Do you really look into the political affiliations of every producer of media that you've ever consumed? Is it not possible to separate art from the artist? There's tons of pieces of art, music, fiction etc that I love and I'm sure I'd disagree wholeheartedly on a number of things with the people who made them. Just weird that you would exclude yourself from experiencing something amazing because you disagree with someone politically.

Cummings was f*cked whatever he said and so given the circumstances I thought that didn't go too badly for him. Having said that I do think he's going to have to end up going, it's clear that it's not going to be left alone until he leaves.

As a rule I don't cast my eye over twitter as its a distortion of reality. The point still stands that you're an utter imbecile if you base your actions during the pandemic on one man. We know what the science says and what we should do. Why would you risk contracting and spreading the virus because you're annoyed about someone else doing it? How retarded is that? I haven't observed lockdown rules and not seen family members because of what the government may or may not do, I've done it because I want to keep my family as safe as I can and because I wouldn't want to pass it on to someone else if I happen to contract it.

I am pretty undecided about this. I do think optically it looks terrible and it does undermine the government position so maybe he should go for that alone. On the other hand, I do think that motivation is important here. If I lived in Manchester and the only other people I trusted to look after my young child lived down south, my wife became ill with the virus and I suspected I would soon be next then I'd absolutely drive down south. That's if the official version is actually what happened of course. I will be interested to see how this plays to the vast majority of the public who are non political. I've spoken to a load of people about the issue today and I was surprised by the number who either didn't know anything about it or didn't really know who Dominic Cummings was before this weekend. Ultimately if he does end up going it will be because of the opinion of the public- the actual public not the permenently outraged on twitter- rather than some headlines in the guardian and mirror. I think on balance he probably did break the rules and so should probably be sacked.
