  1. If that's going for it would somebody tell me what a defensive team would look like. If we don't get through he will get slaughtered and deserves to be.
  2. Thanks. Or the rebound.
  3. After that won't be a lot use:D
  4. You misunderstood I said miss him out and put the ball into the space behind the high press not leave him out. More direct than playing off him and the defenders able to spoil. Any fouls happening to the runners could easily end up in a sending off for the last man.
  5. Mane, Long, JayRod, 2 from 3 chasing the over the top ball and anybody else going for the box. Aston Villa did a good impression of it beating us at SMS in the Pochettino high press era.
  6. If they are going to play a very high line one way to exploit it is pace, with the ball over the top behind the high line and away from the keeper. Not to play the half way house and play up to Pelle, he should be missed out and get into the box as quickly as possible together with runners from midfield on the break and the quick men breaking behind the high line going for the ball first.
  7. Spurs not having a good time:lol:. Moved on from Berahino due to bid being rejected. Either not for sale or not enough. Instalment plan was described as derisory. Now trying for Bayern Munich Korean forward Son, bidding £18m according to Sky. Hardly a big club with loads of money.
  8. Only six days before this farce is over. Maybe it would be better if the transfer window was the first week in july and the first week in January. Be a lot less boring. The tv and press would have a whole lot less time to peddle their stories.
  9. Ok if that's your name otherwise looks like you may have a problem.
  10. The player we weren't ever interested in, fabricated by the Wanyama to Spurs agenda is having a medical at Real Sociedad. On to the next fabrication. RK "nobody is leaving" does it for me. Maybe it's time for clubs to put the hammer down and get together to not allow transfers to EPL clubs after the season has started no matter the dates of the window. Is it 14 to get a rule through?
  11. Mark, those players you are talking about are struggling at the moment and VVD is supposed to be the missing link that gives us a cast iron defence. We played seven defensive players including three centre backs against a promoted team to try and stem the tide. Good as he looks at times there are other times he looks switched off. The Premier is a very unforgiving place and he will be up against some top class opponents. Get Bertrand back, Clasie in a midfield three and it may get a lot better as a team and it may be a lot easier for him to fit in successfully..
  12. Quite! However that's three goals from dead ball situations in the six yd box from Malmo. The DM's would hardly help there.
  13. He lost his marker against the Icelandic team for the goal, it was accepted that he was poor against Kilmarnock and if any of our centre backs had been done in the air in the two games against Malmo in the same way as VVD he'd be slaughtered on here. He may be a talent but the answer, that's a big maybe for me. Especially for £10m. As we are needing an instant solution in defence he will have to hit the ground running. Forgive me for remembering the euphoria of the Liverpool supporters on signing Lovren their defensive answer, but quickly turned on him when he wasn't quite what they thought they were getting. I just hope for his sake he is as good as people are expecting. If he signs for us he may well need time to adapt, time I'm prepared to give him.
  14. This is to try and reinforce the Wanyama to Spurs story. More journalistic bull.

    Calum Chambers

I think his step father was a director of the agency who handled him. He was grossly under developed and needed to serve his apprenticeship. Badly advised. Hodgson did him no favours by giving him a full cap then not good enough to be picked for the U21s last summer. He was all over the place last night. He is not good enough in the air or at reading the game at centre back. Wenger says he sees him as a class defensive midfielder in due course. He has no role models at Arsenal for that. A good move for Saints but I fear that this lad will eventually drop down the leagues.
  16. Ian---- Saint in Paradise has been in New Zealand for a long time. I'm sure he wouldn't mind you sending him a PM.
  17. How we are going to score goals with two forwards who can score and three midfielder and five defenders who will only snatch something from a favourable free kick or corner? It was a classic case of parking the bus. If we are going to play seven defensive players then the other three really have to be capable of scoring something that escapes Davis and JWP. If we use that formation again maybe bench Pelle and play Mane and Rodriguez off Long. We made it far too easy for the Watford defence.
  18. TSN3 was perfect for 35 mins than crashed, switched to CTH2 until half time and TSN3 was perfect for the second half. After selecting Sportsmania add on, on Kodi, Menu page comes up, select upcoming matches which lists all the stations. Either click on the required station or switch back to menu and select CTH, TSN or whatever you want. As my wife watches tennis I've been watching a lot of sport on Kodi Sportsmania lately, all perfect.
  19. There is nothing to stop any club making it public that no player it considers it doesn't want to sell will leave once the season has started. It then has to enforce that. Once it is known by all that there is no way that club will waiver it would be better for all. Rumours would be meaningless.
  20. Remind him what Koeman said.
  21. Sports mania on their Kodi home page had a file with links giving all the games and the channels they were on including tomorrow. Saints on at least four stations. I watched CTH Stadium 5 WH v B on HD no problems.
  22. I thought the team selection was unbalanced but I can see that there may be underlying reasons for it. I suspect there was firstly a pragmatic rotation. Secondly the priority of giving Rodriguez and Targett game time. The team selection left us without blend in vital areas against a team that was able to play a very compact blocking game. There were several players who fell far short of the performance to fill the vital areas. Both full backs were poor for a team that sets such store in the full backs providing the width. Targett was a little better than Yoshida but too often checked out and passed back. His lack of pace is a worry. Neither full back were regularly available to receive balls to the wings from the DMs, this caused us to be narrow and slow with our build up. JWP was a nearly man, he nearly closed down, nearly tackled, wondered around in midfield, any possession was passed back or square. When he did have the ball he wanted to offload it as quickly as possible. For a so called future international he showed a total lack of drive or awareness. At this stage he should be demanding the ball and driving the team around him but he seemed just reactive and passive. Good job he fell over at the right time. The dead ball delivery was better than Saturday but a long way from the laser like accuracy that causes defenders sleepless nights, in a word pretty ordinary. Caulker is finding his feet and good in the air. The two DMs should settle down and provide a good defensive shield. Soares and Bertrand will solve the width problem although I'm surprised Martina hasn't figured even on the left because he has been fairly decent up to now. Clasie may well be able to to do the job JWP failed to do. Somebody earlier made the comment that a loan out might be in his best interests, to get a full season at a decent level. Up front my main criticism of Pelle is his lack of mobility and tendency to occupy the central area. The three main attackers play in straight lines apart from Rodriguez there is no lateral movement or interchange to try and move defenders around. They do however suffer from our slow narrow build up which pushes them up against the offside problem with defenders holding their ground in numbers. Somebody on both sides needs to get behind the defence and put in crosses from close to the bye line. Both Mane and Rodriguez want to be strikers so don't get into the wide areas early enough. I'm not sure that Midjtylland are that good and may well not be good enough now that we have had a good look at them.
  23. I've just watched South Today and that's exactly what they said as a direct quote from the club.
  24. Maybe it's time the little 14 formed a voting block and faced up to the six and Sky.
  25. Saints to BBC Solent. No Bid - Not for sale.
