  1. If you mean Joe then yes, I saw it but from a block away. I'm guessing the old girl that Tom was talking to who was sat behind them would be the best witness.
  2. Or that history teachers have history degrees and have been trained to allow young folk to think for themselves and draw conclusions from the evidence they find. Never met a history teacher with anything less than a 2:1 in history so I guess they're slightly more qualified than Stanley. Come to think of it, our history dept has nothing less than a MA in it as well as a PhD, all, oddly enough, in history. Best qualified dept in the whole organisation I believe. Teaching dates and facts is all well and good and there is a place for it, as almost all agree I think, but the who/where/when & why are all important (especially with a F/S curriculum leaders hat on) not just the who/where/when.
  3. Does Stanley understand that a good History degree is well regarded by employers as gradutes have had to develop good analytical skills and the weighing up of evidence? At uni those skills gained at A level are honed but at A level this skills will already need to be in place and that is what is taught in schools. The ability to "think" has been given such prominence hence the introduction of Functional Skills into the NC and all 14-19 tier learning, with cross party, cross Union and cross business support. For those who don't know about F/S I suggest you read up on them and you'll see how the government/business/FE are at odds with Stanleys simplistic and ill informed position.
  4. I agree, a nailed on penalty, however, he did make sure the ref "saw it" and that over egging of the pudding did for him IMHO. On another note, I too though Lambert played well. He won almost everything in the air but the rest of the of the team seem incapable of reading his clicks or joining in up top.
  5. My lad and I have just got back from a game in which we gave the opposition two goals through pathetic defending. The 1st half was a dire a display as I have ever witnessed from any Saints side and the display from the two fullbacks were below Sunday league level. Harding was woeful and Richardson was even worse. I thought Richardson was s**t last week but he took his level of incompetence down a notch or two. We bypassed midfield playing hoofball and when we did have chances Warner made three very good saves. All in all we were totally and utterly s**t, s**t, s**t against an even worse Tranmere side.
  6. I genuinely don't know who the biggest pr1ck is and considering you're up against Dune and Alpine for that award that's saying something.
  7. I decided to adopt the tory supporters approach to tax this year and an accountant friend of mine ensured a very, very, very small return to HMRC. I'm sure all the tories will support this act of pure capitalism.
  8. Don't let the door hit your @rse on the way out.
  9. If anyone needs a couple of customer numbers then drop me an email on terraceclassics@gmail.com
  10. You assume that when I say left / centre left / centre I refer solely to the HoC. The left, outside of the party politics of Westminster was four square against it, however, I accept your point regarding Labour MPs. Many lefties, myself included, didn't vote for Blair in the subsequent General Election but shifted our votes to the Greens and Liberals. I think we both know that it was the large swathe of Middle England voters that Blair wooed and, TBF, he did do it well. I'm ex-HM Forces so I've always been fully supportive of those involved in the front line and every time another one dies I blame Blair and his lies. I have a personal reason to hate Blair and his government for Iraq http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/http://www.operations.mod.uk/telic/clarke.htm He was the son of a very dear friend of mine and they live on the road behind mine. I bought him a pint before he deployed and watched him come back in a box. I've watched his father whither and his mum fight the MoD for the truth behind her sons death, only to be stonewalled at every turn. I watch them place a wreath on our local cenotaph every Rememberance Sunday. Them wanting to feel proud but only feeling deep, deep grief at losing their eldest boy, for a lie. Blair and his government has blood on their hands. So when you say the Left supported the war in Iraq in an attempt to get a rise, think of David Clark, aged 19 of Bedford Ave in Stafford and remember that many of us did stand four square against it and see the cost of our failure in the unending grief of others.
  11. This. Although for some reason the hard of thinking Right don't seem to understand. Blair and his ilk took us to war and the left / center were set four square against it. They also seem to forget that the Labour government had to rely to Tory votes in the HoC to go to war as many Labour backbenchers voted against it.
  12. None of my season tickets aren't being used if folk need customer numbers.
  13. Even you don't believe that surely? Many of us have partners/friends who lost their jobs and are you suggesting we didn't care? Never had you down as being so pathetically dogmatic. A pity, thought more of you.
  14. I'm sure everyone is equally delighted at the 1000 front line police officers losing their jobs in the West Midlands force. Or equally delighted that a minimum of one childrens centre per town/city is to be closed. Of course, these are non essential services that no one will miss. Whilst I accept that the terminally thick as f**k don't get it, I thought better of some of the more sensible right wingers. Prehaps I misjudged their sense of understanding. A pity.
  15. I agree. Defensively top notch but his passing/crossing was shocking yesterday.
  16. Poor game but hey ho, we'll win at Tranmere.
  17. The core subjects should remain just that. However, as on the continent, young people should also have the option of studying non academic topics alongside them from 14/15 upwards. Why force non academic kids to study History & French, which they will simply turn off from. You cannot make a 15/16 year old learn when they really don't give a fat rat's arse. More focus on the core subjects up to 16 would mean that folk like myself wouldn't have to teach the current crop of school leavers the basics of maths and English when they get onto FE! The NC does need an overhaul but decent vocational courses should be valued as they really do help a large percentage of young people.
  18. He's known as Thrush for a reason.
  19. Would you want their history or our future?
  20. I think you're confusing the Labour Party with the Labour Movement.
  21. I will be able to get 1 or 2 spare tickets on season tickets for folk if need be as couple of my lot are overseas on the 29th.
  22. That's a rather dumb argument if I may say so. You are assuming that socialist ideals are based solely on wealth, which is the mistake most often made. My socialist principles are aligned to providing equality of opportunity for all to succeed regardless of their wealth. I live a comfortable middle class life but I choose to work in one of the most deprived areas on England helping others improve their life chances and those of their children so they have to opportunity for such a life themselves. My wife chooses to work in a tough secondary school for the same reasons. We feel duty bound to give back to society, that is being a socialist. The wealthiest bloke I know, who posts on here, works for a bank, lives in a big house in the country, owns property overseas and is socialist to the core. Now I appreciate that some hard of thinking don't get that but you've always struck me as a level headed sort of chap so I hope you can appreciate where I'm coming from with this.
  23. That cup game is irrelevant. It's the game at FP that hurt.
  24. I would like to see them fold, totally and utterly. To die, to cease to exist. I'm still confident that it'll happen.
  25. Arsenal (A). Never been to The Emirates.
