Tella.
  15. The refs have already sussed he’s one of the most prolific ‘exaggerators’ of injury in the league. It’s probably why there wasn’t a card to be honest. It was a card, he wasn’t hurt. Anyway, very bright start, Tella looking lively and confident, Armstrong playing well. Theo hasn’t suddenly grown a football brain.
  16. Please guys, this is one of the best threads on this site for useful, factual information, brilliantly kept up to date by the thread owner. There’s plenty of other threads to ruin with petty squabbles - please leave this one alone. It’s not a fair reflection on all the work put into this one.
  17. Very grateful for his service. Unfortunately won’t have time to make a cup of tea every time we have a throw in on the left now, but otherwise think it’s a good move for all concerned.
  18. Is he? Curious as to how you come to that conclusion? Wondering what metrics are at play, and what statistical analysis you’ve completed before expressing that view as fact?
  19. I’m liking this idea. in all seriousness an to agree with some of the points already made, Moss is far more culpable. A split second decision that’s wrong is not ideal but it happens. To not review with time to consider is simply ineptitude. And to have this volume of errors with the benefit of VAR is inexcusable. The rescinding confirms they are making bad decisions so there should be consequences. That there are none smacks of the level of arrogance that blinds them into confirming the bad decisions in the games in the first place. They need to root out this arrogance and quickly because it’s ruining the game
  20. Very sad news, thoughts with the family

    Sam McQueen

Wish him the very best of luck. Believe he was academy lad of the year once, given for attitude more than football, so hope he’s able to put this in perspective and find an enjoyable alternative path.

    European League

Context being that tv fans are bored of the product. The irony being that boredom stems from the lack of competition. The only big league with financial and popular success is the premier league precisely because it’s a competition (less so than years ago but still is). All the rest are now won all the time by the same one or two sides every year. It is boring ... and was a situation created by exactly the sort of greed and worship of money that is creating this ESL. This won’t save football, it will accelerate its decline. While it’ll be amusing to see Spurs, Arsenal etc as perennial also rans at the bottom of the ESL, it’ll be dull as dishwater seeing Man City, Madrid and Barca sharing round the trophy every year. The interest in sport comes from not knowing, this removes it. Worst product concept you could imagine ... if product is what you’re after. And depressing for all football fans who all grew up as kids dreaming of sporting glory, knowing that the last pretense of football being a sport has gone

And it could also be said that people tune into watch football, not the 12 clubs who happen to be at the pinnacle. 20 years ago it would have been Depotivo la Coruna, not Athlletico, Newcastle and Leeds, not Man City and Spurs. The arrogance of some of those 12 suggesting they earn Uefa their money is breathtaking. They don’t, football does.
  24. Liverpool I believe. around at the era I first started watching, great player and character. RIP
