Lighthouse- this website needs to do more to tackle pompous priggish posters like verbal above. Many good posters like Turkish have already reduced the amount they post and I've been told it's a direct result of posters like verbal and the hostile posting environment they have fostered. All that posters want is to be able to discuss issues with a range of opinions without being called a nazi or a racist for doing so. Additionally verbal promised his partner that he would stop posting on here but he continues to hang around. It may be worth thinking of her next time you're doing your moderating.

It is less of an issue in this day and age. The Oscars is entirely irrelevant to a discussion about racist abuse in English football and the mythical wage gap has been debunked so many times now that you're just making yourself look foolish (again). Here is one such debunking from a female: http://time.com/3222543/wage-pay-gap-myth-feminism/ Regarding your racism in football point, I absolutely do not think that clubs should be held personally responsible for isolated racist idiots within a crowd. All clubs in the UK as far as I am aware will most likely hand out life bans for anyone they discover chanting racist abuse at players which is an adequate response. If we had thousands of fans chanting racist abuse on a regular basis then we can talk about points deductions but as has already been pointed out to you, it's mostly the odd couple of people who decide to shout racist things at a player. To pretend otherwise is to create a false narrative which I know you like to do for some bizarre reason but as usual it's incorrect.
-
In what sense was he comparing them? If he meant that some fans will look for something that they perceive to be a sensitive issue of a "weakness" and then chant about it then he's right. Obviously they aren't the same thing though.
-
Edit: I didn't see what thread this was before I replied sensibly...

Bit odd to pretend we have changed very little since the 80s. Racism is an issue in society in the same way loads of unacceptable abuse is and sadly you aren't ever going to eliminate it completely, but it's massively improved since the 80s. And what on earth do the Oscars have to do with that? Just a bizarre stream of consciousness there.

Where has anyone said its acceptable to make monkey noises at a player? You're arguing with yourself.
-
You heard actual racist abuse towards our black players? I hope you reported them?
-
I wouldn't worry. Nowadays certain people will scream racist at anyone which has the unfortunate side effect of lessening the impact for real racists. In many ways, people like verbal are making things easier for actual racists abd for that he should be ashamed.
-
Sure mate. You definitely shouldn't be questioning incidents of racism if they are reported by a person of colour. Jussie Smollett felt he was a victim of bigotry who are we as white people to question his story???
-
Being labelled a racist by a loon like verbal is a badge of honour. Go on verbal, tell me again about the wonderful world of whitesplaining. Might as well venture into mansplaining and manspreading while you're at it.

The Chelsea fan incident inspired a brilliant bit of satire from the hammers:
-
Is your name jussie smollett?
-
Whitesplaining??? You giant fanny.

Saints 1 Liverpool 3 - Match Thread and Reaction
hypochondriac replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Although we will probably still lose, its brilliant to see us competing and doing so well. -
It really doesn't matter as it was clearly a flippant point by rose that I don't really care about but I was just explaining why some people would be a bit miffed by the comment.
-
I think a lot of the time it's thick people who know that making a monkey noise is an easy way to provoke a reaction and get under someone's skin.
-
Does the modern English game have a large problem with racism? More than in the general population? I know there's a bit of a moral panic about it at the moment and the media is blowing up every single incident but I don't see a huge amount of it in our league. Seems as you say that it's more of an issue abroad.
-
Probably because they get fined tens of thousands of pounds and a comment like that makes him seem pretty out of touch and a bit spoilt.
-
Ha what a load of cack.
-
We should just sign Mitrovic, a midfielder and a cb and we are sorted.
-
It's not a crime but it is pretty hypocritical to bang on about diversity at a march populated predominantly by the same types of people.
-
Who do you keep mentioning Tommy Robinson soggy? You seem a bit obsessed with him. A bit like a few years ago when you kept mentioning Katie Hopkins. All a bit strange.
-
Lots of faux outrage from the usual suspects but deep down you know its true what the majority of the demographics were. . "This march wasn’t polite. At best, it was passive aggressive – a procession of the irked middle classes, who for decades have become accustomed to getting their way without having to bother to explain why they are obviously, always, right. But fury with the Leave-voting ‘mob’ was never far from the surface. ‘Ooh Look! grammatically correct, properly spelt placards!’, read one placard, sporting some questionable capitalisation. ‘In March 1933, 17.3 million Germans Voted for Hitler’, read another."

Jwp really isn't that good. He's got a lot of potential and he's in a good vein of form but he's nowhere near a top 6 player.

You're the smiley bloke on the left with the beard aren't you soggy.
