Erm, kelvin Davis, puncheon, Schneiderlin, AOC, Lambert, sharp, Fonte. The fact is we had a number of players more than capable of playing in the prem and some actually really good players. Our team in terms of future internationals and multi million pound players was pretty incredible in the championship abd I love nigel but let's not pretend we didn't have sone remarkable players for the lower leagues.

Pellegrino: Under Pressure Footballers are taking Sleeping Pills
hypochondriac replied to yellow&blue's topic in The Saints
I can't imagine that 30,000 people screaming at you every week is anything less that stressful. We can moan about a lot of things with regards our players but suggesting they are human and prone to feeling pressure like anyone else should not be one of of the things to moan about. -

I don't think there's much of a sense that they care. Certainly spurs away first half and the second half last week was like a training game with no sense of passion at all. -

That's a bit unfair. I can imagine football has a unique type of pressure and at least having sleepless nights shows they care. Would be nice if some of that translated onto the pitch mind you. -
Or a bobsled team crashing and ending up in hospital abd the coach saying its better for the sport because everyone loves a drama.

In that case then why does a manager matter at all? Why was Alex Ferguson consistently brilliant for years if he didn't matter? Why did poch get us playing such great entertaining football? You're talking b*llocks.
-
Surely getting the players to perform better should be the priority? And that's the job of the manager. No reason at all that someone can't come in to motivate the players better and see a fairly swift upturn in performances.

Not if I thought that voting in a poll on a web forum made no actual difference. I realise we are now arguing over semantics, I'm happy to accept that your definition of desperate differs from mine, every fan I have spoken to and encountered in real life are absolutely amazed that he hasn't been sacked. As I said the other day, I can't think of a less successful manager in the premier league that has survived this long.
-
Zero difference really.
-
You already know I'm going to tell you that not bothering to vote in a meaningless poll gives zero insight into their feelings about the manager...
-
I don't know what you could possibly mean
-
If you knew for certain that a loss to West brom would get him sacked, would you be OK with us losing the game?
-
Nah. Always going to be a tiny minority who like going against the grain, worry about any sort of change, are closet skates, just like being sad, old, supercilious and feeling superior (delete as appropriate.) The vast vast vast majority of fans are desperate for him to leave now which should tell you something.

This will be fun...get those applications in..

I expect they'll try to weed out mark from 'ampshire who wants to whinge about the meat content in the pasties. -
If nothing else, this outs to bed the lie that it was the fans who got puel the sack. The vast majority of fans have been screaming for pellegrino's head for weeks now and have been totally ignored.

I'm not sure why Saturday would be the decisive game. He isn't going anywhere

What's impractical about it? Squash courts are a big improvement even if their online booking system is terrible.
-
Either the club's judgement is horrifically flawed or they are listening too much to the players. Probably both.
-
Oh dear think we've found a club pr plant. Out of interest, is there any circumstance where you wouldn't back the club and the decisions they make?
-
Does anyone know why he was there by the way? Nearly fell off my chair when I saw him.

Good shout with Phil brown. Reading Wikipedia it looks like he was eventually sacked the season they got relegated - but not until March and after a run of 1 win in 15 (sound familiar?). Holloway doesn't appear to have had as bad a run as that and I think he at least managed to take Blackpool to the last day. They also played some good football from memory with what was a very limited squad. As you say, both managers had success before their poor runs so you could argue that they deserved longer in their jobs due to that. I certainly can't think of anyone else who has had such a poor run in the Premier league without the mitigating factor or previous success with that team to explain why they are being kept on.

They are well dodgy.
