  1. If I were you soggy (thankfully I'm not), I would start a new thread talking about the ills of Maidstone and how it's like the wild west. I'm sure that many would be quick to condemn the behaviour of the cowboys and cowgirls on a Friday night. Until that time, it's not that unsurprising that a thread largely discussing Islamic terrorism has an awful lot of content on it about erm Islamic extremism. If every discussion about it on this thread has to be prefaced with "of course we all know that atrocities are also committed in Maidstone every week" in order to satisfy you then this thread is going to get even longer than it already is. I can't speak for others but for my part, take it as read that I am equally appalled by drunken gun slinging in Maidstone as I am about stabbings and murders by Islamic extremists. I'm mostly going to be talking about the terrorism on this thread though because that's what this thread is about.
  2. And pay NHS staff "what they deserve" and pay everyone £10 an hour and give every child in the country free school meals. It's fantasy politics.
  3. "mohammed had sex with a child." "Christians did it too." So? If King Richard had sex with a 6 year old then he is equally sick and depraved, it doesn't lessen the original crime.
  4. No I didn't, I made no attempt to do what you claim, rather I was seeking to show how regressive the qaran is which really isn't hard to do. The Bible's failings have nothing to do with the Islamic holy book or the fact that we have such a large problem with Islamic terrorism and that women, gays and minorities are treated so horribly in the vast vast majority of Islamic societies.
  5. Good for you mlg. When pointing out insidious text from the qaran and suggesting there may be a link to that and the various intolerant attitudes we see today across Islamic populations, pointing at Christianity and effectively saying "they are bad too" isn't a valid rebuttal. Start a thread on the evils of Christianity if you like, I'm sure there will be no shortage of contributors but calling some Christian teaching deranged or suggesting that extremist Christian have committed atrocities doesn't excuse Islam.
  6. What relevance do Bible quotes have to Islamic extemism? Start a new thread on what's wrong with the bible and Christian extemists who commit terrorist attacks and I'll be on there to agree with you.
  7. Interesting in what way? None of the polls suggest that this will mean that Labour will get more votes. The Tories will remain in power and essentially that changes very little.
  8. Yeah I probably agree with you there. I think everyone accepts that Corbyn is a nice bloke, it's just a pity that an effective opposition is probably most needed now yet we don't have one.
  9. Commitment to policy is supposed to happen with the manifestos. I wouldn't expect any party leaders to commit to too muchyet until they launch the manifestos. Even then as we know they don't always stick to them.
  10. I didn't get it from facebook. You've certainly convinced me though, he was truly a champion of women's rights: "Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great." Got anymore illuminating links about the worlds most progressive religion? Anything on racial descrimination? "O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk." There are many other verses championing the Muslim faith as a kind and tolerant religion as I'm sure you know.
  11. Yeah seems sensible: The Qur’an allows (or, perhaps, commands) men to beat their wives into subservience. If a wife doesn’t listen to her husband, the husband should admonish her. If that doesn’t work, he is to make her sleep in a separate bed. However, if the wife still doesn’t respect her husband’s authority, even after she has been banished to another bed, the husband is told to physically punish her. Muhammad offered women little hope for the afterlife. Indeed, he clearly states that most of the inhabitants of hell are women who were ungrateful to their husbands (though he never suggests that ungrateful husbands will receive similar punishment. This means that, after being admonished, banished to a separate bed, and beaten by her husband, a willful woman can look forward to an eternity in hell The Qur’an permits Muslims to have sex with their female captives and slaves (i.e. those "whom their right hands possess"). As the Muslim armies raided town after town, they captured many women, who would often be sold or traded. Yet, since the Muslim men were a long way from their wives, they needed wisdom from God to guide them in their treatment of their female captives. It's an old ad by the way but the point still stands.
  12. Meanwhile, a new advertising campaign appears in London...
  13. I'm guessing because this is a thread which has mostly been about terrorism and Islam has contributed a significant percentage of that in the last few years? I can't speak for Sour Mash but I'm sure he would condemn crime in general, however it is undeniable that Islam has contributed an awful lot to the terrorist attacks of the last few years as well as a majority of British Muslims (statistically) holding views that the average Britain would find reprehensible. This is a topic worth discussing in my opinion, yet you seem to believe that you are unable to discuss this without first acknowledging and condemning every atrocity committed by a non Muslim. Why is this?
  14. Weird thing to say as always soggy. Thankfully my wife isn't a practising Muslim and she is as disgusted by these atrocities committed by Islamic extremists (and some Islamic teaching that a significant percentage of Muslims believe) as I am.
  15. Yeah really relevant examples of wars almost a century old that had nothing to do with religion.
  16. It's a weekly thing now. Nothing to do with Islam though...
  17. City looked great in the second half. I didn't catch the first half but I don't think it was really a case of us playing poorly.
  18. I find this a strange attitude when they have death camps the size of california. Would you have only confronted Hitler when he became a threat to us? The world needs to use every methods available to them short of all out war to reduce the harm north Korea is doing. It's barbaric and wrong and on a much larger scale than the likes of IS
  19. They know exactly what hey are doing. Kim is just the figurehead, it's the people behind him that hold the real power.
  20. This article provides a good answer to that. It's probably a bit wordy for soggy but you'd probably find it mildly interesting. http://quillette.com/2017/03/31/ayaan-hirsi-ali-explains-how-to-combat-political-islam2/ This bit in particular: Before delving into Hirsi Ali’s advice, it’s worth establishing the premises framing her argument. Islam, while possessing the supernatural characteristics of its Abrahamic predecessors, propounds an ideology of temporal control and submission. “Islam,” after all, means “submission” – by mankind, to the will of God, here on Earth. The very name of the faith manifests its essence, implying confrontation between a deity who commands and mortals who must obey – or else. Nowhere in Islam’s foundational texts does there reside a declaration equivalent to Jesus’s “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s.” Islam’s foundational texts do not preach separation between mosque and state. Everything belongs to God. Islam’s command to submit pertains not just to Muslims, but to humanity as a whole. (“People of the Book” – i.e, Jews and Christians – are granted some leniency in this life, but the Quran, regarded by Muslims as the perfect, inalterable Word of God, leaves no doubt that hellfire awaits nonbelievers.) Make no mistake about it: a future in which an unreformed Islam prevailed would be grim indeed, inimical to every Enlightenment value and every liberal principle, and thus to our Constitutional order and the protections it affords minority rights (women’s rights, LBGT rights, and so on) of all sorts. That such a future is improbable is irrelevant; the threat comes from those willing to kill to bring it about. They – and not Hirsi Ali – are the ones obliging us to have this conversation. Hirsi Ali is concerned with the menacing political ideology that permeates dawa. As practiced by Islamists, dawa, she says, aims both to convert non-Muslims to Islam and to “instil Islamist views in existing Muslims.” Dawa is the “subversive, indoctrinating precursor to jihad.” It, thus, constitutes a threat, but since it is “an ostensibly religious missionary activity, proponents of dawa enjoy a much greater protection by the law in free societies than Marxists or Fascists did in the past.” Government agencies have been “duped into regarding” Islamist groups “as representatives of moderate Muslims simply because they do not engage in violence.”
  21. Not really. Arsenal have been shocking at times this year and the board won't listen.
  22. Probably but I don't tend to pay attention to contracts. All it means is we will get more cash.
  23. If he split time with chambers then he's not really number one is he.
  24. History shows we don't tend to deny players a move if one of he mega clubs come in. Soares has been linked to all sorts of big clubs and vvd is a near certainty. We could see Bertrand staying one more season but all three going would not surprise me in the slightest. I'm fairly positive about next year though assuming we recruit well. One positive is I can't see us losing any midfield options so midfield will be strong and our forward line assuming gabbi will be fit. Personally I'd get rid of long and Jay rod, bring in one decent striker to compete with Austin and gabbi over the season, get a dm to reduce our reliance on romeu and then replace the defenders we sell. Maybe get rid of Classie and give boufal one more season to prove his worth. Could have a decent team there with no European distractions and less of the silly rotation.
