Felt today had a bit of a preseason friendly feel about it. Players knew they would win easily - and did - manager trying several different players and players in different positions etc. Guly is a fascinating player to watch - tries to be different, which is good at unlocking teams coming to defend, but then often fails giving ball away cheaply. Very quick and gets stuck in - wins more tackles upfont than any other player we have - bit of the Papa awkwardness about him. Was better than Lambert. Bart was comfortable and confident - happy to come out, easy game but didn't put a foot wrong. Gobern could be good, but much of the game passed him by, timing didn't seem quite there, but first game in CM - certainly showed promise and found the net twice. The 6 defenders used all looked good. Like Dickson and Richardson. Dickson is quick going forward. Holmes again looked a very good player, had to feel for him when he got injured, tried to carry on and looked distraught, slapping the ground in frustration when he knew he couldn't carry on. Very comfortatble of the ball, doesn't give it away, good passer and energetic. Would be one of our top players if could be fit for a season.

no, I think fans are happy because we, yet again, shot ourselves in the foot with a bad start with Pardew and terrible input under Wilkins. Since then nearly all fans are happy with how it is going - and based on results - rightly so.

Dickson is a better LB than Mills. As is Harding. I have never heard that we decided against signing any further wingers as we had already signed a LB?!

amazing how fans question the backing after signings we have made and keeping players. even this "emergency" loan window we have signed a midfielder who was wanted by a premiership club and looks like signing perm asap

I was, that's why gave 5/10 for Pardew's start, then 0/10 for Wilkins - but at least for biggest and most recent chunk we are performing

we have biggest crowds in this division by 3,000 only 6 champoinships sides are getting bigger crowds than us - and most of them only just. 3 prem sides are currently getting smaller crowds. Criticise us for a lot but not current crowds!

after 7 games we were 22nd on 5 points, already 7 points from play offs and 9 points from top. after 18 games we are 7th on 28 points, 1 off play offs and 8 off top. for 7 games 0.7 points per game is terrible. for the next 11 games 2.1 points per game is good. carry on as the last 11 games and we will get about 87 points. this would be enough for 2nd last year, 3rd year before, 2nd year before, 2nd year before and top year before that. We are heading towards top 2 finish. Team is improving - many others are not. We have bigger squad than most (look at recent replacements for both fullbacks) - teams are likely to start suffering from their shortfalls. We are still waiting Lambert to hit form he can undoubtedly show. We are likely to be able to spend in January - particularly if top 2 by then. Other teams more likely to be weakened in Jan than us What I have seen in the 8 home games since Adkins came in (unbeaten) would be very surprised if not in top 3 at end of season and expact top two.
