  1. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jan/16/katharina-liebherr-southampton-football-owner-german-markusd Is KL in it for the long term?
  2. http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/patrick-barclay-southampton-saga-shows-football-and-capitalism-are-not-great-bedfellows-even-on-a-magic-mattress-9064016.html "That’s how it works. If you’re a Blackburn supporter, you get the glory under Jack Walker and the exasperation of the Venky’s. If you follow Chelsea or Manchester City, you just want your sugar daddies to stay for ever. If you support Hull, you’re revelling in the Premier League but fear you’re about to become a Tiger. I do often wonder if football and naked capitalism are an ideal mix."
  3. The bit I found most interesting was disagreement about the terms of a sale.
  4. The club statement says the manager and players will get all the support they need. It will be interesting to see what support Pochettino gets at tomorrow's press conference. It won't be an easy one. He and the players need the heat taken off them.
  5. He wrote this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25420261
  6. "Isn't that a bit like "can you keep up with us?" Like when he was at Brighton" I think that's exactly what it is. Witty by Pochettino.
  7. Can you stay with us? Bit cosy.
  8. We're just past the midway point in the season. Anything can happen. Though given the squads above us we'd do well to get above 8th.

    Howard Webb

He told him " you're very different now, since you played for the under 21's".

    Howard Webb

Other than not clamping down on the time wasting he was ok. Having said that we've had some right duffers this season haven't we.
  11. http://www.tsmplug.com/richlist/highest-paid-football-managers/ The top 20 highest paid managers in world football. Allardyce is in at 13. Value for money?
  12. They may think they don't...which is all that matters to us.
  13. It's possible yes but from what little I know of his situation at Espanyol the situation was on a different scale than at Saints. His better players were sold which I understand happens routinely at Espanyol and it seems the club doesn't or didn't have the means to buy (we do). He was much more reliant therefore on youth players and was at a club that seems to have been in a continual state of turmoil.
  14. I believe he did.
  15. He dealt with a much much worse situation at Espanyol.
  16. And RvW? Van Wolfswinkle. Not quite the dog's b0llocks.
  17. I disagree with you about Lallana (and JRod). I've seen him dive in the penalty box and it's nothing to do with his build. He's a poor diver, e.g. West Ham away in the Championship and Skates at home. I draw the line at gamesmanship on the field of play. Where we could improve is in making SMS a hostile environment for refs and linesmen. Crowd pressure really can make a difference.
  18. I saw no goodbye but this is my worry too, that the club may be interested in cashing in on West Ham's desperation, subject to getting the right replacement, yet Lambert wants to stay and, like any player, needs to feel that the club wants him to stay.

    Well

"Lallana, Shaw & Rodriguez are going nowhere.. For now." Anybody that is going somewhere? Eg Lambert.
  20. Coverage was on both BBC and ITV with highlights again on MoTD on Saturday night and on The Big Match on Sunday. I have missed only one FA Cup Final either on TV or occasionally attending since Everton v Sheffield Wednesday which was in the mid 60's I think. The one I missed I think I had a mow the lawn or something.
  21. Excitement then disappointment as we go out at some point through playing a weakened side. I received an email from the FA recently publicising the third round. Ironic considering how the FA's been instrumental in it's decline. I suspect there will be many who won't be there tomorrow who'll attend should we progress to later rounds. Am I right in recalling that we used to get vouchers which gave priority for later cup matches?
  22. No case to answer - I assume the refs Union or whatever they call themselves means by that there is insufficient evidence and therefore there should be no investigation or put another way, a closing of ranks, a cover up. Wasn't that the conclusion with the Mikel incident too? In these instances refs as a group would benefit from showing a little transparency. If Clattenburg has nothing to hide then let's hear the evidence.
  23. The fact that Perez did the press conference says it all. Still going though. It's the FA cup.
  24. I agree that it could be improved at any age but equally I think it's something that would come naturally only if ingrained at an early age. For all I know being ambidextrous may be a function of the brain but I've heard of right handed youngsters being coached to play on the left side because it's gives them such an advantage e.g. Cricket, but this would not work with older sports people. I think you could be right about Hooiveld. It would help explain the ogs and how his body shape is sometimes wrong when the ball comes into the box. Not comfortable, you could say gauche.
