Emmanuel Mayuka - Officially Signed on OS - Work Permit Confirmed
derry replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
It's down to the team to utilise this guy's pace not for him to forage for scraps that DeRidder had to do. I wouldn't want to be players that decided to ignore that, as I think without buying into this guy's strengths we won't get anywhere. If that happens the results will be poor and the management sacked and more of the players replaced in January. -
We were dead and buried v Hull and he changed the game, there were several other games that he made decisive contributions that added up to us gaining enough points to be promoted rather than the playoffs.

I answered post 322 but 323 beat me to it. It's not about passing the ball to him, like DeRidder getting the ball facing his own goal, and the full back bypassing him trying to overlap. Pace needs the ball well in front in the opponents half or to be given quick ball in own half to use pace on the break. We have to tailor our service to his strengths not expect him to indulge in passfests in slow motion while the opponents consolidate. -
Spot on, maybe it's the team that Adkins has given up on with regards to playing DeRidder.

It's football talk for giving him the ball HTH. -

If we give him the service???? -
That's what I thought. His erratic delivery would have been a lot more useful than the slow motion non delivery last Saturday. Maybe a decent attacking playmaker and a footballing fullback would have brought him into the game more. It doesn't matter how pacy players are, if they don't get the passes that exploit the pace they won't be a success. I'm not sure the present midfield can do this.

Slow and has proved that spending a lot of money isn't necessarily value.

K. Davis and Fonte are a weakness. Fox is only a little better. We competed in the first half but were far too slow in our build up, there was no dynamic movement or interchange, lot's of straight lines. Wigan exploited our giving the ball away for the first goal and the second was a case of Fonte's switching off. We lack pace and dynamism and with players playing out of position and having to step up in class at the same time we are really struggling. We badly need a tall, dominating keeper, quick experienced centre back, quick skilful wide player/s and a left back. Can anybody tell me what Schneiderlin provided in his 7.29 miles apart from a long stroll. He needs to sharpen up his play and get out of his comfort zone of just pass to anybody close then stand and watch or hit a showboat crossfield ball in front of the defence. He gave a hospital ball to Lallana yesterday from five yds that got him clobbered.

I think the manager has to ask himself does he want a player like SDR that up to now has shown he can unsettle sides but has an unpredictable delivery or play others that don't unsettle defences and no delivery at all. It was crying out for SDR yesterday. Putting JWP wide right was desperation and laughable. Seven on the bench and nobody with any pace, it seems that Adkins will pick anybody but him. If we don't bring in some pace wide he will be out of a job by Christmas.

I'm not sure there wasn't some deal struck with him by AA that guaranteed the money in return for something. Access to the land he owned?????

The Germans were the worst. We used to stay at the Holiday Inn in Montego Bay between flights. I used to go to Breakfast early about 6.45 the towels were left out the night before so I used to pick them up and put them in the used towel basket by the pool. Used to cause them all sorts of aggro as they lost their deposits on the towels and didn't get the loungers. When they turned up on the beach the loungers had been moved and mostly crews were using them but giving the innocent "We know nothing" They thought the towels were picked up by the staff at night. Stopped doing it then because of the lost money that week.

As far as I can remember Portpin lent the money to Falcondrone with the PFC shares as security. When Falcondrone defaulted on payments they seized the shares so owned the club. A charge on all assets was secured making them the only secured creditor.

If he signs he signs. I'm really not that fussed.

I know, it's been on newsnow for a while. It's just that Liverpool seem to have lost their marbles over the years in the valuation of players that don't fit in and are then unloaded at a big loss. I think Liverpool being linked with a player is almost a good reason for looking elsewhere.
-
If true, Liverpool paying over the odds again, they really don't get it. Bearing in mind the poor players Liverpool have bought for vast fees it might be the best thing to let it go.
-
It could be that Cortese considers that this condition is a nonsense considering his backing from the Liebherr family and his connections with Italy. It is possible he has terminated discussions.
-
I'd take him in a heartbeat. He'll go for a lot more than £6m in time.
-
You missed the imprtant detail. Adkins hadn't seen him play. Cortese arranged it. (Source - a senior player)
-
Boy, was that a pig in a poke for Liverpool. £35m I rest my case.
-
But will he fit in? The players you have mentioned have hardly set the world alight.
-
I think we are lone voices, it doesn't stack up for me either.
-
At £12m I'd want a lot more than that. He would have to be the best player in the club by a country mile at that price and reported salary. I think expectations are a bit unrealistic.
-
He's just a name to me. I haven't seen his quality just heard opinions. Obviously he is a decent player but the thing that worries me is the reports that this is a Cortese initiative. The last one from Spurs turned out to be a 45 min cameo because it was the first time Adkins had seen him.
-
If he signs he signs. If he was that good where are all the big clubs, Italian, Spanish and Premier giants. At £12m he would be a snip, It doesn't add up. We are the only bidders. I don't buy Spurs wouldn't match our wages. He might turn out to everybody's expectations, it's just that it doesn't stack up for me.
