  1. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is worried about the direction our transfer dealings are taking us. You can't stand still in the prem, you should be looking to improve all the time and better teams than us have seen the wheels fall off in the past. It seems to me that not only have we not stood still, we have gone backwards from last year and we haven't used the transfer income nearly as well this season as we did last. As a consequence we have lost that solid defensive base and that air of calmness that we had the entirety of last season. It's a fairly depressing prospect and not a huge amount to look forward to when we already know that mane, Wanyama and possibly Jay rod will be off next summer and replaced with cheaper alternatives. That's not to say that I blame the players but I don't think our recruitment has been up to scratch this summer. The exciting and quality buys like mane Clyne etc haven't materialised this year and I wonder if a season of underperformance will force us to loosen the purse strings next summer? Inevitably if we do this every summer we will face a year that the gambles don't pay off and we end up battling relegation. I hope it's not this year...
  2. Yet another abject performance this season bereft of entertainment. We seem to have lost our identity.
  3. It's the performances that concern me more than the results.

  5. I think we should buy the best we can and if that means spending more than 5 million then so be it.
  6. I wasn't talking about me I was talking about the British public. Unfortunately the vast majority ARE that shallow which is the whole point. The key voters that Jeremy needs sadly aren't that fussed about things like Saudi Arabia. Their main concerns are about if he looks and sounds good and how his policies will affect them. It may be a shame but it's the truth. It didn't matter what Ed's policies were, what was important was that he looked like a dweeb and people didn't want a geek to represent us on the world stage.
  7. So you really think the average member of the general public will rush to vote for someone who neither looks nor behaves anything like a prime minister? It's really the main reason that ed did so poorly. He was pretty polite and seemed like a nice chap too. Being statesman-like and prime ministerial (like Obama, Blair, Thatcher and unlike Miliband and Brown etc) is a big part of it and he looks and seems too much like a stuffy university lecturer in my opinion for the swathes needed to vote for him. That's before you get into some of his dodgy links to shady characters and unsupported policies like the scrapping of trident. He will undoubtedly need the support of businesses and a portion of the middle class. What possible reason would they have to vote for him?
  8. Thing is though that's just your bias talking. Personally I think Corbyn has some fairly common sense policies. The problem is the more radical policies that won't wash with majority of the public and the fact that he doesn't look, sound or act like a leader will play a huge part whether you like it or not. He will never be prime minister.
  9. I can almost guarantee that the German equivalent of saints fans would have been saying similar after twenty minutes.
  10. I'm not complaining but it's a bit silly as you say if anyone expected him to be. I would have liked one or two "ambitious" and "exciting" players though in the mould of Jay Rod, Wanyama, Toby etc. It does appear to me that we have gone for the players slightly below the bracket containing Mané, Wanyama etc this year. I wonder if that was a deliberate change of strategy?
  11. We had a terrible first half, a very decent 29 minutes in the second and then back to scrappy rubbish again. So maybe a decent 25% of the game?
  12. I think the main issue is how poor our midfield looks. We aren't giving protection to the full backs, we aren't dominating the middle and we seem incapable of passing our way through like we did in previous years. If I were Ron I'd get a CB in but I'd also get in another midfielder. Classie isn't the answer.
  13. I've seen no signs to suggest that soares is an upgrade on Clyne thus far. We have looked a fair bit worse than last year which is a real shame.
  14. Starting to get a bit concerned now. We have looked unconvincing in every match so far. Our midfield in particular has become pants all of a sudden. We look so slow...
  15. What an odd scoreline.
  16. Pretty sure it's on kodi itself.
  17. 99%? That's not true surely.
  18. Does seem mad that we spent that much on long yet haven't gone for that bracket of player this year.
  19. Oh sorry, I didn't know your first name was pilchards...
  20. Because they no longer allow android streaming from the website. You need kodi.
  21. I'm enjoying the alpine response though.
  22. You obviously didn't listen to what I said (and just because they didn't go doesn't mean that there wasn't truth in the original story.) fact is that when these stories came out last year about Adam, lovren, chambers, Lambert, Shaw etc leaving people did the usual thing of saying it was made up, lying, biased journo rubbish when actually they were completely correct. It's idiotic to immediately dismiss an article about a player leaving just because you don't want it to be true.
  23. Erm except last summer when every journo was utterly derided and actually were more accurate than not...
  24. Not sure why it's so funny. People laughed about the stories last summer and then it turned out they were all true. It may not happen of course but I won't be dismissing it so readily after last year.
