I left BP in '83. No doubt we know each other.

I remember that well. On old concrete pill box. There was one down as Hum Hole IIRC before they put the bypass in. If you're from that part of the world and reading your other posts, about the same age as me, I'm betting we know each other.

Just finished Tom Clancy's latest effort, Dead or Alive which felt like no more than a 700page preamble to set up another series of books. I'm now 1/2 way through The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Thought I'd give it a go to see what the fuss was about and I must say it's rather good!

As an ex-Bitterne Boy (Wavell Rd & Rowborough Rd) I really appreciate you posting that.

The thought police do all appear to be white, middle aged, Guardian reading Liberal voters and it has gotten totally and utterly out of hand. Thankfully, the organisations I work for, and with, have a made the majority of the E&D people redundant with much celebration by the rest of us. The powers to be realised that most of us are sensible adults who don't need telling how to speech and what labels to give people. They also, a couple of years ago stopped producing everything in a multitude of languages understanding that nothing brings communities closer together like a common tongue. It also helps reduce poverty and barriers to employment and education. Plenty of the hysterical Doris's went about shouting "race" but none of the Hindu, Sikh or Muslim groups raised an objection and instead very vociferous in their support for the idea and only asked that extra ESOL courses were put on to help.

Oh yes. That's the exact reasons we put in down. It's been a godsend.

Cameron - "Multiculturalism has failed"

You do know, of course, that Sharia courts have existed in England for at least 200 years and that those courts deal with issues of property and marriage and even then do not supersede UK or EU law? I work in the heart of the Black Country and many of the Muslim divorces (often women who married someone from "back home" and then realise that they have nowt in common) are settled in such courts before going to the "legal" courts to be rubber stamped? I often have a chat with one of the clerics who arbitrates on cases. Nice guy. Very bright with the thickest yam yam accent on the planet! Apart from some absolute extremist nutters who dream about black flags over Buck' House, and those brain dead folk who read about it and actually believe it could happen, Muslims except how the system works. There are, of course, Jewish courts in the UK that work in the same way. If for one minute they changed the UK law to say that Sharia superseded UK sovereign law I'd be on the barricades myself. -

This. The drama queens won't understand though. -
IIRC Mervo suggested some pages ago that February could prove to be the end of PFC. Let's hope so.

I must have walked past it a thousand times over the years. God I miss living in Soton.

The Moderate EDL under attack from the Far Right

It has nothing to do with religion. It is merely a tribal cultural practice super-imposed by some on top of Islam. I teach many Muslim women and not one wears a Burkha or any other sort of veil. The majority, however, do wear a headscarf, usually a very bright one! -

Yeah, right. Have you seen the league table? We grind out an away win and it means we're sh*t and incapable? Jesus, and I thought Alpine with the dumbest poster on here. -
Which is why people like you are scummy, dirty c**ts and people like Mervo are decent. One is happy to rip cancer charities off and feels no shame and the other isn't. Thankfully, my skate mates fall into the latter group. I for one wouldn't ****** on you if you were on fire.

I just stream via my PS3. Very simple set up and operation.

It's far, far, far from over. We'll know their true direction of travel and the true intent of the owners by the end of the transfer window on Monday. They're already playing 5 loanees so that's that avenue shut and can't afford to play two of their better players and most of their squad shortly out of contract. In short, they're really in the sh*t.

Chuffed to bits with the effort and aptitude. We will go up, of that I'm sure. -
Not going and not that bothered about watching it either. An unwanted distraction and too much money for a game on the box. My nipper would like a draw so he could go to OT for the replay.

University Graduates and Unemployment

As a teacher, albeit currently in FE, that's the approach that many, many, many of us would endorse and it's the same model employed in Germany and one that I've been harking on about for years. It's also why Grove's new "vision" for education is so derided by the profession. -
And as I said at the time, I agree with the general trust of that. Clarke adopted a One Nation Tory approach and the majority of the centre left can deal with that, myself included. It's the public school, Oxbridge idiots who are driven solely by dogma, from any party, that I despise. The current government has far to many of them. The current resident of Number 11 looks so out of his depth it's scary.

Another 'help me' thread. This time about domestic Gas Boilers
View From The Top replied to Colinjb's topic in The Lounge
I had a new combi fitted in October (no choice, otherone was dead) and TBF it's made a big difference. House is warmer and therm useage is down. With some serious haggling I got it for a "fair" price but it was still eye wateringly expensive but will pay for itself over 5 years if my calculations are correct. Nothern Gas did mine. -
I didn't think they could get any worse !
